This season has such terrible pacing. It would make no difference if you skipped every episode between the season premiere and the mid season finale. It had the potential to be one of TWD's best season, 'cause Negan, but nope.. they had to give us a whole freaking episode focusing on motha f*cking Carol. And just when I thought I had gotten it out of the way, they give us a motha f*cking Tara centric episode.

Even when the show comes back in Feb, I bet my ass they're gonna spend 7 out of 8 episode gathering supplies and doing stupid shit. Only the finale is going to be worth it.

I am pretty sure next half will be same as the first half of this season. I mean what else there is left to show besides Negan's cruelty. They will show the deeds and the tortures of Negan for next 7 episodes and then in Finale one giant battle I am guessing. (sm1)

Great episode. RICK is back baby. Things are progressing a bit more quickly, finally. Hopefully the second half won't have THIS much pacing issues like the first half.

Also, I REALLY HATE this mid-season bullshit.

Yep. I wonder who he is. Man, I just want Rick to meet King Ezekiel. The conversation would be awesome I bet. And it is so annoying that Carol and Morgan still don't know what happened to their group regarding Negan etc. :p

The Walking Dead Creator Says Series Will Adapt Issue 200 by Season 12

The Walking Dead recently reached the halfway point of its seventh season and the mid-season finale, ‘Hearts Still Beating’, concluded with Rick and co. deciding they’d had just about enough of Negan’s tyranny and that a rebellion was in order, thus setting up the ‘All Out War’ arc of the comic series. Although the season premiere achieved record ratings for the AMC network, viewing figures quickly dropped off as some fans struggled to maintain interest in Kirkman’s zombie apocalypse drama.
Despite this, both the television adaptation and the original comic series of The Walking Dead are experiencing massive levels of success, all things considered, and there’s no sign of either ending any time soon. Some fans, however, have shown concern that the TV series may soon catch up to the source material in terms of narrative timeline. This recently occurred with another mega-popular television property, Game of Thrones, which overtook George R. R. Martin’s source novels, forcing producers to develop entirely original plot lines – albeit with the aid of Martin himself.
With this in mind, a fan of The Walking Dead recently contacted Robert Kirkman asking whether there was a risk of the show catching up to the comics and the zombie mastermind duly replied in the comics’ Letter Hacks section, stating:

“It took us 6 seasons to get to [issue] 100, it won’t take us 6 years to get to 200 and that will take us to season … TWELVE. And we’ll still be ahead of the show at that point.”

Negan kills Spencer in Issue 111

Clearly, Kirkman has no concerns about the television adaptation of The Walking Dead overtaking the comic series at any point. The most recently released issue was #161 and the TV series is currently around the #111 mark – exactly fifty issues behind. Considering that the comic series is released on a more regular basis and that the AMC series has rarely been accused of being fast-paced and any concerns that The Walking Dead will go the same way as Game of Thrones should be swiftly put to rest.
Of course, while the comic series is virtually certain to reach its 200th issue, the same can’t quite be said for AMC allowing The Walking Dead to run to twelve seasons. The show is, of course, incredibly popular despite its recent ratings dip and has already been commissioned for its eighth outing, but it’s a relatively rare occurrence for a TV show of this kind to last over ten seasons. America’s longest-running fantasy series, Supernatural, is currently in its twelveth season so if The Walking Dead did last as long as Kirkman is suggesting, it’d be in prestigious company.
Despite recent criticism and loss of viewership, The Walking Dead TV series has plenty of elements to get fans excited about the show’s future. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is electric as Negan, the new multiple communities offer plenty of fresh characters and forthcoming baddies The Whisperers are ideal for live-action interpretation. And with such a rich source material to draw from, the chances of The Walking Dead reaching season 12 are probably more likely than not.
The Walking Dead returns February 12th 2017 on AMC.

[h=1]Walking Dead Toned Down Violence After Season 7 Premiere Response[/h]

Earlier today, the censored UK cuts of Negan’s brutal kills from The Walking Dead season 7 premiere made their way online, illustrating an attempt by censorship boards to try to make the violent scenes more palatable for general audiences. Extended close-ups of Negan’s victims’ mutilated heads were excised, and the number of whacks they received from Lucille was cut down. A few key lines were also removed as well, arguably dulling the intended effect of each sequence.
Back in the U.S. though, the negative response many offered to Negan’s season premiere kills didn’t go unnoticed, with some speculating that the series’ ensuing ratings dip was attributable to viewers being turned off by the excessive amount of violence Negan’s victims endured. While Walking Dead has always been an extremely violent series, it appeared that showrunner Scott Gimple and company may have finally gone too far, even for some of TWD’s die-hard viewers.
With all that in mind, Variety is reporting executive producer Gale Anne Hurd said at the National Association of Television Program Executives conference ear that the show’s makers took the aforementioned complaints to heart. According to Hurd, TWD’s team responded to the negative feedback accordingly, toning down the level of violence in season 7 episodes that were yet to be completed.

We were able to look at the feedback on the level of violence. We did tone it down for episodes we were still filming for later on in the season. This is not a show that is torture porn, we don’t cross that line.”

Hurd’s use of the torture porn terminology definitely illustrates that TWD producers were paying attention to the outcry, as many upset viewers used the phrase to describe Negan’s kills at the time of the season 7 premiere broadcast. The torture porn designation first rose to prominence in the mid-2000s, in response to the rise of horror film series like Saw and Hostel, which commonly featured drawn out murder and torture scenes that sometimes seemed to be played more to excite the audience than terrify them. Although many genre fans grew to hate the phrase, it ended up sticking.
While these changes to the level of violence will surely be appreciated by those turned off by Negan’s head-smashing kills, one wonders how many hardcore horror lovers might in turn be annoyed by the reduction in violence. After all, a show about flesh-eating monsters kind of lends itself to high levels of gore. It’s impossible to please everyone, and by catering to one side, TWD’s producers obviously risk upsetting the other. Only time – and ratings – will tell if the decision to tone things down was the right move.
The Walking Dead season 7 returns Sunday, February 12 on AMC.

It was a good episode. Was hoping that they would start meeting each other soon. Liked the meeting, feels a bit like GOT, with Kingdoms meeting each other for a bigger war or something. :p

Can't wait to see how shit will go down. Oh and Rick's smile at the end, PRICELESS. I probably think it is just the joy of seeing another group, which means more numbers on their side according to RICK.
