People just don't talk about games anymore. You go to gaming section and it's just full of news posts. No discussions. It's not like people don't play games or don't want to discuss it, it's just that they don't bother to do so on Pakgamers. I fail to understand why that is so?
I think there are at least some changes that need to be made. I have felt for a few years now that the "news section" really needs to be separate from "game discussion" section.

"Game discussion" should specifically for discussion/views/experience pertaining to that specific game "after" its release (no news/pre-release hype etc.). And there should be just one for each game (so that the discussion is cumulative).

There should also be a third category along the lines of "General Gaming Discussion". For example, stuff not pertaining to one specific game should go there. So topics related to a particular genre (rather than games) or topics like "What are you playing right now" go there.

Since this is just my personal view, and I don't run the site, it is really up to the people running the site what to do. Obviously there is no guarantee these changes would necessarily boost the games discussion but at least I feel that would make the relevant discussion more directly accessible.

PG is still good, but back in the day we had actual heated discussions on games/consoles/companies. Maybe it's still the same but I don't participate.. but I doubt that's the case. Radd, Chandoo, CT, DCMD, Shyber etc..
Yeah I remember the brief period when you made a lot of posts to the PSP section. But the section still didn't go active as it should have been probably (even in that time).

I have never been a prolific poster but I did make a number of posts in the Wii section, but usually there would be very few responses (understandable given the console wasn't that prevalent here).

The general gaming section and Playstation section were definitely much more active though.

There was a time when in case I had a query or problem I got many response within no time and now it's like no one is there when you need some one.

Maybe because gaming has become more mainstream now than before. In the past, forums like PG were more likely to elicit excitement in users who stumbled upon it because of the relative exclusivity of gamers and thus of a forum for gamers in Pakistan. People used to join it with enthusiasm, thinking "OMG! fellow pakistani gamers!".

Also, the users were fewer but extremely regular, which further helped to accentuate the atmosphere of exclusivity of the sort attached to a cool, small club. Each user participating in a discussion easily recognized every other, because it was pretty much the same group of regular guys talking daily in threads. Many were aware of gaming interests of each other and that added to the quality of discussion/debate. It used to be a much more closely-knit community. This isn't true anymore. Now with the much greater number of users, you see a new face in every other thread and hardly anyone is a regular participant. They come and go. Sustaining discussions is a lot more difficult now, discouraging enthusiastic participation.
Can't disagree with any of these points but I still feel it's not a complete diagnosis.

I remember the community, or the core community, more tightly knit even outside the forums. We used to be rivals but there wasn't anything we said on forums that we wouldn't say on anyone's face. There was an element of respect and friendship even in rivalries. Of course the major groups were in Lahore and Karachi but the whole of Pakgamers saw us as a cool community.

Perhaps more meetups and parties are needed?

Agreed. I think the news should only be posted on the main page, for link-backs and everything and then the whole commentary and discussions for that news should be carried over to the forums.

News should not be posted in the discussion threads !

Also, pg became less interesting ever since Chandoo stopped posting.

I joined back in 2010 and hung outnwith a squad . It used to be AsadAbrar @Maz syedfaraz mohammadyahya Blastwave and Photographer but since I was in my mid teens ,naughtiness was at peak and blastwave tolerated a lot of my BS but in the end he got tired and just banned me . That sort of discouraged me to leave PG for a long time and concentrate on my studies . I remember people used to really contribute to your threads . I was one of the first few people who bought the Xbox 360slim here on PG and posted a thread on it and it was filled with comments . And those days I used to visit the xbox and play station thread regularly. Now I just see myself either posting in Education and academics to guide kids or in Movies section to see what good tv shows are on air these days . Btw @nan0w I have a great idea to bring back PG
