Though i had already installed leaked Update 1 package, but yesterday i received Update 1 again (about 180Mb), no major visual changes since the leaked ones.

So just finished installing the Update 1. I think it 'showed' me nearly 900MB of Download but it was less, as the whole updating process of 1.6GB (all the updates including Microsoft Office) was complete in like 40-45 minutes ... on a 2Mb connection, at 200KB/s of uninterrupted speeds.

Can't really say anything about the update. It feels ... weired, to be honest.

Anyone else noticed that Closing the Modern Apps still leaves them in memory.

To check, close an app (say, Email or People App) ... and check the task manager. It will still be there.

What sorcery is this? Not that its bothering me or impacting the performance, but i am curious.

frazgta! Zero impact on performance on my home PCs (atleast 7)

Yes, too bad. Closing means suspending the modern application.

On a side note, you got holy moly 7 no. of PC at home? :hah:

I ended up uninstalling that update. It made my 64 bit laptop a bit sluggish and laggy. After uninstalling, it was back to normal.
I updated my primary PC twice, once using leaked .msus and then using Windows Update on April 8th, both screwed up my right-click in Metro environment and also broke my Burnout Paradise game, I even tried reinstalling it via Origin with no success but the same installation worked fine when I performed a fresh Windows installation.

For Update 1 changelog: Windows 8.1 Update 1: 10 Key Changes - InformationWeek

Minor changes. And it took them 5-6 months for that. REALLY MS? Up your game damnit.
Those aren't the only changes M$ has made: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askpfepl...rt-screen-desktop-and-other-enhancements.aspx

This is why you should NEVER update your Primary OS with leaked material. If you really want to test it out, then install VMWare Workstation, and emulate it ... provided you have the horsepower needed to do the job.

Basically, i was referring to the "KEY" changes. Those 10 changes are basically all there is ... if you know what i mean. The link i have posted, mentiones TEN key changes, spread on 11 pages (11th page is just an opinion though).

Sir, those "leaks" were straight from M$ servers and not from some-random-russian-leaker. I exactly knew what I saw doing.

I have just noticed Two very interested things with Update 1. Please tell me if its just me.

- The 'handful' of games (COD Ghosts & State of Decay) with Mouse Pointer issues under Win8.1 ... seem to have been FIXED
- Minimizing/Maximizing animations seem Smoother than before. Smoother, and QUICKER.

- - - Updated - - -

A leak is a leak. Doesn't matter if they come from "official" source of "Unofficial" source.

UI elements, maybe. But i get the sarcasm.

It's overall faster and smoother for me as well, I just didn't bother to post here. :p

EDIT:

Almost all the leaks related to win8 have been spot on. Even the latest MSDN ISOs were first made available by WZT so I don't see how it's any different than waiting for the actual release.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 installation problems continue

Microsoft is continuing to address problems with Windows 8.1 Update 1, its first major update to the operating system formerly known as Windows Blue and a mandatory install for anyone who wants to continue to receive security updates in the future.
Source: bit-tech

Looks like just installing "leaked" material doesn't cause problems. :p Also, the more responsiveness some of us are experiencing could be because of their "more focus" on desktop environment this time around.

Still no start menu during full-screen apps (games, basically). I'd like to be able to use Skype while I'm gaming without having to ALT+Tab to the desktop. The Snap feature during games would also be great.

Both of these features are available on the Xbox One.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
