i'm actually playing GOW3 right now.

Ok, yeah the game looks pretty fucking amazing.

I did notice one very odd thing though, contrary to what should be normal, when I copied the entire game to the internal HDD, there were a lot of small loading stops, and the PS3 HDD lamp was constantly on full blast.

I ran the game from the external HDD then and there's no more loading stops and the HDD lights are more reasonable now, as they should be.

I imagine like GTAV, this game is doing a lot of background caching (since it doesnt have a mandatory install) and it's probably not a good idea to bottleneck the HDD so much.

for reference, the USB im using is a 250GB 5400RPM Sata drive, i believe the internal is also a 5400 RPM by default.

i don't need to because all that crap doesn't add or remove anything from what makes that the best JRPG in the last few years

also, i set up an FTP connection with my PS3 too, copying shit just became a whole lot easier.

one thing about the PS2 games though, sure loading times are a lot faster than on a PS2, but they're still a few seconds, like P4 still takes 3~4 seconds to load an area, i'd imagine they would be instantaneous .. looks like the loading icons are hard coded into the game.

FFXII scales up really nicely to HD, but the big yellow text boxes in P4 have some bad aliasing even with the smoothing turned on.

Really happy with how well FFXII scales though. It also has a in-game wide screen option, so I don't have to worry about stretching or playing the game in a 4 : 3 box (unlike Persona ;( ).

also, am pretty far into God of War III, will finish this first before starting FFXII properly (screw you PS3 games ).

God of War III looks pretty god damn phenomenal I must say. Though, most of the "awesome" shit is relegated to backgrounds only -_-

Ok, so I finished my second PS3 game.

God of War III

- Really liked the visual design of the game, the in-game cinematics look borderline CG. In-fact some elements look better than the CGI movies of GOW1, for example the Kratos model in some of the close up shots, the skin shading and detail is great.

- Gameplay is .. just a carbon copy of all previous GOW games, so there was not much in the sense of unique game play mechanics etc.

- The game was fairly short, and the difficulty (on normal) was very low, it's like the game was designed for maximum eye-candy potential only.

- Some of the areas (like the little balcony place before the final fight with zeus (and before Gaia comes in)) begins, looked amazing. The tornadoes blowing in the background etc all make it look like "a painting come to life" in some scenes .. a claim that was made when the game was new .

- That being said, the game is nowhere 60 FPS though, sure it gets there in really small empty locations, but majority it is hovering between 30 and 50 going by the judder.

- QTE's .. QTE's everywhere !, even more so than previous GOW games.

- Apparently the version i've copied is a "rip" of the game, meaning the Treasure section videos do not exist in the folders

- The ending of the trilogy (and first person fighting) was very unsatisfying, even worse than Mass Effect 3 (pre Extended edition patch).

- more fucking QTE's. At least I kept punching Zeus until the "Retribution" trophy popped up lol.

I would have to say I enjoyed GOW3, at least a lot more than MGS4.

Ok now I think I'm gonna go play FFXII for-realz, After that I might start either Uncharted or Last of Us, depending on the trend.
