No. I am not going to hate "Ender's Game" like many other disgruntled 'fans'. It felt like a kids movie, i was in the mood, and it felt awesome. War Games being played by kids, That's some tactical sh*t right there.
~
Welcome to battle school.
The lead actor
Asa Butterfield kinda grew on me, and i started to like his twisted angry looks. Cute, for a child star, and impressive character portrayal. Plus,
Hailee Steinfeld is just love. All the actors, especially the senior ones feel right at home. Well, apart from
Ben Kingsley. WTF was up with that stupid accent?
The futuristic touch was fabulous. Can't wait to get in the era of '
Cerebral Controlled games' (that '
poison choice' was interesting). Also, being a hardcore gamer myself, live simulation of battlefield touched me
Yeah, its exciting. The strategies presented are shocking. I wasn't really expecting them to sacrifice their team mates
that quickly. Understandable, in an actual war, but children doing that kinda stuff was ... well, disturbing.
No matter. Gorgeous CGI doubled all the fun. Alien Race was ... different. That '
queen scene' in the end, that creature was pretty convincing. The '
final battle simulation' is where the most entertainment resides. '
Rings upon rings, layers upon layers', and then '
drones bullet-like beam' to clear a line of sight; Though I must say i wasn't ready for that surprise. Well played.
Noteworthy Dialogues:
"
You're never ready. You go when you are ready enough."
"
The way we win matters."
Didn't fancy the way characters were following a pre-destined path ... by the director/script-writer.
Ender gets unusual treatment while the rest of the 'genius' children barely having a presence. And i may have shouted out a huge "What the f*ck" at the actual ending. Honestly ... it was pretty damn entertaining that i forgot to notice of the bad stuff. I liked it overall, so the bad is forgiven.
7/10.
