MULTI Why play Final Fantasy?

Thread title explains it all. I never played FF series in my life. A few days ago, I tried it on my phone and didn't liked it(it was FFIII). I know it was old one but I actually hate turn

base combat. I have seen guys talking about FF series all the time and I don't know what is good in it. Maybe story or other elements. So if you guys have experience with FF

series then please convince me to try this series. I thought to try it many times but it never happened. Keep it mind that I don't like turn base combat at all.

If you don't like turn based battles than don't bother you'll never like FF, However I too was once like you, I Hated turn based battles and detested J RPGs.That was until I played Pokemon on GBA and even after that I didn't play any other J RPGs, then I played FF XIII and loved it, after which I played as many J RPGs as I could.Just get FF VIII on your PC on an emulator.It's one of the most accessible games in the series, The story is good, charcters are alright and there's no grind provided that you can understand the junction system but you can always look up a guide for it.

Or you can get FF XIII on your PS3 and enjoy some cool CGI but linear gameplay, but XIII has the fastest battle system in the franchise.Or FF VII I guess lol.I'd recommend IX since it's my fav but it's really grindy, slow paced and the random battles can be a pain so hold that off for later.

But seriously dude PLAY PERSONA 4 if you haven't already, beats ever FF by miles. :tv:

When I played FF VIII, I really liked the story and characters. But I absolutely hated the combat. It sucks, sequences take so long (the long animation that happens after you initiate/win a battle) and happens VERY frequently. I stopped playing the game after 5-8 hours because of this. <__<

Everything else was decent. Graphics were the usual jumpy PS1 graphics. Sound track was great. Dialog was interesting. But the combat drags the whole game down.

^^Shary.........I though you were playing FF IX? Anyways turn based battles always tend to stretch out to some length.I finished FF VIII in 5 days with a total game time of 26 hours, I was completely hooked to it from start to finish, It was worse with FF IX but that took more time.

final fantasy is awesome. the story line everything. yeah the turn based battles are annoying but still.

Ok gizmo, I am going to try final fantasy viii as I say. I am free for next 15 days so I can play many games during this time. I hope it don't disappoint me.

in start FF games looks boring but as u progress into game u completely hook with game. u need patience for playing ff

I say you start with FFX. It has the most "explosive" starting.

^^He said he doesn't like turn based battles and FF X is a totally turn based game unlike the PS1 games.

Since you don't like turn-based combat, the only FF game I can recommend is FFXII. It still isn't 100% real-time, but you can move your character around during combat Plus, there are none of those awful battle transition loading screens.

^This. First Final Fantasy game I've played and it's not turn based. The story, characters, combat. Everything is A+!

Chrono Trigger is the best game if you want to get in to JRPGs in general, honestly. Fast paced battles, visible enemy encounters (barring ambushes) and no separate battle screen. Perfect game for both new and old comers.

FFVII is the most accessible FF so it's a great starting point for the series. Materia system is easy to get a grasp of and it isn't too grindy but the encounter rate in the beginning, especially on the world map, will drive you up the wall

what a coincidence, I was going to get chrono trigger right after FFVIII. Any way FFVIII 30% done. Inshallah will play it tommorow.
