I think Denuvo is fine, it's about time people started buying games instead of pirating. Denuvo is not bad because it does not interfere or needs to stay always online, nor does it has that annoying "limits of activations" thingy Securom has. I am all for it, what needs to be done is cheaper region pricing for Pakistan.

You have a lot of time and money invested in Steam and I am sure you know a lot of people similarly from Pakistan that are doing the same. In the current age of globalization, you guys need to rise up and build a platform where you can grab Valve's attention. Let your voices be heard by Valve and demand them regional pricing. But you will need to show them the numbers too, if there is a significant amount of users who are ready to go legit, then I don't see why Valve or other companies will refuse to invest in a Pakistani-focused market.

I have thought of this many times but we really need a platform to show there are legit users here who are willing to purchase games provided we get some cheaper price or other incentive for it. One company's arrival will signal others to join and if things go well, we can have our own PSN, Steam, Origin, Windows Store and Xbox Live region-based stores.

I couldn't agree more, in Pakistan the gamer population is less compared to some other countries which have gotten regional pricing like Russia, India etc. You can literally buy a AAA game in India for less than 1000 Rupees.

Even if there are no regional pricing you can still get VERY good deals on Steam sales, there's plenty of other websites like Greenmangaming and bundle sites which frequently put games on sale. It's a matter of being patient. If people can wait for sometime games will eventually go on sale and most of the time they go on sale for 75% or more which means a AAA game in the $10-$15 range. Keep in mind this is exactly what Denuvo is trying to do as well, what they want is to make sure the games aren't cracked in the first couple of months which is when most of the sale of the games occur, if that's successful then even if the game gets cracked the initial sales would've be boosted somewhat. This will give developers more confindence in PC gaming and hell it can even convince some developers who only make games for Consoles to make games for PC as well.

For regional pricing, if the prices are in 20-30$ range for AAA titles (you seriously can't expect 1000/- deals for newly released AAA titles here in pakistan given the abysmal size of the gamer market as compared to India), I think that would attract alot more people to go legit. And with steam sales from time to time, the prices would drop in hundreds. I think there's already a sizeable legit PC gaming community, maybe even greater than both PS+Xbox players combined.

Start comparing India and Russia's economy to Pakistan and you'll get your answer. Its really not as simple as showing Valve that X amount of people are willing to buy legit games. I'm sure they can already extract those figures from their database based on our profiles and purchase history.

I am sure this has less to do with the overall economy and more to do with the e-commerce laws. Maybe things will change as the government tries to work on their plan to create an environment for companies like Amazon and Paypal, that were rumored a while ago.

this is a very interesting topic
In the current market some games cant be pirated at all e.g MOST blizzard games so thats out of the question. But their games are not just products but services.
I have yet to play a game from this company where i havent felt that each and every penny i spent have been worth it. thats why its the only developer whose games i preorder eyes closed as i know there will be enough quality content at launch and post launch that my investment wont go wasted. the same can be said for valve.
Now some games especially SP games are simply not worth their asking price may be because of lack of quality or quantity or both but it is better to wait for a sale.
In the end for me it all depends on the type of game.

I see everyone Abuses will lead to baning about piracy or no piracy. Leave all the big companies and let's think of a studio such as XSeed which is primarily based on 9-10 people... and translates all those cool japanese games in English for us, we don't even know how hard that is and how much time it takes. And here we go torrent that shit out and start playing. We don't even know how much they need our help in order to get them going, even then they are still doing it for the people who still buy that. I went to torrent that japanese game out, and there were people commenting "For God's sake buy this game, XSeed worked very hard, if we don't support they'll shut down pls." Damn, just damn :s No matter what the conditions are in our country, nothing can justify our downloading of games without paying for their efforts..

or just remove XSEED and put in literally any dev, it's the exact same thing.

Videogames ARE a luxury, if you're talking about current PC/Console state of the art releases. If you're broke, get a PS2 and even legit games can be had for 200-1000Rs a pop. Or get a cheap android and play free games. Or freewares on PC or steam deals or save your Eidy's and get it.

I mean I can't afford a Lamborghini, shouldn't mean it's ok to steal it because I really like it? And no, piracy is not stealing argument doesn't hold. You ARE depriving the developers of their fair share by copying a game. If a 20,000 people play a game in Pakistan, then that's $1million in revenue which the devs could've invested in their next game. (even if they spend that million on a vacation and come back and make a game, it'll positively affect the quality of that game).

Those are the facts. But I used to pirate the crap out of games when I wasn't earning fulltime, because there weren't any catches, you could get away with anything and you didn't compromise on features of the game. But now, I don't bother with Piracy because:

#1 , The hassle of getting pirated games running.
#2 , the compromise on features like online modes.

It's easier for me to shell out $50 than bother with the above nuisances. I'm not sure how I'd have handled lack of MP during my piracy days. We just played Counter Strike then lol.

Guys.

Just because our economy is shit, and not many of us earn a lot, and you have no real clue of giving value to games development does not mean we get to have stuff cheaper. If you make 15-20k, you cannot buy a PC or PS4 either.

Seriously you guys make the most stupid argument on 'but its too expensive for us'. Seriously ? Did you steal your consoles or PC equipment too ? Because last time I checked all of those things are expensive too. And its the same globally. People buy 350US$ PS4s then buy 60US$ games. You buy a 35-40 thousand ka PS4 and then buy 5000-6000 kay games.

The only real difference is that earn 350US$ is USA is easier than 40,000 in Pakistan. Different economies. But then, prices are different too. Basic food items, like vegetables, can cost TEN times as much in the USA.

Well said. I have made a nice steam library of games by waiting for sales dicounts. There have been only a handful of games I bought for full price. Just last night I got Mad max from humble monthly bundle for $12. which is a bargain.

Piracy in the end is a slow poison and it has given rise to the freemium model. Which we can all agree sucks.
