bro i had the same issue since november and after long struggle to make them fix the issue but all in vain so last month i downgraded to 4mbps unlimited and everything is fine since then...i think they intentionally mess up the 8mbps profile of high bandwidth users i used to download over 400 500 gb per month on 8mbps...you may downgrade just to see if it fixes this particular problem.?

bro i used the 2048 (2mb) profile for 1 day as they were testing that 2mb package has the same problem or not but it had the same problem so i reverted back to 8mb the next day.

Thanks for reply, line man said just VDSL card will be installed and wire will not be changed its copper wire from exchange to DP. May be connection is capable of VDSL thats why they are saying only card will be installed. Will they install a card for only 1 customer? i mean old customers are using 8MB via ADSL. All DPs in our area are ADSl

Easiest method to differentiate is that on VDSL your phone will not work and you will need a VDSL capable modem. Yes theoretically its possible but PTCL is not stupid enough to install a VDSL card on a DP that's running on ancient copper wires. They will only install them when they know their infrastructure will be able to handle decent enough speeds which simply isn't possible on ADSL.

VDSL card is not user based, installing a card means now the area where the DP is located has vdsl capability. The old customers who are using ADSL will remain on ADSL until they specifically request for VDSL and are using 8 Mbps or higher connections.

IMO there is absolutely no reason to apply for VDSL just for 8 Mbit connection, disadvantages outweigh any benefit you will gain from VDSL.
The only benefit you will have of 8 Mbit VDSL over ADSL is that you will get 2 mbps upload speed instead of 1 mbps. Disadvantage is that you can't use a telephone with DSL and smart tv is also not possible i think.

They provide 2 wires for VDSL one for internet and other for telephone + Smart Tv , ADSL is not working properly in our area so i allied for VDSL

No dear now they provide 2 wires contact PTCL they will give you other connection, they clearly told me i will get 2 wires. So if i get 8Mb via ADSL it wil work fine? i am fade up from 4mb and closed that connection.
They didn't provide me 2 wires and i am using 20 Mbit. They made it very clear that my phone won't work.

That would mean 2 numbers and 2 separate bills, 1 will be specifically for VDSL and other for normal usage which will have telephone and other normal stuff. It doesn't matter to me because i got second line specifically for internet and already have a normal old ptcl line for phone usage.

Good let me know if otherwise because if its true then i am also gonna call ptcl and ask for another wire for telephone. I don't really need it as i have other number but if its possible to run phone with VDSL then why not.

Its good then you should totally go for VDSL.
About 8mb working on ADSL that depends totally on your area. I have used 12mbit ADSL for 2 years and stability was over 95%. 8mb should work fine on ADSL in most cases unless you are living very far from your local exchange.
You said you used 4mb before, what were your stats? Do you remember what SNR or attenuation you used to get on 4mb?

i dont know how to attach image have a speed test screenshot, According to speedtest result speed was 1Mb download , below 0.5Mbs download, youtube 360p video can be played but stops many times, 260p was played without stopping.
IDM download after 12am sometime goes 400KBs

Which modem do you have and how long have you had it for?

PTCL ones tend to act up if repeatedly powered on and off (by loadshedding).
Get a new Zyxel modem if possible from your Exchange. The new firmware is quite nice and the modem will probably work better than older ones as well.

So old medium sized copper DP nearby (supplying connection to the smaller DPs) was removed completely yesterday and wires all patched up to Fiber box now. They have routed new wire from new copper DP for connection to us but still not installed yet.

DSL has been up, phone line too BUT when someone dials our number, says THE NUMBER DOES NOT EXIST. I guess something messed up during upgrades. Made a complaint today about it.

Changed DSL modulation from ADSL2+ to Gdmt if I am calling it correctly and ping improved by 30 ms almost. WHY????

Ofcourse the theoratical capability of line changed from 27 Mbps to 11-12 Mbps with this.

The installation of a fiber cabinet, is both good and bad.

Good - No more copper wire bullshit, and better performance, possibility of VDSL etc.

Bad - You will probably be the last people ever to get GPON then.

As for the calling issue, it happened with me as well, file a complaint with the exchange and 1218, it'll be fixed. In my experience, landline issues are always fixed a lot easier than BB ones.

I knew G.DMT reduced latency a bit for the sake of performance, but holy crap 30 ms?

Pleased with the Fiber Cabinet for now, lol, until this feeling wears out. Shall see then.

Brother showed a clip where the guy was using PTCL and told of optimum settings to get best ping. Simply changed the modulation and voila!

In ADSL stats, check for the row that says "Delay" and compare downstream/upstream delay with that of when you're on ADSL2+ modulation. These settings are set on the MSAG and can vary from MSAG to MSAG. I guess your ADSL2+ delay was quite high or you're moving to FAST datapath when going on G.DMT. Anyways, whatever the case, enjoy nice pings :p

Yes, but it depends on the cabinet itself.
My GPON connection comes from a MSAG cabinet.

However, a similar one in Phase 5 Bahria may not support GPON.

If the cabinet doesn't have the required equipment for GPON and if fiber to home cables haven't been laid, then it's obviously not going to work.
