[h=1]The Walking Dead Season 7 Won’t End On A Cliffhanger[/h]

For many, the current seventh season of The Walking Dead has been somewhat of a disappointment. Opening things up late last year with the brutal slayings of not one, but two characters that have been integral to the story for some time, the series immediately got off on the wrong foot with fans. The show even scored its lowest ratings in four years at the back-end of 2016 – though it did manage to pick things up again when it returned from its midseason break. Since then, the viewers have been a little kinder as to the direction the story is taking.
One of the main problems people cited for turning their back on the zombie show was the way in which Season 6 wrapped up. Series bosses decided to leave things on a cliffhanger to ensure fans would return to the show upon its Season 7 premiere, and further teased out the resolution, aggravating a lot of viewers.
Now, showrunner Scott Gimple has spoken out to assure fans they won’t be left with the same sort of irritating end that they had to deal with when Season 6 wrapped. Speaking to EW, Gimple explained:

“I just think it’s everything. It is everything and the kitchen sink. It is exciting and it’s very emotional and I believe it’s funny in a couple parts, and it builds and builds and builds and it explodes. And though it promises more – because there is a whole lot to get to – there is an ending. It really is just a huge episode inasmuch as it has all of the flavors of this season. It is taking your cup and going down each soda jet and taking a little from each one and then throwing in some hot sauce, a little bit of lime, and then maybe a tiny bit of tequila, as well.”

The comments come after it was revealed there will be death and bloodshed in the final episode. That doesn’t necessarily mean there’ll be a complete resolution of the main arcs, but at the very least, ‘Big Bad’ Negan won’t be waving goodbye just yet; this season has really only served as the start of his story and back in November 2016, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed that he had signed on for the show’s eighth outing.
It’s still good to hear that writers have taken into account everybody’s taste when it comes to the finale. Having been so far off the mark back in Season 6, they’re making sure they tick every box with the current season’s last episode so that more people than ever before will leave the show in a positive mood.
In saying that, the episode sounds like a massively jam-packed one. If those working on it try to do too much, they could end up shooting themselves in the foot and failing to achieve anything substantial. Hopefully, with all of their experience, they can avoid scoring an own goal on this one.
The Walking Dead continues on Sunday, March 19 with ‘The Other Side’ at 9pm on AMC. The Season 7 finale, ‘The First Day of the Rest of Your Life’ is scheduled to air two weeks later on Sunday, April 2.

Another slow one, but it had some good moments. I got FEELSY during that Daryl and Maggie convo, bringing back feels from the premiere episode. I also like Sasha and Rosita got more development together, and again some feels (I miss Abraham and Glenn).

Two episodes left, hoping that they deliver something really good.

Episode 16 Finale season 7

well finale's here and im not much satisfied here. it was OK not a great end to s7 just fine

it feels more of a midseason kinda finale rather than A FINALE of the season to me

Spoiler: show
sasha dying well I saw that coming since 3 episodes but turning into a zombie was something new so fine. Eugene not dead damn it, the moment carl was about to die and the tiger jumped in that was good. the weird junkyard people I saw that betrayal coming ohh yeah those fu**ing people were weird to begin with. so s8 we still go negan with us... he's coming with all he got now

Totally agree. The finale was alright, not too bad like I feared, but nothing great either. It feels like this whole season could have been wrapped up in 8 episodes, and this being the mid-season finale, while the whole war part could have been the second half of season 7. That would have honestly been great.

Spoiler: show

I was afraid that maybe the episode will end with Negan killing someone again or something like that. But THANK GOD for the Tiger attack, and the rest that followed. I really liked that, even though the action was kinda sloppy and all over the place, seeing Ezekial and team joining Maggie and team to save Rick and team just made me happy. That and the part where Rick finally talks back to Negan in his old way, I was like YES! GO RICK!. :D

And
Spoiler: show
Seriously fuck those garbage people. I was starting to like their leader, especially during that scene where she said she wanted to lay with Rick, it was awkward and funny. Betraying ass mofos. I hope Rick kills her SLOWLY!

The Walking Dead Season 7 Finale Ratings Hit 5-Year Finale Low

[SPOILERS for those not caught up on The Walking Dead ahead.]–
The season 7 finale of The Walking Dead aired on Sunday (April 2nd) and saw a drop-off in ratings from seasons past, even while bringing the first chapter of the Negan arc to a tense close. The episode saw Alexandria attempt to rebel against the Saviors, with Negan’s group arriving to make a display of dominance against Rick’s survivors. Having lost the loyalty of the Junkyard community, Rick and co. looked to be in a tight spot until the forces of the Hilltop and Kingdom arrived to save the day. As a result, ‘The First Day of the Rest of Your Life‘ acted as a set-up installment leading into next season’s All Out War arc.
Despite being hotly anticipated after the cliffhanger of the season six finale, The Walking Dead‘s seventh run has received a mixed critical reception from viewers, with some finding that the opening episode relied too much on shock value and character deaths. Others accused the show of becoming stale, using the same patterns and tropes from previous seasons. Furthermore, although Negan is a hugely popular character from the comic books, some sections of viewers struggled to become invested in the ongoing battle between him and protagonist Rick.

These misgivings have now seemingly translated into poor viewing figures as the ratings for Sunday’s episode roll in. Deadline reports that the episode attracted a total of 11.3 million viewers which represents a drop of 20% from last season’s closer and the lowest viewership for a finale episode of The Walking Dead since the final episode of season two. This continues a trend that saw the season six finale down 10% from the end of season five.

Although the figures certainly aren’t encouraging, it’s important to keep them in perspective and despite these developments, The Walking Dead is comfortably one of the strongest performing shows on television right now. It’s also worth keeping in mind that not only was the finale up against stiff competition from WWE’s annual Wrestlemania extravaganza, but The Walking Dead‘s season seven premiere episode back in October and the mid-season premiere earlier in the year both performed extremely well.
The news will perhaps not come as too much of a surprise to viewers who have become disillusioned with the show’s sometimes meandering pace and heavier focus on character introspection, when compared to the comic book source material. Now heading into an eighth season, there is perhaps only so long a zombie apocalypse can remain fresh and exciting, particularly with The Walking Dead often accused of repeating the formula of coming across a dangerous new group, eventually defeating them and then having a brief period of peace.
Clearly however, The Walking Dead remains an incredibly popular show and there were plenty of elements in season seven that deserved credit and give fans reason to be excited for the forthcoming season eight. Most notably, Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s portrayal of Negan is nothing short of mesmerizing, even if he wasn’t quite allowed to recreate the comic character’s colorful language. The Kingdom and its inhabitants have also been authentically portrayed and successfully integrated and the season saw several twists that took many fans by surprise (such as Jadis’ betrayal and Negan’s double murder in the opening episode).

season eight premieres this Fall on AMC.

[h=1]The Walking Dead Season 8: Simon, Nacon & Jadis To Be Series Regulars[/h]

The Walking Dead is heading to war and it looks like we have three more series regulars thrown into the mix. As we wrapped the heart-pounding Season 7 of The Walking Dead, all eyes are on where AMC’s show will go next. As Season 8 enters the second half of the “All Out War” storyline and Rick’s group are set to butt heads with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, we are sure to face a few more losses and a lot of bloodshed on the way.
Season 7 ended with an action-packed finale which saw Negan’s Saviors come knocking on Rick’s door and the killer twist that the Safe Zone residents were betrayed by their supposed ally Jadis. Valiantly, survivors from communities the Kingdom and the Hilltop came with a last-minute rescue and their very own tiger and turned the tables on Negan. As the attackers fled, it seems that most of the characters were gearing up to return for Season 8, but it also tipped Jadis as yet another villain of the zombie apocalypse.

Now, Variety reports that Steven Ogg, Katelyn Nacon, and Pollyanna McIntosh have all been promoted to series regulars next season. In case you don’t know the named behind the stars, Ogg plays Negan’s right-hand savior Simon, Nacon plays the angsty Enid, and McIntosh plays garbage queen Jadis. With Season 7 losing big players like Steven Yeun and Michael Cudlitz, it is good news that three more actors have been promoted to series regulars, although don’t expect all of them to make it out of the season in one piece.

For those hoping that we had seen the last of the riddle-talking Jadis, it looks like McIntosh’s part is set to get a lot bigger. Being completely unique to the show, those who are looking for Jadis in Robert Kirkman’s comic books will pull a blank. With Jadis being a new invention, it means that we have no idea how her story arc will go, however, after her betrayal of Rick, expect the Alendaria Safe Zone survivors to be out for revenge.
Elsewhere, Ogg’s performance as the creepy Simon was praised as one of the best parts of a mixed-bag season, but a man that was vastly underused. Some have even argued that Simon is a better villain than Morgan’s Negan. Simon was last seen helping the leader of the Saviors escape during the dramatic season finale and a hail of bullets.
As for Enid, her budding romance with Chandler Riggs’ Carl is sure to grow in the next season, however, we all know romance usually foreshadows death on the show. Enid has been spending a lot of time at the Hilltop recently, but could Season 8 return her to the Safe Zone and the arms of Carl?
The Walking Dead is slated to return in October and it is expected that the first trailer will premiere during San Diego Comic Con in July.

[h=1]The Walking Dead Can Use F-Bombs In Season 8[/h]

Fans of bad-mouthed comic book Negan rejoice as The Walking Dead season eight will come complete with F-bombs according to showrunner Dave Erickson. Although The Walking Dead has featured some colorful language throughout its seven seasons thus far, AMC have carefully restricted what words can and can’t be uttered by Rick and the gang. This has lead to some very awkward moments, most notably during the season four finale in which Andrew Lincoln’s line “they’re f**king with the wrong people” was changed to “screwing” for the episode’s TV airing and had a far weaker impact as a result.
The issue of swearing has been a noticeable problem since the arrival of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan. Part of the villain’s likeable charm in the comic books is his inventive and sweary use of the English language and naturally, this side to the character has yet to be fully realized on TV. Although there’s far more to Negan than just bad language, many viewers have felt that the on-screen iteration of the character is heavily watered down compared to the original.
Happily, it appears that AMC are loosening up their no-f**ks policy, albeit not by much. Speaking with Comic Book, Dave Erickson confirmed:

“You get a specific number of curse words you can say, and then there’s a list of what you can and can’t do. I think it was our script coordinator who told me there was an email had come up; there had been a memo saying we could now say “f**k” twice over the course of an entire season. I don’t know at what point AMC corporate decided to allow it, but they did.”

With only two F-bombs permitted per season, those hoping for a fully-unleashed Negan may have to reign in their expectations as the comic version of the character could meet that quota within a single speech bubble. It is somewhat odd however, that AMC are only relaxing this policy in time for The Walking Dead‘s eighth run. Studios tend to believe that excessive cursing restricts viewership but this theory has been thoroughly debunked by the likes of Game of Thrones which remains the hottest property on television despite its most recent season featuring Dame Diana Rigg calling someone a “c**t.” Furthermore, with the amount of violence and gore present in every single episode of The Walking Dead, the odd “f**k” hardly seems like a big deal in comparison to someone getting their head caved in by a baseball bat.
For some viewers, the presence of curse words in TV is a non-issue and their inclusion or omission has no impact on the quality of a show. However, when watching The Walking Dead, it’s difficult to escape the realization that in a world overrun by flesh eating re-animated corpses, it’s strange that everyone remains calm enough to keep their language PG-13.

[h=1]Walking Dead/Fear TWD Crossover Image: Worlds Collide[/h]

AMC has released a teaser image hyping the recently-announced The Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead crossover. Saturday at NYCC, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman dropped the bombshell news that an as-yet-unnamed character from one of the shows will be making an appearance on the other at some point in the future, marking the first time the two zombie series have been directly tied together.
With The Walking Dead asserting itself as a ratings juggernaut and pop culture phenomenon, AMC in 2015 elected to double-down by launching the sister series Fear the Walking Dead, moving the action from Atlanta and environs to Los Angeles and introducing a whole new group of characters. The Walking Dead team has always insisted that no direct crossover would ever happen between the two series, owing to insurmountable logistical issues, but evidently they’ve changed their minds.
The actual crossover is still a long way off, giving fans plenty of time to speculate on how exactly the trick will be pulled off. In the meantime, AMC has offered up a bit of poster art to tease the highly unexpected but (for many fans) welcome marriage of the two halves of the TV franchise (via CBR.com).

When announcing the crossover, Kirkman made it clear that the two shows will remain distinct entities even if, this one time, they will be sharing a character:
“We want these shows to have their own legs and have their own stories and be their own. There are two Walking Dead shows. There is one character that is going to go from one show — that I will not name — and appear in the other show — that I will not name.”

Unless someone gets out a pair of pliers and goes to work on Robert Kirkman’s toenails, we won’t be finding out anytime soon which character is switching series. One of the odds-on crossover favorites has to be Heath, the Walking Dead character played by Corey Hawkins who suddenly vanished in the middle of season 7 and hasn’t been seen since. Robert Kirkman has promised that Heath will return “eventually,” and speculation is that his return could happen all the way across America in Fear the Walking Dead. The only issue there is that, as of now, Fear is well behind TWD on the shared-universe timeline and for Heath to make the move either FWTD would have to jump forward in time or the character would have to fall into some kind of time warp.
Logistically, it might be easier for a character from Fear the Walking Dead to disappear and then reappear much later in time on The Walking Dead. But if the plan is to give Fear the Walking Dead a little ratings boost, it probably makes the most sense to transplant one of the more-popular second-tier characters (possibly Tara or Rosita) from the main show over to Fear, in hopes that more Walking Dead fans will then get interested.
One last possibility is that Fear the Walking Dead is set to come to a premature end, and Robert Kirkman has at least one character from that show he’d like to preserve by switching them over. Kim Dickens’ Madison and Alycia Debnam-Carey’s Alicia are the characters from Fear who would seem the best candidates to be rescued from that enterprise and given a chance to shine alongside Rick and the gang on the varsity team.
