I am thinking to take a connection of LinkDotNet 1Mbps (as I am downloading freak). So, query is, How good or bad is the service? and If someone has it please kindly upload any speed test, and also when I open www.dancom.net.pk it opens Link.Net website. WTF!???..

Any suggestion would be appreciated and No spam plz!!

The speed doesn't drop. No probs with downloading. But that latencies get really high, you can't play online games during peak hours. The customer service tells me they're working on it but I seriously doubt it.

don't trust on these speed tests.Yar get Ptcl because if you want to play online games then it will give you low pings rather than Link. Ptcl customer service is a BIT better than Link.One of my friend has Link and he is angry at their customer service.

Yes Atif is right. Get PTCL DSL connection so you can play games like COD4. I have 512k LinkdotNet connection and I get really high ping. A few days back Atif(PG) killed me multiple times with his sniper rifle while I can't even imagine using a sniper rifle at the latencies I get. I used to play COD4 at latencies from 200 to 300 but now they normally range from 350 to 500 . Customer service will always tell you that they are upgrading their system and you will get good speed when it's done (same reply for the past three months). I have nearly given up playing online with LinkdotNet .

Yes guys ATIF is right . its better for buying a ptcl connection . because they have to answer in every situation even if there was a problem. in DSL or the phone line both are comin from them LOL

am also at Linkdotnet...online play is not good..but it isn't bad either...just playable...as for down speed?..im pretty satisfied. The speed has never dropped even once below 50 Kb/s as im using 512 connection. As a matter of fact..it remains almost constant 53 Kb/s.

About PTCL's DCness, well I experimented using my LDN's modem with the PTCL connection at my workplace. The DCing stopped or at least it feels it has stopped! It now runs much much stable.

Am planning on switching back to PTCL from LDN. I'm a gamer, not a downloader.

Regarding Dancom. Yes, LDN acquired both Dancom and WOL.

Anyway, the connection I had at the time was with Multinet in Karachi, and wasn't good enough for most gaming servers. I was on a 512 connection and was getting a ping of around 200-300 on Euro servers, and 300-400+ on US servers.

So I decided to go for Link.net, which was a battle in itself. Took me 6 weeks to get my line unpatched etc etc.

Finally I got the installation a few days ago, and was really pleased with the 100kbs+ downloads. So, I tried playing online... and my ping is ACTUALLY WORSE than it was with my last connection.

So wtf is going on here? Any ideas? I called customer service and they gave me some b.s. response. My download speeds are great, so I don't understand this.

Check what pings you get around 7am or 8am. If they're good then you and I are the same and Link.NET sucks royally for online gamers.

Well latency and download speed aren't the same thing. If you have a certain minimum connection speed then only latency will matter for online play. And it seems from the posts here that LDN latency is higher than PTCL. My brother plays online on LDN and he doesn't have any complaints. I guess it depends on how demanding you are.

Well I had ordered PTCL 512k connection 3 weeks back, I go to their office every week, as usual they make lame excuses (something about exchange problems) which I never understood. So now I am thinking to cancel my application and apply for Linkdotnet.
As I need DSL for a couple of months, I need to know that do they give the free modem and also what is the duration of contract, as PTCl had a contract of 12months (or you had to return) ?

^^^ i would stick with the PTCL offer if i were you dude...it took LDN a month to install the net at my place...don't cancel ur application dude..PTCL is the best when it comes to online play!

I can't believe this. Six weeks of hell for nothing... I actually had to visit the LDN office on Chundigar road to get this installed, after visiting the Multinet and local LDN offices on multiple occasions.

So, yes, this sucks. I'd apply for the PTCL DSL, but I don't want to go through this crap again.

I guess I'll pester Link till they crack.

Also, I can't go and play TF2 on the Paki servers since those seem to host mostly stolen games, and TF2 doesn't seem to be popular amongst the pirates.

I guess I'll have to stick to the French servers that are pinging in at 180-220; barely acceptable and actually worse than Multinet 512K.

Uh! I was thinking that they would be quite fast. But ! Well I will wait now as i am getting a 361rs discount as of student package. Better than ldn. BUt how much will i have to wait? huh
