I think PG has more than held its own. The fact that it's still well alive and going strong is an achievement in itself. You can't expect anything more than that from PG because as Wajhi explained, it attracts only a particular type of demographic and that' all that it intends to do. I don't think PG was ever intended to become the biggest online community to come out of Pakistan, but the great thing is that in spite of that, it's still among the best forums in this country. The admins and all the guys in the team, specially NaNoW in recent times deserve a lot of credit for keeping PG going smooth and strong.

i have been around here for quite some time now and i think with time it has only improved
it has the best marketplace, pratically all of the computer and gaming items that i have owned i have bought it on pg with almost no issues
and when i comes to selling, i use it as my sole platform so yeah its pretty much matchless at least to me

I won't say it hasn't improved. It definitely has on a lot of fronts.

But damn, ain't there potential to improve a hell lot more? I guess people have more outlets now than before. Online gaming has bridged Pakistan to the world and gaming is beyond boundaries. There are so many other forms of e-socializing, primarily facebook, that message boards generally have lost their touch.

I love PG so much and I'd like to do so much for it but as you grow, you get to have family and kids and most of your things tend to take a back seat, specially if you rely on a full time job to keep your life chugging along nicely.

PG has improved on a lot of things, but gaming discussion isn't one of them. I rarely see proper gaming discussion anymore. And I find gaming as a whole to be less interesting, apart from a few games like Witcher 3 and mobile gaming (which I can do on the go). I see that Wajhi, and co are taking initiatives, doing interviews and reaching out to developers to get Pakistan into the spotlight. So thats a good thing!

The thing is that the people who I've always identified PG with (Chandoo, CT, Necro, Shyber, Ahsan and a lot of other old schoolers) aren't active anymore. And thats expected of them since they have outgrown PG, have started lives and probably families of their own. I too rarely post anymore since 1) Its not worth the effort since I've taken part in almost every discussion there is and 2) I don't have that much time to post about stuff since I am almost always busy in Uni and stuff :(.

I'll definitely be more active after Jan-Feb inshaAllah. You can count on it ;)

Also pakgamers from what iv been seeing, has grown more of a chitchat forum rather than gaming, with the main attraction being the market place mainly.

Lack of good or original gaming articles, lack of depth on those , lack of proper Hardware coverage

Edit: too strict, thats one thing i notice , bans on useage of casual language , i dont think its a big deal to use words like shit or fuck , pretty sure most of the members do in real life as well.

Lot of it has gone down , in terms of posts and quality stuff , but forums and sections have improved a lot .

Old guard left , new came , lot of old guard is here but have become occasion gamers rather than back in the day when we use to play every god dammn game out there , i my self play selective games now and hardly discuss them
Sports section has gone down , Movies tv shows section has gone up , music section is dead , plus hardware and other section etc are almost dead .

Lot of gamers and enthusiastic people out there who have not join PG or have joined but never posts , i Blame FB and other social media like youtube etc taking away quality discussion away and users away

Not strict.
You should be glad that the older mods arent here right now.
:p
Casual language is fine but when it is done deliberately with some indirect insult, that is not casual anymore.
Why? Read the rules! :D

well ok people are getting busy, getting married , jobs etc. but in every place there is a rule that old things get replaced by new one and in larger number in most cases
.
I dont think so it is happening on PG. old user's are not getting replaced by new one's WHY ? hmm because of no marketing or social media attraction IMO . Marketplace is the only attraction here right now.

and yea just 3 years back PG was in top 200 websites on alexa in Pakistan now it is on 566. which explains it very well ....

Dude, I think people tend to stick to Facebook/Twitter for there discussion/debating needs now. Trend of gaming boards seem to be on a decline.

I'm not sure about Alexa but 200 out of 300 total is better or 566 out of 3000 is better? Percentile comparisons are a better indicator. And traffic isn't the only measure. People don't talk about games that much. I miss those discussions.

Reading the recent "Is it OK to eat Goat's Kapooras" thread reminded of another famous thread about balls and goats from back in the day. So dont know if PG has improved but it has certainly come full circle. Here is the link for some good laughs http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f3/weird-thing-happened-today-70288/

On a more serious note I also feel that while gaming in Pakistan has become more mainstream it has also become a lot more expensive. Hardware requirements, console prices and decline in piracy have somewhat limited the potential audience. As an older member I feel that it is more expensive to be a gamer today than it was during my school /college days a decade ago. I remember I used to buy every single game that came out irrespective of reviews or ratings because a cd rom used to be for 25-50rs and most games were on one or two discs. Plus a lot of games were not as hardware intensive and even ran on the more modest pcs. Same goes the lack of piracy on current gen consoles. I really doubt if I could have bought even one original game every few months with my pocket money. Of course this is just my opinion, there can be a lot of counter arguments like the availability of cheap original games in steam sales and so on but this is just my two cents.

PakGamers is in stasis since last few years. It looks and feels old now.

- Needs a major facelift
- Homepage is irrelevant and redundant
- Quality of posts has gone down the drain (Questions about eating goat kapooras ??? and most of WTF threads)
- Performance is really slow.
- Mobile website is like 90s version of forum.

Though on the bright side, it's still active community and forum is alive, which means the forum has to be updated following the new standards.

In terms of Gaming Central I think Mani and Nanow are doing wonderful job to keep it alive. If it wouldn't have been for them I think GC would have been virtually dead.

Activity has gone down for sure but I think the newer gen consoles not being hacked has played a major role in it as well. Yes i play legit on both X1 and the PS4 but that is only possible since i work full time now. If i had to go legit like 5 years ago while studying i dont think i would have been able to support this hobby. Back in the days of 360, software was extremely cheap, we were young (comparatively), had more time, less responsibilities etc. Cheap software meant that we played alot of games and more free time meant that we could spend endless hours gaming and DISCUSSING them on PG. With the younger lads now I think the price of this hobby especially on consoles make it very hard for them to game and that in turn has led to decrease in GC discussions.

Yes Facebook is quite in now in our country for Debate's/Discussion's.....
PG is not that much up to date ..like twincon happened in NUST and I didnt saw anything related to it here .. like 100's of people went to that event ..

2-3 people are really great here managing all the things but PG needs a bigger team ... just my opinion, might be wrong ..

Karach!
What comes in my mind is the dearth of quality games.

Back then some of the most mindblowing games got released quite frequently but now i dont even feel the urge to upgrade my hardware as i dont see any decent+addictive games coming in the near future.

I haven't been a PG member for so long that I could comment on how it is now as compared to the good old days. Loosing great members like CT, Otto, Blasty etc has had an impact but I'm hopeful that new blood will take their place. Activity has gone down for sure in some sections, especially in Gaming Central, which used to be full of life, and one big reason, like many have said above, is the fact that this current gen hasn't been hacked yet, leaving majority of people without them, hence no discussions.

Also, FB and Twitter seems to be where people like discussing more instead of forums, especially in Pakistan.

I really wish I had way more free time these days so I can resume being active like I was in my normal days. Something always seems to come up these days sadly. Will hopefully try to increase my activity, but just like everyone else who has grown out or have been inactive, Life happens, and you just can't commit like you once used to.
