Yes, but it depends on the cabinet itself.
My GPON connection comes from a MSAG cabinet.

However, a similar one in Phase 5 Bahria may not support GPON.

If the cabinet doesn't have the required equipment for GPON and if fiber to home cables haven't been laid, then it's obviously not going to work.

Because they've just newly gotten these cabinets for DSL, and they're focusing GPON on the other phases, excluding 5 and 6.

Once GPON is complete in those phases, then maybe Phase 5 and 6 will be considered, but for now, they aren't.

Symmetrical download and upload isn't a necessity on GPON, it's just that it IS possible, but isn't being done by a lot of ISPs including PTCL.

Nayatel does it, but their packages are crap.

ISPs abroad in the US, UK and Europe usually don't provide symmetrical download and upload speeds because they don't want home users to have the ability to host servers on home connections, so upload speeds are usually below 50 Mbps, even on extremely high speed connections.

Of course there are always exceptions though, such as Google Fiber which provides 1000 up and down, but with limited availability.

stoemfiber, fiberlink, and others are providing symmetric speeds, and it is great

I'm sure they'll stop soon as well.

They still have a very small customer base (of home users), compared to Nayatel and PTCL.

Once the numbers start rising, the packages will either become more expensive, or they'll half the upload speeds.

I would disagree, this is in trend, whole world have come to this, so I don't see them deviating

Eventually after enough complaints, one of them manages to make its way to someone with technical knowledge, hence this call back you received.

Let us know how it goes and if they can solve the problem. Seems like an overloaded ONU causing it to go bonkers at peak hours.

I got PTCL Broadband 2-3 months ago and recently i have been noticing that Facebook videos don't work properly on it. Most of the time, the video doesn't even load up and sometimes it take ages to load. Can someone tell me what's wrong? Is it only me or there is something wrong at PTCL end. YouTube videos and all other videos work fine though.

it is mostly Facebook's fault but it is not always like that so you should wait a bit

In ADSL stats, check for the row that says "Delay" and compare downstream/upstream delay with that of when you're on ADSL2+ modulation. These settings are set on the MSAG and can vary from MSAG to MSAG. I guess your ADSL2+ delay was quite high or you're moving to FAST datapath when going on G.DMT. Anyways, whatever the case, enjoy nice pings :p
The delay is 15 ms, so does this mean 15+ ms ping delay? If so WHYYY. BTW. The datapath/line state is FAST by default, even for ADSL. I also wanted to ask, the Fiber Box/MSAG is connected through the local area exchange or it connects directly to PTCL HQ or some other place and then onwards?

If I go for IPTV, with 8Mbps package, will it work without causing download speed issues? What will be the profile set to usually for IPTV + 8Mbps?

MSAG connects to the exchange, exchange connects to data center and onwards is a very long way.

Profile for IPTV + 8 Mbps is set to around 11500 kbps downstream, at least that's how it is for a friend living in Phase 8. He's never had issues with download speed.
