you are welcome.
actually water purification involves a lengthy cleaning, multiple filtration and mineral addition process which can not be replaced by an home based filter.
more over the local water supply that we get in our home is not clean at all, there are many places where the water is contaminated by line breakage that causes polluted water to mix up with the supply making it unfit for drinking or consuming, at many places i have heard sewage lines getting mixed up with normal supply because of maintenance activity or other activities that causes the lines to break and mix, what's more shocking is that most of the people still use that water and they are not aware of such a disaster.

i don't know about other plants but in our plant we have water supply from customized boring to ensure that the water is clean even before the filtration process begins,
if u have boring in your home and the water from it is normal rather than salty then u can consider buying a filter but a good one is must to attain filtered water that is drinkable but it is going to be expensive.

Unilever Pakistan has just introduced their new water purifier in Pakistani market. It runs without electricity or gas. I saw its advertisement on TV. To check latest prices and different varities I suggest you to go golimar sanitary market and check shop called Mohammadi Sanitary, they have good variety of water filters and related kits and accessories etc.....

What about those filters which first pass through sand bed, then through carbon filter, and finally through intense UV Light?

I believe that such purifiers will need yearly change of sand and carbon filters, as well as the UV lamp. We are using such a filter system and IMO it has been good thus far (3-4 months).

Boiling water does not remove fluoride from water , while fluoride is much higher in upper areas like Punjab etc . Still boiling water is far better than many purifiers
