Game in general is cpu limited. Act 3 pushes it further.

Alex presented only the best case scenarios in his cpu video, he did mention it can get pretty bad.

Also, game prefers DX api over the other apis, PS5 doesnt have DX either, anyway not that I care all that much about Larian or this game.

Enjoy yer ' bear hunting ' :p

Edge Magazine - 10/10

Not so much a revelation as it is a long-overdue reunion, Baldur's Gate 3 is a glittering gala that brings together almost 40 years of RPG innovation. Mingle with the crowd and you'll find virtually everyone in attendance. The dark choices and lingering consequences of CD Projekt brood in one corner, while the emergent play of Ultima and its Underworld cousins set fire to the tablecloth in another. The dice rolls and branching dialogue of early BioWare chat amiably with the cinematic drama of the studio's later years. Even Planescape: Torment is here, and it's every bit as weird and amusing as you'd expect.
Upon finishing a game such as this, there can be a feeling of listlessness, of not knowing what to do with yourself. That's not the case here. As the credits roll, you'll think less about the experience you had, and more about the one you didn't. How would the adventure go if you made this decision, or played as that class? What would happen if you tried this, or did that? Baldur's Gate 3 leaves you with as many ideas as it does memories. That, surely, is the soul of roleplaying.
Spot on 🤜

Act 3 cpu bottlenecks aside, it is a solid port on the PS5 actually.

The quality mode is a match of the PC's Ultra preset with dof and shadows slightly better than the PC lol, 1440p native @30, rock solid. (Minus the Act 3 ofcourse)

Performance mode has tearing and FSR but still the target res. is 1440p, almost similar IQ feature set and hits 60 majority of the time.

Since the gameplay is turn based, the quality mode is the preferred mode imo..

Add another to the list of sub-1080p performance modes.

Dead Space Remake - 800p
Forspoken - 720p
Jedi Survivor - 684p
FF16 - 756p
Remnant 2 - 720p
Immortals - 720p
BG3 - 960p

And load times twice as long. Ooof.

Turn-based games are playable even at 15 fps lol.

* where most of these are worst case values lmao.

And Jedi Survivor's IQ appears to have been improved on PS5 in performance mode after RT was disabled in the recent patch.

And load times twice as long. Ooof.
How is that an "Ooof" when it says in the image that the CPU is tasked with decompression/loading. Blame the devs for not taking advantage of the PS5's dedicated decompression hardware 🤷‍♂️

And how did CerebralTiger manage to completely ignore an Edge 10/10? Lagta hai kaafi sadmaa pohancha hai LMAOOOOO

Allow me to explain.

A Zen 2700, which is a 2 years older architecture than what the PS5 has, paired with an almost decade old SATA 550MB/s SSD, is still loading ~10secs faster when the CPU is tasked with decompression/loading.

So technically, its a BIG OOOOOF :ROFLMAO:

That just goes to show the incompetence of Larian lol.

If someone is loosing to a mehran when he himself is driving the Ferrari, who's fault is that ?

Not using the dedicated hardware in the first place is baffling, that too in a CPU limited environment!

Nooooooooooobs!

We've already established that Edge can give 10/10 to games where combat takes a backseat to the overall experience. From that standpoint, the score isn't surprising to me at all.

Lends further credibility to the idea that the devs didn't take advantage of the PS5's IO capabilities. Ratchet has already confirmed that no PC config can compete with the PS5 when it comes to streaming sizeable chunks of data 🤷‍♂️

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO imagine thinking combat takes a back seat in BG3.

"that standpoint" LMFAOOOO

But they didn't take advantage on PC either and older configs still outperform the PS5 🤜 :ROFLMAO:

Turn-based combat ain't combat. It's a loose approximation of what the actual combat would've been like :ROFLMAO:

Well when you leave everything to the CPU, even a lesser PC processor clocked higher can outperform the PS5 for decompression/loading tasks 🤷‍♂️

That's still higher than it's total play length. A 5 hour campaign for a $50 game is downright scammy.

The cross gen era really made people think 60fps would be a new standard lol

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.
