I did exactly as suggested in your post and flashed my DSL-2750U HW J1 successfully. But the Lan ports don't work now and the lights of the router have changed their responses apart from DSL and Internet lights.
But I can surely connect and it's better than stock PTCL firmware. I managed to also find the latest update at D'link South Africa ftp portal ftp://ftp.d-link.co.za/DSL/DSL-2750...n T/T3/DSL-2750u_Firmware_AF_2.01_R03_Latest/ and flashed it successfully.
Furthermore I have noticed that both of the T3 updates I did, they didn't have any ".img" extension, in fact they didn't have any extension at all. While I tried to upload the image file with ".img" extension it failed but T3 didn't have any extension so it worked. I think PTCL router should be upgraded without those .img extensions. If you have a firmware that comes with the extension then remove the extension and upload it (only if with the .img extension, it fails).

Last thing, Dlink Middle East support website shows DSL-2750U HW J1 but firmware is not available. D-Link
Me and [MENTION=127605]CuriousDevil[/MENTION] tried flashing a J1 modem. Did not brick, but the modem was scrap since it refused to connect to the internet, and the lights were wonky.
The chipset, partition sizes and everything is identical on both the T3 and J1, but the outside body of the J1 is different and obviously something else was too considering it didn't work.

Is it true that PTCL Broadband works better on Fibre Optics than a Copper Cable or it's still pain in the a** ?
On real fiber optics, it works fantastically, but if your exchange and/or fiber cabinet has crap equipment, it will always be a pain in the ass.

So I have problem with PTCL lineman kind of asking for bribe and i also suspect him of intentionally messing with my connection. Net wasn't working properly a month back due to low speed (i was on 4mb instead of 16mb, I checked the router settings). After 2 weeks of calls to helpline and having my office call the linesman to my house at least 2/3 times nothing changed.

I was home about 2 weeks back during the day and asked a guy at my office to call the linesman and tell him to come today as i'm home so i could ask him myself WTF is going on. So, lineman comes with a DSL guy from exchange and connection is showing 16mb somehow in settings of the router. So I ask him wht was the problem and why he didn't fix it during his previous visits. He replies "Sir mai aya tha laikin koi ghar pay hota hi nahi hai, ye chota larka hota hai bus" he emphasized the no one is at home part quite a bit. He said the wire running to your house had burn and a cut in 2 places so I fixed that. I read on this forum that if your router is showing low speed then it's a setting issue at the exchange and not a line fault ? I mean how can a "jor" in line coming from pole make my speed in router setting show 16mb instead of 4mb ? He also said it's really hard to get in touch with the IT guy at your office when I come to fix the connection.

I had told the guy at my office to give him some money whenever there is an issue with the net to make Lineman come and get it fixed ASAP, but I said this when I used to have issues every 3/4 months. He didn't actually ASK for money when I met him but i'm sure he wanted it from the things he said so I was generous and finally relieved to have good speed again and gave him 1000 instead of 500 which my office guy would give him every few months when there was an issue.

After like 10 days phone line goes dead again !! Called the DSL guy who came to my place and he says due to maintenance whole society's phone lines are down. Will be up n running by the next day, 3 days pass and I call the Linesman to report the issue and the first thing he asks me is Sir are you home !! I said yes and he arrives after 1.5 hrz, by that time i'm out and get a call from him saying i'm at your place and everything is fixed you will get super fast speed blah blah. I ask what was the problem and he replies some crap about faulty line pairs( I think this is the 3rd time i've heard faulty line pairs in the past 6 months) or whatever due to current passing the wrong way through my wire !? So I ask a servant to give him rs500. I come home and check the net, guess what !?! I'm back on a 4mb connection again !! So I will have to call him again tomorrow.

Am I supposed to keep giving him 500/1000 every 10 days and even while doing that live with no net or super slow net every 2 weeks for a few days !! If anyone has advice on how to make this retard stop doing what he's doing I would love your help !! Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give all the info so you guys can decide for yourself if he's doing this on purpose or is it just a coincidence.

Dont pay him money :p Dont pay lineman any money ever :p

Anyways what you should do is to complain to the PTCLCares guy at twitter and pay a visit to your local exchange, find some high ranking person there and tell him the whole story. Unless you are harsh with them in person, they wont pay any heed to you. Ignore that lineman who comes to your house and go directly to the exchange for complain. It might take more than one visit but if you are persistant and angry enough, they ll solve this issue for you. Well this is what I would do if it was me.

Well, if the exchange has configured your line for a 4Mbps profile, then yes you will get 4Mbps, but if you're configured for 16Mbps and you're only getting 4Mbps, then the line is at fault.
You see, if the line is damaged, the SNR will drop, attenuation will increase, when downstream SNR drops, your attainable rate and line profile will drop accordingly.

For example:
Downstream SNR is 35.0 dB (very good)
Attenuation is about 5.0 dB (also good)
Attainable rate is 24xxx kbps (max on ADSL2+ lines)
Downstream line rate is 16xxx kbps (16 Mbps line)

Your attainable rate is the highest you can get with your current line stats. Your downstream line rate is what you are currently getting.
Suppose your SNR drops to 8.0 dB and attenuation goes up to 20.0 dB, your attainable rate will drop to show accurate figures. Along with that, your downstream rate itself will also drop to the highest possible value with your current stats. Hope this is understandable.

You've spoilt him, don't give any lineman/technician/DSL guy any more money.

As FuriousNinja said, go to the exchange, and speak to someone in charge. Be a snitch, tell him who the lineman is and tell him to replace the entire wire from the cabinet/pole all the way to your house. Get a fresh one installed.

Workaround for Slow Speed

I may have a fix for your line problem if you don't use PTCL phone but if you do then I guess it wont work for you.
Basically I don't use my PTCL line for calls and only use it for internet so I have set up a "Resistor" in between the wires and it actually boosts up the SNR Margin to 16dB while without the "Resistor" the SNR Margin is around 9dB or 10dB. I have a 4mb connection and my attainable rate is almost 8mb.
I am not sure if it would work for everyone but it's worth a try if you don't use PTCL for calls.
Alert! We have very bad lines in here so that's why I had to do something to get full speed.

The resistor in the pic above is 220k and 2watts and it only reduces a tiny fraction of the voltage and that's why I can still use the phone for calls. Before this I was using 1k resistor with 1watt and it reduced the voltage to half and actually enhanced my line to 11mb and no disconnections ever. But your line should not be a noisy one or it wont work. If your line is clear but slow speed then it should work. Please don't mention this to Lineman or any PTCL guy because it is only a workaround and they don't support this, according to them it reduces the quality of the line but for me it actually enhanced it.

Can someone confirm if PTCL is throttling YouTube again ? Can't stream 720p on 4Mb. Line stats are good, getting consistent 450-470KBps on other downloads. Location is Rwp.

Haven't used YouTube at all today, but yesterday for me it was crap. Connection speed on YT showed 300 kbps and it could barely load a 360p video.
Also RWP. I hope it's not throttling again, that was so annoying.

Any one noticing v slow upload speeds on PTCL Charji ? download is fine but i can`t get an upload speed of even 1Mbps , it used to be 5-6 Mbps a week back !

i am getting 440ms on Singapore and 600ms on Europe since morning
Yep, high pings on asian servers where I normally get 130 i'm getting 300+. Download speed is also acting weird, plus frequent disconnects in overwatch and other mmorpg's. Did you get this resolved or no?

Anyone else having this issue? Line stat's have not degraded btw, SNR is still 30+ and attenuation is <5.

Just confirmed by using different PC's and a difference ethernet cable as well as on wifi. High latency and disconnects once i connect to games still exists. Ping drops to normal sometimes only to return back to 400+. What should be my course of action here?

Line parameters are still perfect while this issue persists:
