Hello,

I am looking for an xbox 360 controller that I can connect to pc and play games through it. I am a little confused whether there is any special controller that is made for pc or would any xbox 360 controller work fine with pc games?
Please enlighten me with any other guidance you feel is necessary here (price e.t.c.)

many thanks...

saadi939: There is only one xbox 360 controller and there is no such thing as "made specially for PC". You can get an xbox 360 controller with the usb "play n charge cable" and download the drivers for it to work on PC. There is also a tutorial in the xbox 360 section.

Here's the link: http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=217842

People charge highly just by writing on the box of the controller that it is made for PC and provide a CD which has the required drivers but you can download them yourself for free. BTW the link of the WTS thread is of a good one and that guy is selling it pretty cheap.

well you can get xbox 360 Wireless controller for PC as well but for that you need receiver so reciever + controller = 5500/rs and yes you have to buy charger separately but its for life time as XBX360 guyz need to buy new equipment when they switch to xbox 720 (when it released) so best of luck .

I'd much prefer the PS3 controller over Xbox. I bought the Xbox controller twice, and both died within a month's span. Cheap knockoffs are what's available in the market. I wouldn't waste my time with them if I were you. And don't even think about wireless controller. Not only do you need a receiver, but also rechargeable batteries as well. Which will cost you in excess of 7k+, not worth it at all, especially with this load shedding, you won't have much time to charge the batteries anyways.

Just get an Xbox360 wired controller and plug it in.
You don't need to install any drivers for it to work, not at least in windows 7 don't know about older OS.

yar there isn't much load shedding in karachi hardly 2 hours in a day .

well on topic if OP want to go for wired controller then yes ps3 controler is more reliable than xbox but there ps3 controler is not PC supported as xbox is plug and play .

yup exactly. You will need specialized software and drivers and crap for PS3 controller but nothing for xbox 360 controller. Just get an original wired controller and it will last you a life time. Plus there is a small MS software for better compatibility on PC,its just a few MB's in size.

Well till now I have been using my ps3's controller for pc through motionjoy, but now as I have sold my ps3, I am looking to buy a new controller for pc gaming.
I thought of ps3 controller, but I think its more expensive. And even through motionjoy, all the buttons are mapped as xbox360's controlller's buttons so theres a lot of confusion there too. So thats why I was looking for an Xbox' one rather than ps3's.

Would there be any issues like 2nd copy controllers or something like that, how to see if a controller is original and is in fine quality? Would price has to do something with it? How much does and original controller costs? new as well as used?

P.S I am also supposing that Xbox controller comes with a usb cable as a source to connect with a pc, and nothing extra like any converter or something would e needed..... right??

xbox 360 controllers copys dont last very long and i suggest you go for original one.
Original's have a small safety wire at the end which comes off if you pull it,like so

with the wire it will look like this:

Now this is a chinese copy:

this is the only difference you can tell without opening the controller. Its very simple,if it doesnt have the small wire at the end, then its fake :) And yea its USB.
Copy's cost anywhere from 1.5K to 2K brand new whereas original ones will be in this range USED.New cost around 3-3.5K. But dont worry,if the original controller isnt damaged and in good working condition then it wont malfunction.

So its like a cable that comes off with a ps3 controller? If it doesnt come off, its a 2nd copy. right?
Dont know whats with the PS3 controller but yea,irs a small wire from the USB end as seen in the pic and it can be disconnected whenever u want.

@shinigami8671 need some help again...
the rubber pads of the controllers, are they actually replaceable?
I was looking at this person's thread (link below) and wandered if these controllers could be repaired cheaply and effectively? any idea?

if im not mistaken these are wireless controller, what will you do with them? If you intent to use them on PC then you will need a receiver, rechargeable cells etc which will cost you extra 2K.
