[h=1]Gotham Season 2 Stills: Bruce Wayne Messes With Magic[/h]

FOX’s Gotham enters its sophomore season with an impressive amount of audience goodwill for such a divisive premise: the early days of James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in a pre-Batman Gotham City. The show has already defied certain expectations as it introduces villains and plotlines into the Batman universe years before fans are used to seeing them, but bucking such expectations has proven interesting television.
Gotham‘s second season has been touted as the ‘Rise of the Villains,’ with a serialized story to play out over the course of the year. The season 2 episode ‘Knock Knock’ (read our review here) finds Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) and his gang of escaped Arkham inmates wreaking havoc on Gotham City. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Alfred (Sean Pertwee) enlisted the aid of Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) in unlocking the late Thomas Wayne’s secrets.

Now, a new batch of production stills from the next episode, titled ‘The Last Laugh’ has been released. While they don’t exactly shed any light on any of Gotham‘s ongoing mysteries, they do give us a glimpse of many of our principle characters in what appears to be an innocent magic show gone wrong.
Take a look at the images below via Spoiler TV (hat tip to CBM):

By the time this episode begins, Jim Gordon has convinced his erstwhile partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) to join him in tracking an enemy from their past, which brings them head to head with the maniacal Jerome. Meanwhile, the magic show at a gala for Gotham Children’s Hospital evidently takes a turn for the worst as a hostage situation breaks out. Bruce Wayne has clearly been enticed to grace the stage as part of the show, but what is Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) doing there? And how does Gordon factor in to the situation? We’ll have to wait to find out.
Whether or not new fan-favorite villain Jerome will be revealed as this version of Gotham City’s Joker remains to be seen, and fans are waiting to see how certain teased plot elements – like the Court of Owls – will fit into the ‘Rise of the Villains’ arc. Gotham has confounded expectations by ending its debut season on a strong note and retooling the Batman origin story, but time will tell just how long the show can keep this alternate origin going.
Gotham returns with “The Last Laugh” next Monday at 8pm on FOX.

I want Zatanna to be in Arrow season 4, she would make an good magician character, especially since s4 will be magic heavy.

Can't wait for the new episode tomorrow!

Once again another great episode. Gotham has step their game up this season....But ONE PROBLEM.

Spoiler: show
WHY THE FUCK THEY KILLED JEROME? :( He was fucking epic, and the actor was top notch, near the likes of Mark Hamil. I know he was not the Joker, but they should have killed him, when it was the last , and the very last season in the show. They could have done so much with Jerome...and in end we Jerome, and inspires other people to be the Joker. Does that mean we won't a Joker again in Gotham? And even if we do, he won't even close to Cameron Monaghan's Jerome. They better fucking bring back Jerome. In any possible way, heck even use the lazarus pits. He became my favorite character instantly, only to kill him off the next 2 episodes. :(

Gintoki i have a feeling this might just not be the last we see of jerome.. also the show was showing too much of jerome (not that it was bad but as theo said too much and would had been boring or something LOL ) and this would give it a rest for the time being as they focus on other villains....

manigamer I hope so! I really hope they bring back Jerome mid-season! While they build up other villains. He was the best thing of the show.

There is a very big storm coming to the Gotham writers after Jerome died. Everyone is pissed off and this gonna affect their ratings.

i dont think so, joker is the arch nemesis of Batman, Gotham is going to focus on James Gordon, it just wont be equal if Gordon has to face off with joker.
besides I think it was a unanimous decision to kill off jerome velaska, so that jared's wont be overshadowed :p

[h=1]Gotham: Pee Wee Herman Actor Cast as Penguin’s Dad; NYCC Sizzle Reel[/h]

[SPOILERS ahead – and above – for Gotham season 2, episode 3.]–
Three episodes into the second season of FOX’s Batman prequel series Gotham, the showrunners pulled an interesting bait-and-switch on fans – leaving the origins of the infamous Joker somewhere on the horizon. In all, Gotham has set the stage for a sophomore season full of surprises, as the “Rise of the Villains” storyline will introduce even more of the Dark Knight’s rogues’ gallery.
A sizzle reel which premiered at this year’s New York Comic-Con 2015 serves as a recap of the first three episodes of the season, highlighting Theo Galavan’s (James Frain) actions after he and his sister Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) – A.K.A. Tigress – form the deranged Maniax gang from a hand-picked selection of Arkham Asylum inmates – which included Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) ex-fiancee, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). Take a look at it above.

As the death of Not-Joker Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) presumably opens the door for a similar vein of theatrical psychopaths to run amok in Gotham City, the NYCC sizzle reel introduces Captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) to the GCPD. In one fell swoop, Barnes rids the department of several corrupt cops – something Gordon had been struggling to accomplish since arriving to the city.
Meanwhile, the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) remains the ‘King of Gotham,’ and soon fans will see a familiar face join the cast as Oswald Cobblepot’s progenitor. EW reports that Taylor himself announced during the show’s NYCC panel that Paul ‘Pee Wee Herman’ Reubens will be playing the Penguin’s father.
During the panel, Taylor said:
“So we’re all familiar with Oswald’s mother, the fabulous, fabulous Carol Kane. We don’t know a lot about his father… We just found out that I do have a father. And he will be showing up very soon, and he will be played by none other than Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee-wee Herman! He’s playing my dad! What! The! Hell!”

Fans of all things Batman will remember that Reubens played the role 23 years before, in Tim Burton’s 1992 Batman Returns. The film’s memorable opening sequence introduced the monstrous baby Oswald/Penguin (Danny DeVito). There is no information about when or how Reubens will show up, but with the storylines for season 2 evidently woven together, we might expect Penguin’s dad to play a larger role overall.
During the NYCC panel, much of the cast was joined by writer John Stephens, who spoke about the showrunners’ plan to move from the mob-themed crime drama feel of the first season and into the world of Gotham City’s burgeoning supervillains. Stephens also spoke about the inter-connected narrative of this season, saying: “We’ll be telling one long story over the 22 episodes, so you can’t miss one episode.”
With Barnes on the warpath, we’ll see how the emergence of the Penguin’s father affects his grip on the city as rival factions – like the teased Court of the Owls – begin to rise.

Watched the new episode, was good, but not epic like the previous last 2 episodes...because no jerome. :(
Anyway, Bruce has a new love interest, silver, im guessing we will see some jealousy from selina. Selina looked hot in this episode. I liked how alfred slapped her. Poor penguin....good to see he had morals and he was forced to do this. I'd like to see how he gets revenge on theo. In the preview of next ep, we see theo talking to someone under the hood....maybe Ra's? Or someone from court of owls.

[h=1]Gotham Writer Teases the Future of the Joker[/h]

[SPOILERS for those not caught up on Gotham season 2 ahead.]–
The Batman prequel series Gotham has taken its share of liberties with the accepted mythology of the Dark Knight and his world. One major point of interest with fans is how the series is going to handle the ascension and evolution of the most popular and anticipated of Batman villains, The Joker.
The recent and sudden demise of the heir apparent to the mantle of the Clown Prince of Crime – during the episode “The Last Laugh” – caught a lot of fans off guard and was certainly a source for confusion. Now, hints that come out of the New York Comic Con 2015 seem to indicate that perhaps we haven’t seen the last of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan).

During the Gotham NYCC 2015 panel, writer and executive producer John Stephens had the following to say on the topic of the Joker and his legacy:
“If you watch the episodes closely, as they go forward this year you’ll start seeing the seeds of the way that story will continue to develop. And we probably have not seen the last of that fellow.”
The death of Jerome Valeska came as a huge shock to fans of Gotham. The impression was given that the second season would provide further evolution of the Joker character through Jerome, but instead the moment of his death was used to elevate the big baddie for the season, Theo Galavan (James Frain) to a whole other level. Jerome’s murderous antics had begun to inspire copycat killers by the end of “The Last Laugh”, but have we seen the last of Jerome altogether?

Fans of the comic books know that the Joker has been thought certainly dead countless times, only to come back bigger and badder than before. The question does remain, how could Gotham pull off this return? A few possibilities immediately come to mind, the first being that Jerome and Galavan secretly planned the entire scene on purpose, so that Theo can enact his secret plans. (Theo is a baddie who would know exactly where and how hard to stab you to make it look good, but not be fatal.) If the stabbing was fatal, there is always the possibility of the emergence of a Lazarus Pit and Ra’s Al Ghul (who’s been speculated to appear on Gotham season 2).
The audience may be anxious to see the boy who will become Joker grow towards his eventual place in Gotham‘s lore, but the show-runners are clearly going to keep that at a more gradual pace, in line with the spirit of the series. The idea that the Joker will become a symbol and more than just one man is an interesting flip on the Batman’s own concept. It may be worth noting that the surname Gotham chose to give its potential Joker is Valeska, which is slavic for “Glorious Ruler”. In order to ascend to the mantle of the Clown Prince of Crime the Joker in Gotham will clearly need to earn his chops and pay his dues.

[h=1]Gotham Season 2 Will Introduce Azrael[/h]

[This article discusses plot points from Gotham season 2, episode 5 that may be considered SPOILERS.]
Despite being advertised as a prequel and precursor to Batman, Gotham has taken its fair share of artistic license over the first two seasons. Of course, as with any series, sometimes the changes might make sense to make the show feel more grounded or even fit better within its established universe, but a number of the alterations made on Gotham have felt like retrogression when compared to the source material.
While Gotham has improved in its second season, one thing remains certain — it is still not a Batman show, nor should it be. But at points it doesn’t even seem like James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is the focus either. Instead, producer Bruno Heller and the rest of the crew behind Gotham seem to be treating the city of Gotham and its criminal activity as the main character, centering in on the underground crime world and the origins of several future members of Batman’s rogues gallery.

Season 2 has been appropriately subtitled Rise of the Villains to coincide with the emergence of even more villainous characters than in Season 1, and later in the season will be no different it seems. As revealed by tonight’s episode of Gotham, the Galavans are descendants of the Dumas line, which means that the Order of St. Dumas could become part of the plot to take down Gotham and the Wayne family. Hence, we may be seeing the assassins of that order emerge before the season is through.
As Gotham EP John Stevens told ComicBook.com, the Order of St. Dumas storyline will continue developing as the season goes on, hinting that Azrael will be showing up as well.
“We will be going deeper into the Order of St. Dumas over the next run of episodes, and it will continue to play an evolving role for the rest of the season. And yes, we wouldn’t be telling an Order of St. Dumas story without also intending to tell an Azrael story. Just keep watching.

For those familiar with the history of Azrael in the comics, the first character that comes to mind is usually Jean-Paul Valley — who briefly assumed duties as Batman while Bruce Wayne was recovering from his back-breaking battle with Bane. However, it seems the version of the character we will see on Gotham will be more akin to a general warrior class of the Order of St. Dumas, than the more recent iterations, in that it will be a larger group rather than one singular character.
That angle for the character is largely hinted by what the Order priest tells Theo Galavan in the latest episode, saying, “The day of redemption is at hand. Our brothers are crossing the ocean now, warriors unlike this city has ever known.” Judging off that alone, it seems the Order of St. Dumas will likely be a collective rather than an individual.
That being said, don’t completely rule out an appearance of a singular Azrael character down the line in Gotham, but don’t bet on it being much like the Jean-Paul Valley version of him. Even then, nothing is off the table; and so far, the creative minds behind the show have shown no hesitancy to altering the mythology of Batman.
Gotham returns with ‘By Fire’ next Monday at 8pm on FOX.

Watched the new episode, It was okay...firefly was cool, and we finally have insight what the galavans want. Doesn't look like its court of owls related, and it's some old family feud. The jerome episodes were awesome, and epic. I hope Gotham doesn't lose it's footing. I'm interested to see how penguin vs the galavans feud will turn out, and i hope he gets revenge. :p

Next episode looks interesting, judging by the preview.

This episode was better than the last one. Didn't really like the last one. Thankfully the Firefly story is over with, as i found it boring, though it was good to see Selina to think bridget as a friend, and strong acting by selina's actress. Poor butch, his hand turned into a mullet, and gets treated like shit. Since he got brainwashed, I guess something happened to him again. In the end, we saw some villains in the indian hill. I guess one of them was mister freeze.

Next episode looks exciting, and intense, judging by the preview. This is gonna be good. Let's see what decision Jim makes.
