PakGamers Forum Update (Must Read)

Dear PGers,

At PakGamers we have always upheld a 'community first' attitude to our problem solving. We try our best to make decisions which are beneficial and fair to all of us, instead of an individual or group. This focus on community has urged me to take a pretty bold step, which will InshAllah change PG in a great way.

When we visit our PG Gaming zone hub, we see 7 different sections, namely General Gaming, PC, XBox, PS, Nintendo, Portables and Gaming conventions.
So right of the bat, I see two major problems here.

1) Division of community on basis of what platform they own/ platform they 'support' . This division, subliminally or consciously, promotes fanboyism, hostility and isolation; it doesn't promote unity among the community or healthy discussion. We have all read the 'some people visit this section only to diss on -enter platform name- games', ' Why are you even here', etc nonsense. Discussion, while maintaining mutual respect, has always been PakGamers trump card and it will continue to do so.

2)Creating unnecessary steps between visiting sub forums. I.e if someone wants to be actively involved in the whole gaming scene (i.e xbox, ps, nintendo, PC and portable) he has two options. Either he opens 6 different tabs and creates a clutter on his PC or takes steps which go like PG HUB > General Gaming> PG HUB>PC>PG HUB> Xbox .......so on. This creates unnecessary hurdles to overcome and it can be better optimized.

To solve this Team PG has decided to merge the general gaming discussion sections of General Gaming, PS, Nintendo, Xbox, PC together and have specific 'tiled' sections for specific hardware,software, tutorials, etc. So it should look something like :

Here you will have one gaming central section, where all news, reveals, rumors and updates of all games, irrespective of platform will be present. Everyone will have one place to gather and talk about games. The 'Tiled' specific PC, Xbox, PS and Portable sections will house everything other than gaming i.e Tutorials, hardware, etc.

In Gaming Central we will be implementing tags i.e similar to the ones you see in marketplace stating WTB/WTS/WTT, instead they will be saying PC or Xbox or PS or nintendo and you can decide to view whichever thread you want

Admins, Global mods and mods have given their input in this matter. As you might expect this proposal has been approved after alot of internal back-and-forth, discussions and brain storming (Yes, there was blood ). So Team PG decided that to make sure it is a smooth transition and to get feedback from you guys we will be doing this in stages. InF3rn0 has outlined these 4 phases as such:

- Phase 1: Merge/migrate discussion topics from PC & Nindendo sections into the new "Gaming Central" section.

- Phase 2: Merge/migrate discussion topics from Xbox & PS sections into the new "Gaming Central" section.

- Phase 3: Xbox360 RHG/Jtag and Xbox360 hardware/Software sub section will be merged with one single sub-section: Xbox Hardware & Software (can be seen in the preview I posted above).

- Phase 4: Integration Complete. Time Between the Phases: 3-4 days

Alot of optimization and polishing will take place in this period (for which I apologize in advance), but hopefully we will get a more active and interesting forum out of this change. We are willing to listening to all your relevant and logical feedback in this thread, and will open a 'Gaming Central : Bugs and Glitches ' thread in suggestions and feedback section. I know some of you will be thinking we are changing the 'PG style' that we have all become accustomed to, but like everything else, PG needs to evolve to grow.This structural change is a part of chain of changes that will expand PakGamers. And I am confident this direction will bear fruit in given time.

no offense or dis-respect to any team pg member, but this is the worst idea ever.
this will confuse all the users, fanboyism and other cons at one hand, but most of us know what we need now and where to look for it.
i guess many pc users dont even care about whats going on in the consoles sections cause one don't need to if they don't have one. same for vice versa.

PG is Awesome as is it, you can work on UI Improvements but please don't change the sections theory, its already very easy and complete.

i'd ask you guys to help out as much as you can. If you don't like something ... GO NUTS BRIEFLY, explaining the situation "HOW" you'd like it. Don't just look at the picture, and become afraid of the change. There is more to it than what meets the eye.

1)Thanks for the feedback, but I really hope that you see how you have just highlighted the problem yourself. It is not about you caring about console or not, its about isolation from other users. This attitude that PC/console guys dont need to interact or know about console/Pc game is what I was talking about in the above post. Maybe some console user has some insight that you find interesting regarding a game you like, maybe visa versa.
I hope I was better in relaying my message to you.
