I play WoW on US and Euoro servers.
I play COD 4 with my friends in US
I play PS3 games on PSN

listing Broadband services in order of least problems to most and playability

Maxcom (VERY good support and immediate response)
LDN (slower response - good service)
Cybernet - DSL (Expensive!)
Worldcall - (some times too good sometimes slow)
PTCL/Gerrys ( VERY VERY good, only when they work!)

This is based on gaming experience of my own and several of my online gaming buddies who are located in different parts of Karachi

I am currently running on Max com and LDN at home and transworld at office.

I see PTCL there in the top 5

It is not good as PTCL or LDN when it comes to online gaming. It may be negligible in RTSs but makes a difference in FPS/3PSs

And maxcom is a tad more expensive than LDN and PTCL.

Then just get PTCL so that we can finally have our own nice MGO server

i tld u ptcl doesnt support pechs exchange!....btw i got my modem today frm ldn.....
n also maxcom price is same 1200 for 512...

Ahan.....new rates from 1st July. OK, then that makes Maxcom a good choice as well.
If LDN bothers me again, I have another ISP as an option besides PTCL ..... FINALLY

i am paying 1800 for 1mb to Maxcom right now. This is their price for a shared circuit. I ran hourly tests on thier service and i never went below 950k download. makes me think that they probably have more bandwidth than users or they are maintaining a very good user to bandwidth ratio.

Do note that i am connected through the worst PTCL exchange of Karachi. So other ppl in KHI will DEFINITELY have a better experience than mine.

I am located in DHA phase 6. Its supposed to be among the poshest areas of DHA karachi BUT PTCL's underground cable is faulty so the exchange is running on 20% capacity till the whole cable is replaced.

Additionally Maxcom informs me that the PTCl accessnetwork circuits seem to be overbooked as well so the DSLAM setup for this exchange is also choked and despite them feeding full dedicated capcity, end-user recieves lower %

okay so i just applied for a ldn 1mb connection, despite all the claims that it basically sucks. i have no idea why i did it! i love being a rebel i guess.

anyway, they told me i could disconnect anytime i wanted, just that they'll take away the modem, which they're giving me for free in the first place.

i tried the ptcl 1mb a couple of days ago. like wowjunkie said in his earlier posts, the connection is pretty good WHEN IT WORKS. then it just totally disconnects me form the network, and reconnects me a minute later. i was playing mgo and i did actually manage to host a game with some people from the states (who told me how sucky my server was..... i wonder why?) but honestly, it was about as good as my wateen wimax for the most part.

the way i see it i could try it for a month, during which i will also have the wimax, and if i don't like it i'll just give the modem back. now, i have to find out how to close my wateen account!
