Meh. Thats the only impression i have for
Jai Ho. The 'good' message it tries to convey about '
helping three more people instead of saying Thank You', might work in a 100% ideal world, which is exactly the world
Jai Ho creates. Where else would you have
Salman Khan act like
Sunny Deol? Also, its ironic to see just
one message of '
good' being covered by
many other useless acts of '
suicide', and/or '
fist justice'.
The '
political aspect' of the movie reminds me of Pakistan's. The '
VIP Protocol', '
corrupt politicians', '
armed wings of political parties', and '
servant police' ... it was a pretty accurate representation. Their evolution, or end ... not so much, since they almost always prevail in the real world. That home minister's daughter though ... well, lol -_-
I loved the wee bit of sassy humor. Had a pretty good laugh at '
pinky' every time. Also, that child star,
Naman Jain as
Kabir, WHAT A KID lol. '
Luteri Canteen', '
Pink Panther', '
Dhandora Peeton Gaaaa' ... the best part is that even on his loudest (supposedly disrespectful) voice, he was actually cute, and hilarious.
Tabbu is one of my favorite stars of all time. It was very engaging to see her whenever we could. But it was obvious she is struggling to put some life in her character. Oh, and that '
collar grabbing scene', and the reaction of Salman Khan ... lets embrace the super cheese, and enjoy the intense '
hungry lion' face Salman pulls off :S
Between all the melodrama, there are actually pretty decent Bollywood action. That '
trail bike chase' was shot beautifully well. And a handful of moments during fist fight were nice. Not all the time, though. Most of the fist fight is just plain torture, with '
hundreds of camera angles rolled-in-your-face in one minute'. Mostly it feels like a cheap knockoff of
Wanted (2009) and
Dabang (2010).
Hm, what else. Songs were f*cking useless, both lyrics wise and choreography wise. Gone are the days of some PROPER music and PROPER Bollywood movies. They now over do such stuff to a great extend, wearing too much blind, and large sets including hundreds of people to project a beautiful picture, which falls flat.
Daisy Shah as
Rinky has transitioned from a Backup dancer, and it was evident from her cheap acting skills and overflowed dance moves. Rest of the cast including
Mahesh Manjrekar (that rickshaw driver),
Danny Denzongpa (home minister Singh) and
Genelia D'Souza (that disabled girl) are such a wasted talent. They are brilliant actors, without a doubt.
Its been a while since I have watched a Bollywood movie, so the transition was a little difficult, and dramatic. And i am not really satisfied by the end result. The ending was plain stupid.
- Salman Khan doesn't fall with hundreds of people attacking him, but does with a piece of metal penetrating his abdomen. Only in Bollywood.
- Daughter of Home Minister Sigh is killed by his own brother. Great timing for her to come behind them fighting 'bros'.
- Who the f*ck allowed that Army Tank to come on road *facepalm*
Also, Salman taking his shirt off, its getting old. Okay, maybe not. But timing is always wrong :S
All in all, it was a torture to watch. I only enjoyed it during action, or romance ... rest of the 'goodness' is just a torture to go through, including the overly sentimental moments.
5/10.
