KICK (2014)
... Its like an adrenaline rush ...
YESSSS. This is how a
Salman Khan blockbuster should be. Comedic, Romantic, Cheesy, High Masala Entertainment, something which demands the brain to be turned off, something which is just
HAPPY everywhere. I had much more fun watching
Kick. Actually had quite a few '
kicks' on many occasions. Don't mind the '
master thief' stuff it boasts, or the handful of cheap CGI. Stunts for the most part were definitely praise worthy, given a Bollywood project.
I have grown fond of
Tick Tock strategy of some movie makers.
Shah Rukh Khan gave this idea a big boost, and now
Salman Khan catches it, and does it well, i must say. First half '
being human', and the second, a '
DeviL'; '
Peechay danger, agay dangerous'. And i love how Kick pays homage to his older movies such as
Wanted (2009). First 8-9 minutes of Kick are the most beautiful, with
Jacqueline Fernandez dazzling the screen. Never seen her THIS stunning. Was deeply adoring her, until the '
explosive' intro of
Salman Khan brought me out of that. Yeah, overdone, but still funny and likeable. After that, its a constant ride of fun, humor and just romance. '
All-show-no-go café ‘kick’', the '
police station ‘kick’', '
Only I can call her sweet heart', maximum fun.
The second half, with DeviL and those '
Traditionally Abuses will lead to bany log', well the focus shifts greatly, and my only grip is the absence of Jacqueline Fernandez's lovely role. But
Randeep Hooda (Police Officer
Himanshu Tyag), who is also my favorite (you should see him in 'poetic' rules such as
Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye (2009), or
Jism 2 (2012)) keeps the thrill alive. Plus, his and DeviL's exchange of amusing dialogues kept me hooked. Not to mention ... the classic moments of them both against one another, once at that '
Sharabi Terrace', and later '
in Police Station'. What a great performance by
Nawazuddin Siddiqui as
Shiv Gajra. Love the way these guys keep it so ... '
natural', and '
desi'.
Now i understand Why the recent Salman Khan recent movies are trying to give
a few meaningful lessons. Except, in
Jai Ho (2014) where the delivery of those lessons was rather stupid,
Kick focuses on the '
children', and how '
wealthy corrupt f*cks' are the reason for current state of Society (goes for both Pakistan and India, and almost certainly rest of the world too); the lesson had weight. And the execution, mildly heart piercing. Don't forget the '
Café lesson'. Its also thought provoking, seeing him find '
kick' in smile of a child, instead of '
making money'. (This part specifically has much more meaning to it, which i am sure many of you would simply ignore.)
Talking about Songs, well as it turns out ... i kinda loved them. Hated the "
Yaar Naa Miley" at first, but later found myself loving it greatly. Exciting beats, Nice choreography, with catchy dance moves, perfectly executed by gorgeous
Nargis Fakhri. "
Hangover" song wasn't that bad as well.
Infact, i liked ALL the songs.
I loved
Kick. Its exactly what i wanted. A HAPPY movie, something which i can watch with my brain turned off. Something to enjoy greatly. Both
Salman and
Jacqueline look awesome as a couple, which was totally unexpected, and they share a discreet chemistry.
DEEPLY ENTERTAINING.
8/10 Happy Endings can never be bad -_-
