I am thinking of getting PTCL 512K student package, but i have a few questions:

1. PTCL says that the charge would be 839, but would there be any extra charges like taxes of some sort applied in the bill?
2. If i want to cancel my subscription after about 7-8 months would they fine me?

Well i have not recieved my first bill as yet, but i think that the tax which is applied on the bill will cover it

so , 839 is all they would charge apart from the sales tax in the line and the line rent.

Ok, just for a note, my maxcom 512K service became active yesterday. Am getting 58Kbytes/sec and 200kbits/ps upload.
I used PTCL from June07 to November07 and LDN/WOL from Dec07 last week and since yesterday I started off with maxcom. So far it seems very stable but what impressed me most was their technical side. They've got good people over there. Prompt service, the guys knew what they were talking about and all that. I liked it. Both PTCL and LDN have dumbass n00bs at their tech support.

I'll update with further info and experience and comparison of maxcom with other ISPs in the days to come.

Most of my friends says that PTCL SuckZ . So finally what should I buy cauze I m not in the mood of changing the service again and again . My current cable suckz so I wanna switch fast . Just sumarize your result and plZz tell me the best one . Means best at online gaming and downloading speed .

I used maxcom for 8 months then i saw ptcl offering 512kbps for the same rate i switched to ptcl later on maxcom upgraded their services which was too late i was stuck in an ordeal where i was questioning God about what century am i living in? for 1200rs ptcl offered 512kbps where as i got somewhere around 20 kbs for a second ( that was the first week of installation) now everythings fine but ptcl has made a not so good impression.
I'd strongly recommend all of you gamers downloaders whatever to go for maxcom
The good thing about ptcl they give student packages you can get 512 for 839 and 1mbps for 1400 ( which im thinking about getting,if ptcl works fine like its working right now..Yeah its working fine ,these days im getting 58 kb/s which is perfectly fine for a 512 connection)
Ptcl people are starting a new service which works through their dsl which is *Smart Tv* i guess, watch movies shows and if you miss them you can always roll back and watch a show you missed

If you want a balance of all this, get Maxcom.
Perhaps I'm the only user who has used/using DSL from all these 4 ISPs.

PTCL aren't increasing their rates, please dont misinform people. I'm all for making people aware of what you feel are the pros and cons of whatever service, but false information like that will only hurt their decision making process.

I've personally used PTCL since they first launched their service, never had a problem. If you do have a problem, make sure your wiring is done well. A good way to check for this is to see what your values for "attenuation" and "SNR" are. If you're confused, post those values here, I'll be able to help you. My own wiring was faulty initially, I did some research and had it redone the right way, which has resulted in very good line values.

The ping with PTCL is excellent. I've played on GGL with people from europe and the USA, and never suffered from lag or whatever.
