Ok started watching all Oscar 2018 nominations

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

So this was my 3rd n last movie yesterday after seeing the nomination list for 2018 Oscars. Excellent movie, a deserving nomination for best actress in leading with two other nominations in Best Actor in supporting role for Sam and Woody. Such an interesting story. The very first scene shows 3 broken billboards and the talented Frances McDormand. 2 minutes into the movie and we are already hooked with the story. When you know the lead actor got nominated for Oscar for this role, you pay extra attention to their scenes and watch them more critically. Frances did a wonderful job. Who knew 10 years after Fargo, she will get another chance to grab the gold. Brilliant actors and story was very well written. This movie deserves to be best movie of the year but other nominations are quite good to beat especially Shape of the Water and Phantom Thread.Must watch before 3rd March :D
9.5/10

The Post

Well this was the 2nd movie i watched yesterday. Quite interesting way to tell a known historic fact and Steven Spielberg had quite an amazing cast to pull this off. Hanks n Streep were as usual solid. Loved Streep more and throughout the movie her presence on screen was varying showing us various shades of her acting skills. By the end we see a very strong lady who made the historic decision to print the story putting her legacy on the line. The post was a good movie, more thrilling and captivating than the other two movies. Streep has got a deserving nomination but like i said, other nominations are also quite impressive especially Sally Hawkins (Shape of the water).

9.2/10

Roman J. Israel, Esq.

What an amazing movie, written especially for Denzel Washington by Dan Gilroy (as he mentioned his one of interviews). Denzel is brilliant craftman of characters he plays and this time he crafted Roman, my one of the fav all times movie characters. A strange character which can only exist in fiction because world today is not suitable for such kind a man and even fiction couldnt keep him alive for long. Denzel talks alot in his interviews as how he crafted that character and his look. Dan Gilroy even expressed in one of his interviews that if Denzel had not accepted the role, he would not have done the movie. In this tie and age, its very rare we see a movie which is driven by one man n who pulls along everyone. Denzel gave an impressive performance and every other guy with him also gave his best performance. Collin Farrell was sharp, precise and "rolling" with his every scene in the movie. Lets hope its a 3rd Oscar for Denzel this year if Lewis doesnt win it in his presumably last role.

9.2/10

The Cloverfield Paradox: As someone who loved the first Cloverfield film, and enjoyed 10 Cloverfield Lane as well, and as someone who was into this universe they were creating and was looking forward to the next entry that was supposedly gonna answer it (as marketed), this was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

The big/main issue with this movie is that as a standalone sci-fi thriller, this could have been an OK watch. CGI is nice, the premise is interesting, the pacing is fast and the actors do a good job, even if there is a lot of stupid shit that happens in the movie. But when it acts like it is part of the Cloverfield universe and gives you a cheap answer, it just doesn't work. Sure you can theorize about it A LOT, and I mean a lot, but not in a good way. So many possibilities but hardly any substance. It just feels like a cheap copout.

Should have remained as 'The God Particle'. Hell, 'Life', a sci-fi thriller that was released not that long ago and people were speculating that it could have been a Cloverfield prequel feels like a much better option. I'm actually gonna go with that for the time being until 'Overlord' is released and see where that takes us. :p

Godzilla: Monster Planet: 3D Animation was 50/50, sometimes it looked beautiful but sometimes it was meh. The characters were boring and didn't have any proper development, the premise was interesting but the world building left a lot to be desired.BUT I was still satisfied at the end because this movie perfectly puts the 'GOD' in GODZILLA. I MEAN GODDAMN!! You truly feel like Godzilla is this anomaly that is beyond anything. A force of nature that wrecks everything in its path. A being that Humans+Two other E.T races couldn't beat. A TRUE KING OF THE MONSTERS! I LOVED that.

Also loved the design of Godzilla, was very similar to Godzilla 2014, but ultra ripped like he's been hitting the gym every day.

And the movie ends on a super high Jaw Dropping
note, something that made the Godzilla fan in me screaming with joy.

The new additions to Godzilla's lore are interesting. It is the first part of a trilogy, so I can't wait for the next one and see where they take it.
GOJIRA/GODZILLA/BIG G FTW!!

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
