MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT (2018)
"Did we get it?"
Holy moly, it's been 3 years since
Rogue Nation yet it feels like yesterday, as i remember each and every freakin' glorious moment of it. It's mind boggling to see every Mission Impossible movie upping the ante with every next movie. Fallout just topped each and every single one of 'em. Heck, this sh*t right here, makes James Bond feel like sh*t.
Every single scene is a work of art, showing the maximum effort put into making it. It feels real, hits harder, and makes an everlasting impression.
'Airplane jumping scene', 'toilet fight', 'Cruise on motorcycle', 'helicopter chase', 'French lady police scene', 'Cruise running like hell broke loose', 'wooden cabin fight', 'final helicopter chase' and even the cliched '
mountain fight'; the total lack of shaky cam, and moderate use of CGI just commands massive respect. That
French Lady Police scene was by far my favorite in the movie. Btw, was that a diss to BMW's bike in this movie, where Cruise's bike didn't start? All those mask ripping scenes just never get old.
The humor is strategically placed to make you burst out HARD.
'Looks like you lost your oxygen', 'You must be new', 'Was the little car your idea?', 'Screen Lock', '2D', 'Benji as Lane'; every moment worth drooling over. My favorite moment, when
'Benji's cover as Lane is blown in that cell'. Had to give a standing ovation for the performance.
Rebecca Ferguson, still gorgeous as ever. I genuinely think she looked more dazzling in Rogue Nation. I would really love to see her part of the IMF in every Mission Impossible movie. And is that what Superman's been doing on vacation? Playing a '
Wanker' in Mission Impossible? lol. The dude is extremely talented. I'm surprised he held his own against Tom Cruise. Mad props to him for shelling out those amazing stunts. And kinda satisfying end for
Walker.
Simon Pegg makes me laugh everytime.
Sean Harris is just too good being a villain. His final fight in the Cabin looked visceral. Wonderful stunts choreography. We didn't see
Brandt (Jeremy Renner). I f*ckin' hate it when such choices are made. I mean, not even a hint was given of his absence. And for whatever reason they finished
Mr Secretary (
Alec Baldwin).
I understand why
Fallout is coming a Full Circle with
Julia (
Hunt's wife) and everything. (She hasn't aged a day, wtf). It only ads to the human aspect of Ethan Hunt. And i actually loved the way she was reintroduced. We needed to see more of her.
I could keep babbling about Fallout, but truth be told,
Fallout is one of the greatest movies i will never forget a moment of. It keeps the tension and entertainment to it's MAX.
Tom Cruise puts so much time and effort in his roles that he just overshadows everything on the screen. When you see him in a stunt, YOU KNOW that it's HIM doing the work, and not a stuntman. As per a stunt choreographer of
Fallout, Cruise only got two speeds. It's either standstill, or full throttle. And i wonder if we will have another actor to surpass his greatness. The guy broke his ankle for real while filming, and STILL completed the shot. THAT's the determination a handful of actors bring to screen.
9/10. What a GEM this is.
