Their primary audience is on PC, so good on them for not arbitrarily making PC players wait until they fix PS5 version. 👍

“We wanted to same-ship, and then when we realized that it wasn’t going to happen we started looking at what was possible to release it,” Vincke told Kotaku. “Then we saw that it was a very busy year, with Zelda, with Diablo, and Starfield, with Cyberpunk, and then there’s Final Fantasy—so we started looking ‘okay, well, what’s the good spot when people will be able to play and they’re not going to be fighting for attention?’ We have this game essentially ready to use on PC. So August 3 looked like a good one. So that’s why we picked that one.”
And looks like my $30 early access copy will be upgraded to Deluxe Edition. Nice nice.

Larian is a god tier RPG game studio. I think i have sinked in 120 + hours on DS 2 and i distinctly remember being addicted to that game once i started it.

CANNOT wait for BG 3 to come out. I'll most probably play this on the steam deck if the performance is good.

Both the games are gems. But my personal recommendation is Balder Gate, mainly due to its team-oriented gameplay rather than a solo storyline like Diablo.

I have played Balder Gate 1 and 2 and the closely related games: Icewind Dale and Never Winter Night series 1-3. The gameplay of these games is much more engaging due to the teamwork element.
But if you prefer solo gameplay, Diablo 4 is your game.

I have skipped both BG3 and Diablo 4 as you tend to become bored with this click and hash genre game after playing for the umpteenth time. However, if this is your first time in indulging with this genre, you will bound to enjoy the experience. I have rather fond memories of these games with characters, especially Minsc and his hamster Boo, Jaheira, Aerie, Korgan Bloodaxe and Jan Jansen.

I haven't played any Diablo game ever so i cant comment on that but if you are fan of RPG genre then you will love whatever Larian has on offer. Even if turn based gameplay isn't your jam, i would suggest to give it a try for a few hours, I'm sure it'll grow on you.

Personally, I have always been a fan of turn based games. Especially the old school stuff like Jagged Alliance and Commandos and the more recent Wasteland 3 and Mutant year zero. Out of all these games that i have played in this genre, Larian most definitely tops every one else.

Which one has the better story/narrative & characters ?

Also, can I play either without havin' to play the previous entries in the franchise ?

P.S, I love cinematic games!

Not much of a comparison honestly. The only thing in common between the two is the camera perspective.

Diablo 4 is all about loot and improving your character build with gear but with easy to get into straight forward action combat.

BG3, in comparison, is extremely story heavy, with choices and consequences and very high level of interactivity with the world and party-based turn based combat.

You don't have to play the previous games.

That settles it then.

BG 3 it is!

A bit skeptical about the turn-based nature of the combat though, but its ok!

Agreed. This game is for someone who has lots of free time. It took me nearly two years of four hours a day of gaming to complete all quests in BG2.

D&D games are for gaming nerds with no social life, as I was about two decades ago.
For casual gamers with an active social life (and esp. married ones), games like Days Gone, Uncharted and others are the way to go.

Worry not developers, there will always be people who still call whatever CBU3 put out an "RPG" :ROFLMAO:

Just remembered the name of another favorite studio of Necrokiller's. Larian! Waiting to see how Baldur's Gate 3 turns out
Should be interesting 🤷‍♂️😆

The astonishing number of layers of reactivity built into Baldur’s Gate III, though, means that each and every time a gamer plays this game they will have a different experience.
My mind was left flayed thinking about the almost scary openness of this game, an openness that allows players to play how they want and choose what they want to do at a super-granular, reactive level.
The reactivity to player choice this game offers, regardless of anything else, makes it a landmark moment in the history of gaming.
Choice truly is king in Baldur’s Gate III, in a way that I’ve never experienced before in gaming
However, there is one thing that I do know after playing the game and hearing about the journey Vincke, Smith and the Larian team have been on for six years – RPGs are about to be changed forever with Baldur’s Gate III.
