need help playing videos on 360

hi i need help. i transfered an avi video file on usb and connected it on the 360 and when i tried to play it says i nee some optional media update. problem is i cant go on xbox live can anyone give me a link to that update so i could download it to my pc then put it in the usb and update my 360 plz.

the only way to download optional media update is from xboxlive u cant download it from somewhere else.

I'm afraid bro but you can't download any off-line updates. The least you can do is convert your videos to wma and then watch on 360.

You can play a pirated game on a modded console online but you MIGHT eventually get banned. There is no definite pattern of banhammer. Its always a risk. Usually banhammer occurs around the launch of a high profile title. People usually play on LIVE for months but once a year, the banhammer DOES attack them. Some survive, others don't (in 2006-08) but none of consoles from 2009 survived (unless they never went online after the banhammer).

Its like the freaking Judgement Day for Pirated 360 Users.. MS Goes wild banning almost every single console they suspect is pirated lol.. Its doomsday..

The last two massive ban hammers struck when Halo 3's beta was released and when Modern Warfare 2 was released. Dunno if MS will strike so soon again now that Reach's beta is set to be released come May 3rd. But be on guard. I on the other hand am safe as safe can be. Unmodified console + original ODST game copy.

Lol nice.. Prevention is better than Cure.. (since there is no cure in this problem your dead in one shot lol).. Its either gonna be on Reach beta or when Reach goes live.. But this thing is certain for me.. Reach will bring the Ban Hammer with it..

old firmware maybe. Try using activation disc or update your firmware

With such little information we can only guess that you're running on an old firmware. Newer/recently released games work flawlessly on the LT firmware (which is the latest one right now). Upgrade your firmware to LT and i am sure your problem will be resolved.

What error do you get?

Or rather....Do you get a "Play DVD" text instead of "Play game" on your dashboard with these games that you're having a problem with?
