OK I have a problem, the headphones are wired and i have no clue how to connect a wired headset to my PS3. Can anyone tell me? I have a crappy old TV (Not HD or Flat Screen) and a FAT 80GB PS3, I have connected it to my PS3 with AV component wires (You know? the Red-White-Yellow Cables) So can anyone plz tell me how i can connect my Headset to a PS3 to hear all the background noise and online chat? Also, These headphones dont have a mic, i want a mic with the headphones
U wont be able to use ur mic unless the headphones connect via USB/bluetooth.

Also you wont be able to simultaneously use voice chat and hear game sound with regular headphones.

U need something like the turtle beach dpx21

The PS3 only transmits game sounds from HDMI/AV/OPTICAL and game chat via BLUETOOTH/USB.

Roccat Kave

Mate I have owned number of headphones over the years. I have used sennheiser to bose to skull candy but swear to sweet GOD I have never heard sound like roccat kave. They are sturdy like military tank & sound will just blow you away. You have to listen to them to believe me. They are my main headphones at the moment. But only one problem is they can only be used with PCs & laptops but sound it produces is just out of this world.

Hey guys, what are your thoughts on Sennheiser HD-650? I mostly listen to classic rock/ alt. rock so are these a good choice? And do they work well without headphone amps on a good quality sound card?

The 650 are an all round great headphone. The only reason I didn;t go for them was the price and also the fact that due to high impedance they require a good amp and soundcard.

Cool thread. Hmm no mention of Astros :(

After much thought over the course of a year I finally settled upon A40 Wireless System by Astro instead of buying a home theater system. I know, I know! simulated surround sound is no match to proper surround sound, but for the price range I was willing to spend in these are a better deal than some mediocre Sony HTIB.

Oh and why aren't you guys posting pictures of your own headsets? Stock images are nice, but real photos are better (even with horrible picture quality)

I listen to trance a lot. So deep good bass is something I'm looking for.

Isolation is not a major concern to me but can be a plus

It kinda sucks that u can't really tell how good the headphones are without actually listening to them! 

Well, if isolations not a major concern, take a look at the px 100-ii by sennheiser. They have a special iPhone model for it too.
For iems, check Klipsch S4 (has iPhone version), Meelec M11+ and Brainwavz M2. I'm not sure about their availability, but they're the best for this price range.

and please tell us that where to get these JVC headphones in Pakistan ?

I believe a guy here sells them. Check the marketplace. I cant recall his name.

Well, you can search the internet for that. I remember reading this somewhere on some forum. Or, if you can increase your budget by 100usds or so, you can get a mixamp which'll solve your problems. Expensive, yes, but it'll keep you satisfied for a long time. As for a mic, you'll need to buy that separately.

Turtle Beach isnt that good. Its infamous for its cheap build quality and average sound. I wouldnt recommend it.

They're very, very good. However, you'll need a decent amp and a sound card to benefit from them. Why don't you get one of the HD5xx and use the leftover money for an amp?

Haha, I mentioned the Astro mixamp before. :p
But yea, the A40 is very good for gaming. A bit expensive though.
And I guess no one mentioned the pictures. Oh, well, nows a good time to start then. :D

That may be your opinion, but we only have a couple of headsets that offer a voice chat + game sound solution on the PS3. So im afraid there is not much of a choice in this regard.

I suggested the turtle beach set because of the limitations of the PS3 with transmitting game sounds and voice chat and those offer a complete solution. And that too without needing an AVR, headphone AMP, or external peripherals.

The Audio Technica AD700 you recommended will not receive game voice chat.

Since truecoolguy needs voice chat + game sound,

o can anyone plz tell me how i can connect my Headset to a PS3 to hear all the background noise and online chat?
only a handful of headphones can do the job.

Turtle Beach dpx21
Tritton Ax720
Astro a40

These are the only headphones available that have the capibility AFAIK. There may be a few more.

Thanks for the reply guys. I have no idea about headphone amps (never owned one) so can you guys tell me how much does a good headphone amp cost and if they are easily available in Pakistan? And what would be the recommended sound card for HD-650? This would help in costing out the whole thing and if I should get less expensive headphones. Also how much of a difference will the headphone amps make in the overall experience?

I don't they're available here. Most people don't even know that headphone amps even exist. And these amps can be just as expensive as the headphones themselves. Decent amps for the 650 start at 200 usds or so. Why don't you get something mid-fi? The 650s are high end cans, just one model short of being flagship. They're gonna be very heavy on your wallet.

As fas as I know, only Astro has mixamps.

Actually a guy on PG was selling used HD-650 for 20ish something which is why I was considering this purchase. Anyways if they only give their true performance after connecting to amps it will be too expensive to justify this purchase. Which other headphones would you recommend in sub-20 range? And thanks for all the replies so far.. =)

He is selling for 24k which is a very reasonable price. I had to forgo them for the same reason as your self.

I am also looking for good headphones in the 20K range, so very interested in options..........

I use a pair of Skull Candy Buds on fire as my in-ear headphones, and a pair of Beats Pro HD as my over ear headphones. Both pretty good, but my friend has the Sennheiser HD (can't remember the number) headphones which just blow them away.

Okay. I'll need a few questions answered first. What artists do you mainly listen to? Do you want the headphones for home listening or do you want them to be portable? Do you want open back or close back? Do you prefer a bass heavy sound signature, more towards the bright side or a neutral one?
And no problem man. You're welcome. Always happy to help. :)

Just got a FiiO E5 headphone amp for 20$ from ebay for my Galaxy S2. Wow this thing has surely made a difference!
Which seller did you buy from and which shipping method? (How long did it take to arrive and any customs?)
