The Transworld customer respondent dropped by my house and collected his payment. I must say the initial investment is extremely steep (22,000 pkr). I expect the internet to be installed by the end of this week.

I've been wanting to shift from PTCL for a few months, and the good impressions from @mafiadog in this thread, and the suggestions by @frazgta compelled me to finally make the jump.

Ab agar service achi nahi huwi tu aap dono ko bohot sari Abuses will lead to bani Abuses will lead to bani batain bolon ga me.

waise, so far, in Pakistan, steep price usually is for god service, see zong 4g's packages and wateen 4mbps service.
I'm banking on that.

Can't wait to have it installed and see how much of a difference I get on the pings versus PTCL.

Please do post some pings and a real speedtest. Would love to know how good it actually is.
Believe me, all FTTH operators in PK are worth it.... except PTCL. PTCL is NEVER worth paying for.

I will remember to post in this thread with a couple of speedtests for everyone. If you'd like me to test on certain international cities, list away.

Posting the PTCL tests now before I cut off the service.

4Mb connection.
Ideal SNR margins.

Tests conducted roughly 8:30 PM. I'm assuming this is peak time.

Surprised by the Dubai result. Just a couple of days ago I did a test on Dubai and got 149 ms on it.

Your ping to Quebec and Dubai is quite good tbh. I get 250+ on Dubai and 350+ on any Canadian / US server.

Expect even lower pings with TW.

Thanks for the screenshots btw.

I suppose being physically close to the submarine cable has its benefits. I've had such decent pings with Dubai even as far back as 2008 when I first took up PTCL's 1MB connection.

Internet only:

- 10,000 for the device
- 3,000 for first month service + taxes
- A variable amount for cable installation (In my case it was 6,300)
Thank you.. And can you tell me khow many days they take to complete the setup..

They came by to collect the payment yesterday. I expect their installation team to visit tomorrow or day after. May be even today.

All in all, from your first call to setup completion, you can expect 7 - 10 days for the whole thing.

Well that went less than smoothly as I would have liked.

They came to install the internet and TV connection today and right out of the gate the lead guy informed me that they're using World Call's cable. Awkward silence ensued as I told him that I'm already using World Call and why the hell didn't anyone tell me this before when I mentioned it several times during the payment exchange process?

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to shift to Transworld was because their analog channel list online showed Discovery and Natgeo. Apparently that's false advertising since World Call doesn't give you these channels on Analog.

A lot of phone calls and disheartened family members later, we decided to drop the TV installation and go for the Internet alone. I must say I'm still depressed about the whole situation. They outright lied, and in other cases, kept information from me about their TV service.

The internet itself is installed and working. I did speed tests on the countries murtaza12 requested and their pings are almost exactly the same as my PTCL connection. The gains are marginal and nothing to write home about. Though Im happy to report that the speed is sticking close to 20Mb so there's that.

Really in a 'mehh' mood right now because my father won't get Discovery and Natgeo after all this shit anyway.

That sucks.
The pings being the same as PTCL is surprising though. Did you have PTCL GPON or DSL?

Also, didn't it say Digital TV? Why are they using analog?
I was excepting them to have a Nayatel like setup where the STB is connected to the ONT through ethernet.

This all seems really odd.

I had PTCL DSL. I firmly believe that me being close to the submarine cable has a lot to do with the pings being roughly the same on both services.

Also they offer digital and analog TV services. I opted for the analog service since it had the 2 channels I wanted for my father. Turns out that was a white lie.

I still have to do some port forwarding to get an open NAT on my Xbox One. The download speed so far is excellent.

What is the average download speed you're getting and is it consistent or is it drop on some hours?

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
