Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition” Leaked by Sony & Retailers






In a Christmas Day surprise, Newegg, Amazon, and Buy.com have revealed a mysterious new game: Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition. Both Amazon and Newegg list a release date of January 17, 2012 and a price of $39.99 USD, but offer no further details on what this “XL Edition“ will actually contain.



This actually isn’t the first time the “Gran Turismo 5 XL” name has surfaced; it was originally included in a brief Sony FAQ about their “PlayStation Rewards Program” earlier this month, but didn’t garner much attention without any other supporting evidence or rumors of its existence. With three major U.S. retailers now officially listing the product, however, it is all but confirmed.
XL will – most likely – be the North American version of the Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 disc update recently announced for Japan, which includes all of GT5‘s software updates and DLC out-of-the-box. As you may recall, Sony Europe has already downplayed the chance of Spec 2.0 discs for the Old World.

Did anyone know? GT5 DLC can now finally be shared with the accounts on your PS3 !!!

My whole GT5 profile was played from a PSN account that was US based. My game was region 2 so I had got the DLC from my UK PSN account, but the DLC didn't show up in my main profile :( So for the DLC, I had to use the new account and start from scratch...so it was catching dust.

But yesterday I saw a new DLC "ticket" in the GT5 download sections that allows sharing of DLC content between accounts on a PS3!!! So my DLC downloaded from my UK PSN account now works with my US PSN account!!! AWESOMENESS. :D

GT5 XL Officially Announced With Reversible "Spec II" Box Art
"Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition” has been listed in online stores for a few weeks, and today, Sony has officially announced the product. In doing so, they’ve cleared up a lingering question about the DLC “voucher” that’s included with XL:

Voucher good for over $20 worth of DLC content, including the Racing Car Pack, Car Pack 2, Course Pack, Racing Gear Pack, and Paint Pack.

Of course, they’re referring to the October and December DLC packs, which can be purchased for a total of $15.98 in the United States. Online retailer NewEgg had previously listed XL’s DLC voucher at $25, but they have since revised their product description earlier today to mirror Sony’s comments.
The PlayStation Blog has also announced a novel feature of XL’s packaging: the cover sleeve is reversible. On the alternate side, you’ll find the Spec II box art as it’s being sold in Japan, which features the Red Bull X2011.

Gran Turismo 5 XL will carry a MSRP of $39.99 and will be released January 17, 2012 in the United States. It’s available for pre-order at Amazon, NewEgg, and Walmart.

New Gran Turismo Track Revealed in NSX Concept Video


Lamborghini Aventador, “Route X” Circuit, & More in Reported GT5 2.03 Details
Apparent information about Gran Turismo 5′s third round of DLC has appeared here. According to “Space Empire”, GT5′s 2.03 update will be launched on January 18th, and will include a few of the following new changes and features:
  • New themes for My Home in GT Mode.
  • An option for tire wearing in Pit Strategy (B-spec).
  • Simulates regenerative braking on electric cars.
  • Chaparral 2J Race Car ’70: Fan down force option.
  • Fixed unintended pit stop error in the final lap of a B-spec race.
  • 12 new colors and 12 new wall papers for My Home theme.
  • Electric cars run slowly without applying acceleration.
  • Regenerative braking affects the cruising distance
New downloadable content packs will, reportedly, also become available. The “Speed Test Pack” will include the new “Special Stage Route X Oval” revealed in the recent Honda NSX Concept video, and Car Pack 3 will include the following new vehicles:
  • Nissan Leaf G 2011
  • Aston Martin V12 Vantage 2010
  • Volkswagen Volkswagen 1200 1966
  • Jaguar XJR-9 LM Racecar 1988
  • Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 2011
  • Mini Mini Cooper S Countryman (R60) 2011

THIS is how you do DLC Polyphony! Very good pack, I can’t wait to throw money at them however it would be even better if it were like GT5P where online records for each individual car/track combo is made available.

Hey anyone know if GT5 dlc is region locked i have region 2 game but region 1 account. I have a region 2 account also but if i buy from there will i be able to play the dlc with my region 1 account.?

GT5 DLC is ACCOUNT LOCKED. Only the account that buys the DLC can play the DLC and the DLC region should match the disc region.
That said, there are a couple of "Family Account Sharing" patches in the DLC section of GT5 for the FIRST DLC set ONLY. This patch allows DLC content to be played from other PSN accounts on the SAME PS3. Region 1 accounts work too, disc should be region 2.

I'm not a huge fan of wearing 3D glasses or the tricks the technology plays on my eyeballs, but the Personal 3D Viewer's dual HD OLED screens made the uncomfortable feeling of adjusting my eyes to what I ​

Maybe I've seen too many dystopian near future sci-fi films. Regardless, strapping on an $800 3D display that's shockingly crystal clear and gives your eyeballs the impression they're looking at 150" of HDTV screen turns out to be kind of amazing. Especially when you're playing ​

It's a really awesome device, but kills sharing. If it comes with an additional port that can stream the output to another device as well then it can be useful.

    You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
