Sir sorry to drag out this old post but just covering the whole thread."Retail version activation is not possible"
It's possible. I don't know from where you guys get such information. I activated my retail copy of Office Pro Plus 2013 using phone activation method more than a month ago and it's still going well. Same goes for Windows 8.1 Pro, I'm still trying to figure out why some of the members even bother with AutoKMS methods when there's a permanent activation solution available since a while now.
Anyway, if you use M$ account with your Windows (legit), it's advised that you disable login for illegal copy of M$ Office: Office 2013 "Sign in" and Cloud Capabilities - Turn On or Off - Windows 7 Help Forums
I take it that these are completely unmodified and latest ISOs? Simply create bootable USB and fresh install?@The Avenger; and any other looking for a latest Windows 8.1 Professional VL (Volume License) with Update 1 ISO ...

Could you PM me a link to 8.1 update 1 x64 pro version. the options on MDL forums are too many and the link you shared seems to be something different (9+ GB on size)@champion7891
1. "KMS" part is the same. Toolkit however "extends" the functions providing some extra features including"modifying installers of Retail ISOs to convert them to a Volume License". Toolkit also works on Win7 based PCs and older Office versions. KMSPico is plain & simple "Click & Activate" feature for both Windows 8 & Office 2013.
2. KMS is the official activation servers from Microsoft. So KMS Activators will inject a simple "Scheduler" (to schedule X program at Y time --- NOT a spyware or standalone program or any such thing). It'll run "KMS Server" on every windows startup, to check whether or not windows needs activation, and it'll activate automatically. You can choose to delete/uninstall it and manually activate your OS later, because with a one time use of KMSPico/MSToolkit and your OS+Office will be activated for 6 months anyway. However, i'll suggest not to touch it because it means no harm to your PC, so you shouldn't worry about it.
3. The "KMS" part is the one you should be concerned about. Yes it'll only activate for 6 months. You can either choose to "manually" activate your OS or let the "AutoKMS" (that scheduled program i mentioned in No.2 above) do its job.
4. Well i don't know what you mean exactly by "Safest". As mentioned before, both Toolkit and KMSPico activate your OS/Office against a "Fake KMS" server, so they are safe to use. I'd prefer you choose KMSPico (get it from MDL Forums) because its a simple "click & activate" software. Ofcourse, you'll have to INSTALL that utility first, but thats just like 'extracting' the software components in your PC. You can also search for a "Portable" version (I am not sure if it exists anymore).
5. Yes the ISOs you get from MSDN are Unmodified. MSDN is "Microsoft Developers Network". To be able to download from there directly, you'd need a paid subscription.
If you EVER need an untouched/unmodified MSDN ISO just go to their website (link), navigate and select what you want (Visual Studio, MSSQL Server, Office etc) copy the name of the ISO given there and Google it.Could you PM me a link to 8.1 update 1 x64 pro version. the options on MDL forums are too many and the link you shared seems to be something different (9+ GB on size)
Download the file from any source, it doesn't matter as long as it matches below hashes:en_windows_8.1_professional_vl_with_update_x64_dvd_4065194.iso
Download the Volume License (VL) version because it's much easier to activate, retail keys are being blocked lately.SHA-1: E50A6F0F08E933F25A71FBC843827FE752ED0365
Thanks...much appreciatedIf you EVER need an untouched/unmodified MSDN ISO just go to their website (link), navigate and select what you want (Visual Studio, MSSQL Server, Office etc) copy the name of the ISO given there and Google it.
For example you want the latest ISO of Windows 8.1 Pro with Update (64-bit), go here, scroll down to Windows 8.1 Professional VL with Update (x64) - DVD (English), click the details button and copy the following name:

Also, the difference between KMSPico and M$ Toolkit is the later doesn't activate "Retail" copies last I checked but the former does. I don't recommend the phone method anymore though.
Microsoft plans to revive the Start menu in a future version of Windows, most likely Windows 9, aka Threshold. With the Start screen taking over as the landing page and launch pad in Windows 8, does the Start menu still serve a purpose? Yes, it does, at least in my humble opinion. I still find the Start menu more useful than the Start screen -- especially on a traditional PC -- and I welcome its return. Initially, every application you installed in Windows 8 set up its own tile or tiles in the Start screen. The more programs you installed, the bigger your Start screen would grow. That could quickly lead to a Start screen cluttered with so many tiles that you'd have a hard time finding a particular program. Microsoft then changed the behavior in Windows so that every application you installed set up a tile in the Apps screen, but not in the Start screen. This requires you to hunt through your Apps screen to determine which programs you want to send to the Start screen.
Thanks again. I can't replicate that issue now since windows is activated with MTK. I didn't run KMSPico in admin mode though. My question though was is it likely to be a problem trying KMSPico and then applying MTK over it?@champion7891! Show us a picture or something about the problem you are facing. But first, you'll have to run your KMSPico "as Administrator". Also, don't forget that it needs a working Internet Connection to active your windows. Once you have pressed that big red button on KMSPico, don't forget to restart your PC.
About the Office, check its "Details" and see the list of Subscribers its available for. On the list here: MSDN Subscriber Downloads ... I found that the first two (x86 & x64 respectively) are for both VL & Retail subscribers. So i am pretty sure they'll work.
However, i have the "MLF" ISO files (whatever that means). You can check this thread at MDLForums and download the ProPlus (Professional Plus). Ignore the SVF Patches and just download the .ISO file which is 850+MB for x64: Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus & Standard 2013 with SP1 (All languages) [SVF Patches]
