Guys win8.1 activator out yet....? if its out then, does it activate windows permanently or is it just activate for 6 month?

Which OS will be better for gaming between Win 7 64 vs Win 8.1 64?

masum! Look for KMSPico at MDL Forums. It'll activate for 6 months but will automatically re-activate whenever an activation request is sent by windows. So basically you don't have to worry about anything.

And definitely choose Win8.1. One or two games (State of Decay, CoD:Ghosts) were having mouse lag problems in 8.1, but even those games are working just fine for some people.

Other than that, very games might require a working Win8 crack, like Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, or The Amazing Spiderman. Other than that, each and ever game is working absolutely fine.

I'm not asking if windows 8.1 is better than windows 7,ofcourse it has to be,that's how most software/OS work (except vista >__> ) .I just wanted to know if it is WORTH it for me to upgrade it .I don't play games on my computer. My dad uses it for word-processing documents.IMs ,socialising ,browsing,e-mail .I use it for watching movies and doing my practicals e.g using all the software available in Microsoft Office .That's about it .I have to install a new windows but IDK whether I shud go for windows 7 or windows 8.1 .

shahzadfootball! The obvious answer is Windows 8.1. The transition might prove to be a little uncomfortable for your father considering his usage, but show him the "new things" (just the start screen basically, and how it operates) thats all. Won't be much difficult because there aren't many "techy or difficult" changes which an average user can't understand.

Not only will it perform better (because its more optimized and slightly less intensive on RAM) but will also make some things easier (Win+S combination for example).

Your father might also love some of the things now integrated in Windows 8, like the Mail App, where you can add multiple IDs and enjoy a simple yet functional UI for browsing and sending emails. Or the People app, which will accumulate all your contacts in ONE app, where you will also be able to browse Facebook or Twitter without any extra app or web browser.

Just make sure to download Win8 or 8.1 certified drivers (or let Windows Update do the job) before starting the install. If you need any help in this regard, let me know.

So a guy installed windows 8 yesterday on my laptop for the first time. It was all activated and working ok.
It took me the whole day to install about 1.3 Gb of all the windows updates that the windows detected. All them installed successfully. Until the very last two leftover updates.
I selected those two and windows installed them successfully. After the laptop restarted, a watermark appeared on the bottom right corner of my desktop screen which says 'Windows 8 Pro Build 9200'. Along with that the status of my windows has changed to 'Windows is not activated' :(
(although when i click on the view details option in front of the 'Windows is not activated' message, another window opens that says your Product is activated)

Help? anyone??

Screens attached

Xzan23! I am pretty sure that guy installed a Pre-Activated version, which i have been advising against since day one. Anyway, i'd recommend installing a clean copy (without any sort of hacktivation or pre-activated copy) again, and activating it via KMSPico (use google or MyDigitalLife forums)

You could use KMSPico on your current windows to activate it but i recommend against it. Don't ask Why because i have my own theory attached to it which i can't mention every time :)

________

That said, if you are installing it on a laptop then you have a good opportunity to go for UEFI. But for that, you'll have to convert your existing hard disk to GPT Partition Table, which is a huge inconvenience if you have data on your HDD. (There are software which can do it without any data loss but i haven't tried any so i am not sure).

I have no idea if it was pre activated or activated through some software after installation (but seems like you are right). Yes its a laptop but that HDD issue will def. be an inconvenience.
Khair, ill do what you said then. Ill do a fresh install and activate it via KMS Pico. But do you recommend recommend installing windows updates ever after that?
I really wouldn't want to go through all this again

Xzan23! Consider KMS Activation a trial extender. It'll activate your OS for just 6 months, but it'll auto re-activate whenever windows ask for activation. So yes you can use Windows Updates just fine.

Just make sure NOT to check the "Install Updates Automatically". Choose "Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download or install them". And always install updates after going through each and everyone of them.

abobobilly ... Yes ive already checked that option in the windows update settings.

BTW i just installed KMSpico on my current windows, and its all back to normal. The watermark disappeared and the windows is activated again. THANK YOU so much man. i had been fussing over this issue since morning.

Now i really hope that your 'Theory' of not recommending to install KMSpico on the already installed windows doesn't take affect in my windows in the foreseeable future.

Thanks again bro.

You said here: http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f68/windows-9-release-april-2015-a-189498/index2.html ...

Ask those who have actually used both the operating systems. If I put this in this way, win8.1 is what win8 would have been from the start. It's a much better OS AFTER 8.1 update. The reason why MS calls it 8.1 is because it's more than just a service pack and a lot less than a completely new operating system. With win8.1 you get superior multi monitor support, efficient memory utilization, fast boot times and other minor tweaks. The only thing you'll hate is the search function (or the way it works).

What exactly do you hate about the new search function? If the reason is that "it searches everywhere" even where it shouldn't ... then you can easily tweak that via Indexing Option. Incase you don't know, Search has always relied on Indexing (or "faster" search for that matter) ... but in 8.1, its has been integrated better).

Can't say this new search function is bad because even now the searches are lightening fast. And i do mean lightening fast. The only thing which bogs it down, is the use of "Bing Search" ... which fortunately, can easily be turned off (from Metro UI Settings) :)

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
