Project Almanac: 4/10

One of the worst movies I've come across this year. What an utter piece of crap this movie was! If only I could somehow get the time, I wasted on this movie, back! :/

LAGGIES (2014)

I've never seen Keira Knightley so versatile. Couldn't take my eyes off of her face, projecting a thousand different feelings at the same time, at any given moment ... so deep within character. And its a movie supported by brilliant characters, some going through the hard times of adulthood. It made me laugh on several occasions not because of its discreet humor, but with its weird scenarios ('sweat shirt', 'interview by Annika's father', 'fingerbang in the street', 'breakup at the airport'), lovely characters (Chloë Grace Moretz as Annika, Sam Rockwell as Annika's father Craig, Keira Knightley obviously, and special mention Kaitlyn Dever as Misty; who was absolutely cute and hilarious ... but wasn't given much screen time). and commendable acting by the actors.

Whats even more amusing, is the friendship bond between Megan and Annika. The chemistry between them was just sweet. At times, i felt a slightly dislike the way women were being presented the devil (for instance, 'Megan cheating on his boyfriend' was presented as 'not a big deal') but that might just be me. Unexpectedly, i enjoyed it highly, and would love to watch it again, just to memorize those Knightely impressions. Kinda cool seeing her like that. The last song at the prom was ... bouncy. Its a 7/10 stuff.

Penguins of Madagascar

Just like the minions in Despicable me, I always loved the penguins in Madagascar franchise.

The movie was good for the most part. The penguins doing their usual thing was always extremely fun to see. The sheer ridiculous, coincidental and luck nature of it all just made it all the more awesome. And the animation department really did a good job showing all such sequences. The banter of their group, the talks with the other groups, everything was really good. Some of the dialogue really had me laughing out loud.

The story however was extremely predictable. Other characters paled in comparison. Final act went the usual cliche kids focused animation. Its a kids movie so these things are to be expected.

I just wanted to see penguins, and whatever amount I got of them was great. The rest just hampered the overall experience. A good animated movie and a must watch for Penguins fans.

Project Almanac

Didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I honestly thought this movie will suck but I just gave it a go anyway due to time travel plot.

The movie is about a brilliant high school kid on the verge of going to college who, along with his nerdy group, happens to stumble upon his father's secret device name "Project Almanac", which can manipulate time.

It is filmed in a found-footage style. And I actually kinda dug it that they went this way, felt right for the feel of this movie. It just felt to me like how it would actually go if some students stumble upon a machine like this. Majority of the film is spent with them trying to alter their immediate lives, have fun and all, you know, teenage stuff. And it was kinda refreshing to see this age old genre go this way.

The acting was good-ish. Most of the small cast was pretty good but there were some exceptions. But atleast with found footage, bad acting isn't that noticeable.

My problem with this movie came in the last act. As things became more complex, as it always is with time travel stuff, the movie just rushly went to wrap it all up and ended. Felt empty. Also, lovey dovey stuff just had to become the main focus, UGHHH.

Regardless of the third act, the film as whole was pretty good. I had a good time with it and would suggest everyone to try it out and don't follow the overly negative reviews it got.

Mad Max: Fury Road.

In-Fucking-CREDIBLE. Absolutely incredible. Genre defining spectacle. Mind-boggling stunts. Surprisingly emotional, and had me lingering long after the credits roll. This is the kind of movie that makes me appreciate cinema as an art. The performances were killer, the action is as real as it gets and just looks AWESOME.

Mad Max: Fury Road teaches movies like Avengers and Fast and Furious a lesson on how to make an incredibly stylized action film with heart, a blood-rushing plot and strong characters.
This one's for the books. 9.5/10

WATCH THIS IN A CINEMA NOW!

Alright pheww ! man what a crazy hell ov a ride this movie was ! what a REMAKE ! blew my mind ! IMAX 3D is where it's at PPL don't think anything can get any better and DAMNN the explosions, the rage the on the seat action ! uff just awesome, you'll forget FAST 7 AND avengers alright :D this is by far the best movie of 2015 so far for me :D

now i've seen the old trilogy yes but this is no where like that, although the antagonist is the real actor from the original trilogy YES he's back !

now tom hardy takes on the role of max but he's quite silent and going through his own demons and such.. so the silent type not much talkative but HELL you don't need him talking when HELL OF A LOT is going on in the movie ! from the get go the movie is a roller coaster ride people ! doesn't stop ohh yes

charlize theron man oh man where do i begin, just amazing ! i think she even did better than tom hardy :D and nicholas hoult was good too....

everybody did great and man what a freak that guitarist flamethrower was :p

WATCH THIS IN CINEMA NOW ! i urge u to so and you won't be disappointed ! best part there wasn't much CG in there too, plus that background music during the scenes etc got it more exciting !

Seriously, bro? 7.5? With all due respect but are you a teenager? Or someone who's just entered their early twenties?
It sucked. The only audience it'll successfully appeal to is the one consisting of immature, naive teenagers. Oh, and definitely teenage girls! The entire movie was full of bullshit, and it never had a good storyline to begin with. The cringe-worthy romance it kept playing with, all along, made it even worse. I could've gone on and on about how shitty this piece of garbage was, but, had to cut short because I was on from my phone when I gave my short opinion about it.
Not to mention how messed up the frickin soundtrack was. It was like I'm fuckin' watching one of those Lindsay Lohan chickflicks, which are full of such songs, throughout the movie.
A movie based on time-travel, which was being filmed in the "Paranormal Activity" fashion, should've at least had a good plot to keep the audience glued to it. But no! It sucked balls. Acting was just downright BAD! When you look at other time-travel based movies such as "Interstellar" or even "Predestination", this one doesn't come close to any of the two. Forget those titles, haha, this piece of shit doesn't come close to the time-travel sequences we get, nowadays, on the TV show: The Flash.
That's how pathetic it is. The plot of this flick goes completely haywire when the so-called brilliant kid travels through time just to keep his romance alive! [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] how frickin' brilliant is that, huh?! :D
Come on, now, following negative reviews is one thing, but coming up with facts, is another. You don't rate - something that's full of cow dunk - that high! [emoji21]
I'll stand by my previous comment and will again rate it 4/10. If only I could go back in time and somehow stop myself from watching this movie! [emoji19]

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY (2015)

Children; Keep Away.

Spoiler: show
"Oh i exercise control in all things, Miss Steele." ~ Grey

Oh do you really, you sadistic scum? I fail to understand what the fuss was all about in 50 Shades of Grey.It seems as if its written by someone mentally challenged. If this is BSDM, f*ck that, because this is downright insulting to women, worse form of p*rn (as in, a more torturous version), and just disgusting. This might be a turn-on for some f*cked up individuals, but I despise it. Also, I have watched worse movies which had better sex scenes than this. Every time a song would come up during a semi-p*rn scene, my hand would instantly reach in front of my face for a full fledged facepalm; stupid choice of soundtrack.

Grey's character is vague. A rich spoiled sadist, 'Mister 50 Shades of F*cked Up', a control freak?. 'Car Gifts', 'Helicopter and Planes joyrides', 'non disclosure agreement', 'contract'; looks cute on screen, but not really when you think about it. Sadly, to truly understand him, we have to see two more of such heinous attempts :S *gulps* Oh and Jamie Dornan isn't the worst actor to play this, unexpectedly.

Anyway, enough with the bad. Lets talk the good. Honestly, I only watched it because of Dakota Johnson. Would it surprise you if I say she looks 10 times hotter and sexier when she is NOT naked? Make no mistake, you continue to adore her (and only her) throughout the whole movie. The romantic parts with her (not BSDM romantic) are mesmerizing. Lip Biting should be her insignia. That 'business meeting' might be the only point where I paid a little more attention, and loved it. Other times, its been borriinnggggg.

The corny dialogues are just bad. But the cinematography is ... flashy (pun intended). Kink is mellowed but nudity is full on. I am also not a fan of the name 'Anastasia'. WTF ending should motivate you enough for the next 2 sequels? It would have been heck of a lot better to end the movie where the elevator doors were closed. Anna. Christian. Door Shut. Lets move on with our lives, shall we. 4/10.

Saw Mad Max Fury Road At Cinepax Last Night. Best action movie of the year so far action scenes were better than Fast 7 & Avengers AOU...Action was really crazy and nonstop. I wonder how a director could think that kind of stunts in that kind of atmosphere. Charlize Theron’s bad ass character was better than Tom Hardy’s and Nicholas Hoult’s character was also very funny. Sometimes it looks cheesy but not more than Fast 7. This movie deserves to be watched in 3D because 3D effects and Visuals are to good especially that sand storm scene. Action, Direction, Music and Visuals everything in this movie was freaking AWESOME and yes I WITNESSED. 9/10

*shaking my head in disbelief

On another note, a friend of mine needs to know if the cinemas are censoring this film, seeing as it's an R rated movie. Are they censoring it? If so, then by how much? I am talking about Mad Max, of course

A long reply for what exactly? NO matter what you say, it won't change the fact that I liked it. Opinions exist, in case you didn't know.

Full of 'cow dunk' (what???) for you maybe, not for me. As evident from my review, it has problems in my eyes too. But this movie got judged way too harshly
in my opinion. You don't agree? Fine. To Each his own.

And did you really tried to compare it with Interstellar and Predestination?

Comparison in regards of high standards that have been set for movies which are based on time-travel. Oh, and you Googled a gif just for the heck of this reply? REALLY? [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

The comparison is natural considering Avengers and FF have been the most talked about action movies of the year so far. Mad Max, through its excellence in style and plot inception, takes things to such new heights that it makes all those action movies in recent memories feel generic and recycled. You have to see it to believe it.

Artificial intelligence is on the rise my friend , the whole movie is kind of predictable but the cinematography and the acting , the interaction b.w the characters keep you hooked , TBh the movie looks like an extended version of any Charlie Brooker black mirror episode .

Let's be real here, the only reason Furious Seven is talked about is because the death of no-name person that I don't wanna name. If that wasn't the case, the film would've been just another Fast and Furious movie, grossing around 800 million. Instead because of the death of such a 'famous' person, every person I can think of that I know from work and here and there went to see that movie. And for the record, I didn't. I saw it at home a couple of days ago. It should've been named Fast Paul and Furious Diesel: the neglected potential of Jason Statham.
Coming back to Avengers, I see we clearly hold a different opinion but there is no comparison between the two, or three for that matter. I don't even think it's wise to compare Furious Seven to Age of Ultron, the same way that it's not wise to compare Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.

Recycled? For sure, it's true for Furious Seven but no way in hell anybody is convincing me that Age of Ultron had recycled action or anything even remotely similar to first Avengers.
Been a long time since you watched Mad Max and Mad Max The Road Warrior? If yes, then watch it again and then we'll see how it goes.
