Nothing wrong with submarine cables. I checked and looks like it's due to a cut in the network ring in north region i.e. Punjab/KPK. Shouldn't take long though.

Because in Pakistan only PTCL and TW have submarine cables, so the figures are skewed. We have 6 submarine cables and 3 experienced cuts in the last 2 months (TW1, SMW4 & IMEWE), which is just a coincidence.

Also around 10~15 submarine cables experience outages and are restored every week around the world but you don't hear about it because they don't effect us.

Doubtful that it's damaged again, one just done with maintenance and the other is still being worked on I think.

We'd have to be really unlucky if the cable gets cut again.

Lol bro Zong uses TW and PIE.

You can’t compare us to India either. They have more submarine cables than we do so if one goes down it doesn’t affect them as badly as it affects us.

Hello all, I've registered a new account to ask a few questions, since you people seem to be well versed in umm ptcl issues

So,

1. I recently applied for a transformed package around 4 days ago. My connection is still not upgraded, however, according to 1236 it's upgraded at their end, so the technical guy lodged a complaint for "port upgradation/port gradation", and promised rectification in 48 hours. Is this sufficient for now, or should I take further action? If yes, what are my options?

2. I'm still on ADSL2+, not on VDSL. Please find attached my line stats. Do you think my line can support a transformed 20MBps connection? If not, do I need vdsl?

3. What's the process for getting VDSL, and how much will it cost me? Installation charges/vdsl CARD charges, etc?

Your line can support 20Mbps but your SNR will go down which can cause disconnections.
They need to upgrade your connection to VDSL if your cabinet has VDSL card installed.

Just talk to the line man and ask him if the line parameters can be better .
There are no extra charges for VDSL and the should give you a new VDSL Dlink Modem as well. There is no upgrade fee as well.

Your parameters look good if you are facing disconnection at random time don't go for fast path it will make it worse if it's stable go for it I am using 5mb smart TV fast path with 11 down 6 up snr copper but my con is stable ask ptclcares he will do it for ya

The morons at ptcl have started a new game these days. U call 1236 to upgrade ur package but it doesnt get upgraded from backend. 1236 will say its upgraded but its not. Complain at 1218 and sum guy will visit u and then he will call xyz person to upgrade ur profile.
If ur exchange has vdsl modems and the infrastructure for vdsl is present in ur area then get upgraded to vdsl. It wont cost u anything extra and yes ur line can easily support 20mb + ur snr wont fall too. In vdsl , snr issue is vry vry minimal.

This is my 3rd month using 20mbps VDSL

In good news, my line stats have finally been upgraded to 20MB. The connection seems stable on ADSL for now, but I have applied for VDSL just in case, via the 1236 helpline.

I have one more noob question, apologies, while applying for vdsl I only told the 1236 representative to upgrade me to VDSL, I did not mention that I would (obviously) need a new VDSL modem as well. Will they automatically physically deliver a VDSL modem to me themselves once they install the VDSL card in their cabinet, or do i need to call them up again?
