Some of the stuff is missing, but some is still there.

Animal AI, while not enhanced, is present. They hunt, they stay in groups, stay in harmony with other species, are scared of you or attack you etc.

I have seen large ships sending distress signals as other ships are attacking them etc, in a video. IT is something. :p
Haven't encountered something like this myself so far though.

Animal variety is fully present. Even my 7-8 hours of gameplay so far has shown me that. I have seen from small weirdos to large weirdos. Now just hoping to land on a planet with extremely large weirdos.

Day-Night cycle is present. Moons are static from what I could tell. Not sure about the planets moving relative to each other and other movements.
It felt weird when i landed down from the space station, with the other planet in my horizen.
Turned day to night and flew back up, The planet which was behind my current one could still be seen in the horizen. XD while the space station was right on the opposite direction of the planet.

Weird stuff.
This game is going deep despite its issues though.

So far i'm interested in seeing a crashed freighter on a planet.

Here's an archived page of all the missing features that some guy collected. He kept updating the list as stuff was found. He has since deleted his account, don't know the reason but I'm pretty sure he got a lot of flak for daring to catalogue all the features that were promised but never implemented.

But remember guys, all the hype is the consumer's fault. Hello Games is totally faultless, they in no way contributed to people getting overhyped.

Edit: Holy shit, actually reading through the thread some of the shit these guys were saying was hilarious.

Hahahahaha. Like what? They were gonna simulate particles refracting light depending on their wavelength? What type of god game were they thinking of making? lmfao
Huh. Guess I'll stick with Elite Dangerous until this game gets sorted out with patches and whatnot.

Apparently it doesn't even have support for a HOTAS, fuck that.

Someone in his team forgot to show him this: Color Picker - ColorPicker.com

This collection is comedy gold, why didn't I follow this game before lol How could people take these guys seriously after these statements is beyond me.

"The physics of every other game—it’s faked,” the chief architect Sean Murray explained. “When you’re on a planet, you’re surrounded by a skybox—a cube that someone has painted stars or clouds onto. If there is a day to night cycle, it happens because they are slowly transitioning between a series of different boxes." "With us,” Murray continued, “when you're on a planet, you can see as far as the curvature of that planet. If you walked for years, you could walk all the way around it, arriving back exactly where you started. Our day to night cycle is happening because the planet is rotating on its axis as it spins around the sun. There is real physics to that. We have people that will fly down from a space station onto a planet and when they fly back up, the station isn't there anymore; the planet has rotated. People have filed that as a bug.”
“Because it’s a simulation,” Murray stated. “there’s so much you can do. You can break the speed of light—no problem. Speed is just a number. Gravity and its effects are just numbers. It’s our universe, so we get to be Gods in a sense.”
This a game made by stoners, for stoners.

That would be cool.

I'm waiting to go through a black hole. Must be an awesome experience.

This color picker website has clearly mastered wavelength manipulation at the sub-atomic level.

I remember falling off the No Man's Sky hype soon after they started talking about shit like this. It just sounded too fucking good to be real. Like some of the stuff they were talking about was like super high end stuff that I've never heard being implemented in games. Not even by the best of the best in the industry. And somehow these handful of nerds had cracked the god code of gaming and would literally create a digital galaxy.

"The physics of every other game—it’s faked,” the chief architect Sean Murray explained. “When you’re on a planet, you’re surrounded by a skybox—a cube that someone has painted stars or clouds onto. What are you talking about? This is the exact same shit you're doing. What a fucking cuñt. He's talking so much shit. I have no sympathy for this man. Get your shit kicked in, you psycho looking motherfucker.

“Because it’s a simulation,” Murray stated. “there’s so much you can do. You can break the speed of light—no problem. Speed is just a number. Gravity and its effects are just numbers. It’s our universe, so we get to be Gods in a sense.”
You know what's also just a number? 18,000,000,000,000,000,000.

This a game made by stoners, for stoners.
Oh yeah, definitely. I can totally see Sean and his team blazing up in their shitty studio talking about how they're going to literally make 18 quintillion unique planets instead of actually working on the game and fixing some basic stuff like having the height and weight statistics not be mixed up. Christ.

[h=2]No Man’s Sky’s first post-launch patch is now available[/h][h=3]The game should crash less often now[/h]

No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games released the game’s first post-launch patch today, addressing issues such as frame rate and stability.
The patch, which is now available on both PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, brings No Man’s Sky to version 1.04. Hello Games managing director Sean Murray hasn’t provided many details on the update yet; he said that full patch notes are on the way.

Murray did offer a few specifics. On PC, the patch adds support for additional hardware configurations, and improves the game’s frame rate on low-end computers. (It sounds like the PC update is a public release of what was previously the "Experimental" build of the game, which sought to address the problems that the PC version launched with.) On PS4, the patch makes No Man’s Sky more stable and does "lots more," said Murray.
Less than 1 percent of No Man’s Sky players have complained about technical problems, according to Murray, who added that Hello Games will fix approximately 70 percent of those issues this week. (It’s unclear if he is referring to today’s patch as the update that will do that, or a future patch.) Murray did note that because of how large the game’s player base is — Hello Games has not released sales figures — even 1 percent of that figure represents a lot of people.
Although we don’t have the full patch notes yet, Murray implied that the 1.04 update does not add new features to No Man’s Sky. Prior to the game’s debut, Murray said that base building and the ability to own freight ships would be the first two additions to the game.
"We're totally focused on customer support right now," said Murray. "Then we'll move onto improving and adding features to the game."

True. I noticed that too. But even if they did implemented it, it wouldn't really matter because the distance between each system is so large, no one will be able to make the journey on boost speeds.
That's true but I was expecting this to be somewhat comparable or better than another similar game Elite Dangerous. While it has huge plus of planetary landings compared to Elite, but the space faring side is laughable.
All of u guys who think no man's sky didn't deliver or feels cheap should at least give the demo of Elite Dangerous a try. The game is almost simulation of milky way with actual space physics in place. It's hard at first but grows on u real quick especially if ur a fan of interstellar fiction. Only big downside is that such huge game is possible on servers only therefore its online only.

I checked it out as Arko recommended it to me. Looks good, but since it is online only, I gotta have to buy it, which I will see about after finishing this.

You need a HOTAS to really enjoy Elite Dangerous. I didn't enjoy playing it on either M+K or the DS4 controller honestly.

That's not really true, I've played it with a Logitech pad for around 20+ hours. The controls are really intuitive.

The HOTAS is definitely the better experience it considerably buffed my bounty hunting since I was a lot more versatile and the immersion is great too.

Haven't gotten much time to play it lately.

Currently, I'm sitting with about 4.3 Million Units/Cash, just hoping to buy a ship worthy of that cash, and all I'm getting are sub 2 million deals everywhere. -_-

Well the controller has simply too few buttons to map different functions in a game like ED, and while I was able to navigate just fine on the keyboard, its the flying aspect that put me off the keyboard+mouse controls. Some games feel a whole lot different when you play them with the accessory they were designed for in the first place.

So I ended the game. And well, what a Abuses will lead to ban slap that ending was. It left such an unimaginable bad taste in my mouth.

Gonna review it later, but the gist of it for me is:

  • First couple of hours. Breathtaking. Awesome.
  • Next several hours leading to about 10-15 hours of gameplay were pretty fun with clear objectives for me.
  • After that, the presence of repetition starts becoming very strong and it goes like that till the end, and then pulls a Mario Bros on you.

I'd rather play Space-Engine instead

What a lame year this has truly been. One disappointment after another (both consoles & PC):fp2:

That would be unfair to games like Inside, Doom, Overwatch and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (and upcoming Dishonored 2), but yeah, overall I agree, this year pales in comparison to 2015.

Never had any hope from NMS, so can't say I'm disappointed by how it turned out.

if u were looking for a mature quality game that pushed the envelope for story telling and gameplay then do give quantum break a try. so far that game is the only worthy(and surprising) title of this year for me

other than that...yeah ur on point. so many potential hits were a miss. this game in particular was hyped to shit by the devs themselves. i say it deserves all the flak its getting!
