^^Running away in Alan Wake wasn't anything less than tedious either though, When you press RB he sprints for about 3-5 seconds and then starts panting, basically after that any of the taken can catch up and start sawing his head off.So unless the safe heaven is only 10-15 feet away you just have to turn around and focus your flashlight at some point in the chase.

well yes that's the point, run a little, turn around and blind the enemies, and use that cinematic dodge to it's fullest .. you can very easily avoid fights.

Agree with you there. If you are out of ammo most of the time you are pretty much fucked. On one occasion I was half way between the generator and Taken behind me, rushed towards the generator but wasn't able to start it due to the insanely accurate hammer throws. There was a safe heaven up ahead so I sprinted for it and even with the head start, they caught up in a flash and a few more Taken popped up in front of me. The dodging mechanic isn't that effective either when you are surrounded like that. It does get pretty frustrating at times. I was playing on Normal which I found out later that is equivalent to the Nightmare setting on 360.

Man you guys really must suck at the game -_- ... a well placed flair and just generally strafing left and right is key in avoiding those well placed axe throws ...

@Omyakha, man u serious ? :S The final episode was so good, and you really shouldn't stop to fight every single enemy .. especially since the combat isn't the strong suite, i guess everyone who's trying to tackle it as a shooter and fight every single thing will feel that .. just run away when you can, if there' a light source in view dart for it. alan is a writer afterall, he's probably more inclined to run the fuck away from things anyway .. also the ending made perfect sense for the kind of game it is, especially since alan wake is a twisted writer and all the parallel's to his Alex Casey books .. AND DAT DAVIE BOWIE .. HOW AWESOME IS THAT FINAL SONG ? Ground control to Major Tom !
Well that is what I ended up doing, I don't think I killed even a single enemy in the final episode. I saved up all my flares and used them appropriately. One flare is usually enough to make it to the light. I never complained about the ending, I loved it. The plot is what kept me playing this game till the end.

I was playing on Normal which I found out later that is equivalent to the Nightmare setting on 360.
This explains so much. It's a wonder I ever completed the game.
Those hammer/sickle are deadly accurate, strafing left and right doesn't help either. They always manage to get you. The dodge system requires spot on timing. Also you can't dodge through them (e.g going under their attacks and to their back), only to the sides. This can be annoying in those tight spaces, basically most of the time.

@Chandoo: Nah even if you dodge once the system isn't intuitive enough when there are multiple enemies throwing axes at you from different directions. I guess with better controls they decided to ramp up the difficulty in general :p

And I did say 'If you are out of ammo'. Even then, the flash bangs are easily the most powerful of all the available arsenal. While the game gets frustrating some times, flash bangs make you too powerful and cheapens the encounters which are supposed to be tough in the first place.

I find that I am able to dodge properly now. You just have to keep your focus on those axe throwers, and let the melee monsters come close. As soon as axe thrower taken throws axe, press shift + direction (left or right ONLY). You have to do it as soon as he throws. Else dodging the axe when it comes near you would be useless :)...

Same for melee taken. As soon as they initiate their attack animation, press shift + direction and you'll dodge it successfully.

The game is decent, but sometimes its like as if the computer has taken control over the game, instead of me taking control of it (due to shit load of cut-scenes, etc).

This game would be much better without any form of combat actually, something like Shattered Memories! That game was so awesome!!

I haven't found it hard as of yet, just that one occasion when I was out of ammo but I managed to run away :p
Does it get harder in the later chapters?

Finished. PHEW!.

Long game. Loved it. 8/10 from side.

What I didn't like was the fact that, you, 99% of the time didn't stop when you stopped pressing the forward key. You float a bit and sometimes if on edge, you fall off.

Same cheap-thrill tactics of sudden flashing image and extreme sound. Alan's face, as said everywhere, was emotionless.

BUT everything else was prefect. Its not like what sharry bhallu described as 'jumping form hill to hill'. Its much more than that.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!
