I was expecting something more, but I won't say anything till the 2nd episode is out.
That 2024 scene at the end blew my mind...
That was literally awesome. An indication to infinite crisis. With the Arrow and Flash universe already shared, and the news paper at the end showing Queen and Wayne merger. It seems Bats is coming to the TV universe as well. Not likely though, but still awesome :D

I don't think DC will link their TV and movies universes. Also Dr. Zoom's name is Eobard Thawne, and the closest we have is that Det. Eddie Thawne.
but the one who killed his mom... the "yellow flash" is zoom right? and seeing how he travels through time and this guy was looking at a future newspaper could show that it is zoom... they might change the name of the character as he is posing as someone else maybe...

Meet Flash’s New Frienemy

[h=2]Flash’s Future Nemesis Revealed?[/h]
As casting on Arrow continues, The CW has released a new featurette (below) for the network’s upcoming superhero spinoff, The Flash. The video focuses on “Detective Pretty Boy” also known as Detective Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett). Candice Patton (who plays Iris West) talks about the overconfident detective, as well as how his character interacts with other members of the Central City police force and Iris. Patton also drops some hints of a romantic relationship between her character and Detective Thawne.

The video also features new footage from The Flash, some of which hints at the possible storyline of Detective Thawne becoming Professor Zoom, or Reverse-Flash, the Flash’s archnemesis. The line, “or do you want to find out the hard way you’re not faster than a bullet,” uttered by Cosnett’s character seems to be as close to foreshadowing Professor Zoom as the show can get without stating Detective Thawne’s future outright. Question is: will fans be on board with this revised telling?

These new details about Arrow and The Flash offer some insight into the direction each show will take next season, while still leaving enough room for fans to be surprised. Presumably, more information will come to light following the debut of The Flash at the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 later this month as well as both show’s panels during the convention.

The Flash premieres Tuesday October 7th @8PM on The CW; Arrow season 3 premieres Wednesday October 8th @8PM on The CW.

Robbie Amell Joins THE FLASH As Firestorm

I guess it pays to have a cousin portraying a lead superhero on a hit CW series. Robbie Amell has joined CW's upcoming series, The Flash in a super-powered role. He's just the latest addition to a pretty impressive lineup the DC TV world has built so far.

Robbie Amell, former star of The Tomorrow People and cousin of Arrow lead Stephen Amell, has joined the cast of The Flash in the recurring role of Ronnie Raymond, otherwise known as Firestorm. He is currently set to debut in the third episode of the upcoming season.

Raymond is said to be a S.T.A.R. Labs maintenance worker and Dr. Caitlin Snow’s fiancé, who played an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transformed Barry Allen into The Flash. This is a slight deviation from his comic book counterpart, but we'll see how this plays out in the fall.

Zoon is paranoid. He wants to Barry's life as much as possible. The thing was killing some people meant that his own existence will cease, until he realized killing his mother won't.

[h=1]‘The Flash’ Casts Wentworth Miller As ‘Captain Cold’; ‘Arrow’ Crossover Planned[/h]

He may not be as well-known, well-respected, or well-regarded as other DC Comics supervillains, but in the world of The Flash, few members of the speedster’s rogues gallery are as beloved as ‘Captain Cold.’ Now that villain has officially been cast for The CW’s upcoming series, with Prison Break star Wentworth Miller landing the part – and confirming that the show will waste no time in bringing the key players in “The Flash” universe to TV audiences everywhere.

The news of the casting comes as The Flash‘s showrunners have begun discussing their hopes for the series at the Television Critics Association’s fall previews, currently underway. More details or comments on why Miller has been cast have yet to be released, but it’s a decision that is far from mysterious: Miller proved capable of carrying a series with Prison Break, earning a fan following in the process (bolstered by his appearance in the Resident Evil series).

What we do know, according to executive producer Greg Berlanti, is that Miller’s character will be given a proper origin story which will also help lay the foundations for the rest of the Rogues (Barry Allen’s various enemies, who regularly plot and attack en masse in the comic books). So those who feared the addition of Firestorm (Robbie Amell) to the cast showed that established “Flash” characters would be taking a back seat can breath a sigh of relief.

Geoff Johns has made no secret of his affection for “The Flash,” having returned Barry Allen to the comics after a decades-long absence with the acclaimed “Flash: Rebirth,” and using the hero to launch the company-wide ‘New 52′ reboot. Given that dedication to the source material, it’s no surprise that Johns plans to bring as much of it to fans as possible:

“It’s probably the most faithful DC Comics adaptation ever… We’ll add some things of our own, but we’ll incorporate almost all the mythology of the comic — particularly in the first nine episodes.”

It also makes sense to see ‘Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold’ one of the first regular villains cast, as we heard Johns explain to an audience at San Diego Comic-Con last year that out of all the DC Comics villains, Captain Cold was his favorite. In other words: it’s safe to say that Wentworth Miller’s casting was fairly scrutinized.

Comic book convention would suggest that the real villain of The Flash will turn out to be ‘The Reverse-Flash’ (and we’ve got some theories on that coming soon), but this casting confirms that Captain Cold isn’t to be taken lightly. His powers are obvious enough (an array of freeze-rays and guns), although the S.T.A.R. Labs catastrophe which granted Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) his powers will likely imbue Snart with ‘metahuman abilities.’ In this case, the ability to “chill” the very air around him (as is the case with the New 52 version).

Besides casting Miller, the new details on the origin story and faithful adaptation are promising. While the first synopsis and footage of The Flash‘s pilot episode implied a monster-of-the-week structure (with Barry hunting down metahuman villains on a weekly basis), Johns’ claim that he’ll be overseeing “the most faithful adaptation” fans have seen implies something very different.

For starters, Captain Cold is the de facto leader of the Rogues, enforcing a non-lethal approach to organized crime. To say Captain Cold is an unconventional ‘bad guy’ would be an understatement; and since it’s those characteristics that presumably make him Johns’ favorite, there’s a very real chance that Miller could get to explore those aspects over the course of the series.

As if it weren’t enough work bringing the mythology of “The Flash” and “Firestorm” to TV, the showrunners are already looking to make the most of their budding DC/TV universe, with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealing the imminent plans to (once again) fuse the Arrow universe with that of The Flash:

“Episodes 8 of both shows, Arrow and Flash, are going to be a two-hour crossover event… [Also] in Episode 4, Felicity [Emily Bett Rickards] is going to come to The Flash.”

We’ll know more once The CW arrives at Comic-Con to screen the first episode, but for now, what do you think of Miller’s casting? Is he the kind of brooding tactician needed to do Captain Cold justice, or are you more interested in how closely the show follows the comic books?

[h=1]‘The Flash’ Pilot Images; Episode 4 to Feature Felicity Smoak[/h]

With less than a week left until The CW premieres the pilot of The Flash at San Diego Comic-Con, even those who are unable to attend should have a pretty good handle on the first episode as well as much of the first season. Between the extended first trailer, the many featurettes, and the numerous casting announcements – including Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) as Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold and Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) as FirestormThe Flash creators are painting a clear picture of their upcoming series for fans through the marketing.

Now, so close to the SDCC premiere, some new images from The Flash pilot have surfaced online along with bigger versions of previously released stills. Additionally, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg gave a concrete answer as to when Arrow’s Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) would appear on The Flash.

CBM has reported that episode 4, titled “Going Rogue,” will feature Smoak as well as introduce Miller’s Leonard Snart/Captain Cold. Kreisberg said Smoak will act as a type of mentor to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his own team: Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), and Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh).

Read Kreisberg’s full quote:

It’s an episode where Barry’s beginning to question his teammates, and Felicity coming along is not just to reconnect with him; it actually serves a grander purpose, which is that Felicity is somebody who knows how difficult it is to have teammates who are fighting crime. So, she’s there to offer some sage advice, both to Barry and to to Caitlin, Cisco, and Wells. So we’re really excited.

Episode 4 will be the first crossover between The Flash and Arrow (not including Arrow’s pep talk with Flash in the pilot), but another will follow in episode 8, which will be a special 2-hour event. Although these crossover episodes between The CW’s two DC-based superhero series indicate that the network – as well as Kreisberg and fellow executive producer Greg Berlanti – aren’t shy about using established characters to help kick-start The Flash, the casting of so many new characters should give hope to fans that want to see Allen fighting super-powered villains on his own.

Whether viewers are hoping for a cohesively shared universe between Arrow and The Flash or that the two series will remain as separate as possible, it appears Berlanti and Kresiberg are hoping to strike the right balance between crossovers and standalone story arcs. Besides, there’s only so much crossover opportunity when the shows take place in their own distinct cities.

In addition to the new information about Smoak’s appearance in The Flash, CBM also released three new images from the pilot episode as well as two high definition stills. Check them out below:

These images feature the core cast of The Flash: Gustin, Panabaker, Valdes, Cavanagh, Candice Patton (who plays Iris West), and Jesse L. Martin (Detective Joe West). Unfortunately, any of these stills depict scenes from the trailer and offer little new insight into the pilot. However, plenty of new information about the first episode will surface after it’s screened to the public during SDCC.

Are you looking forward to seeing The Flash TV show this fall?

[h=1]‘The Flash’ Casts ‘Plastique’; Could A ‘Firestorm’ Spinoff Be In The Works?[/h]

After a strong showing at Comic-Con 2014, The CW’s small screen adaptation of The Flash is continuing its momentum by expanding the cast of DC Comics heroes and villains on what seems to be a daily basis. The latest character added to the roster is none other than ‘Bette Sans Souci,’ an explosive metahuman going by the moniker Plastique, now set to be played by Kelly Frye.

News of the character’s addition comes from E! Online, with Frye’s first appearance coming in Episode 5 of The Flash‘s first season. According to their source, Sans Souci will be a veteran bomb disposal expert who, in a cruel twist of fate, is given the ability to turn any item into an explosive device by the same S.T.A.R. Labs disaster that blesses Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) with superspeed.

Proving that metahuman abilities don’t turn anyone into a supervillain, the character will apparently be fleeing US forces looking to use her powers for their own ends when she runs into Allen, meaning she could potentially become an ally. That is unless Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) can recruit her for his own team.

In the original comics, it was Firestorm, not The Flash, who was first tied to the arrival of Plastique. When Sans Souci (French for “carefree”) began using explosives in an act of terrorism, it was that hero (also known as Ronnie Raymond) who foiled her plan. Eventually gaining the ability to create explosive energy, Plastique found her way into everything from the Suicide Squad to the Secret Society of Super Villains.
Since Firestorm will be played by Robbie Amell on The CW series, the presence of two villains tied more closely to him than Barry Allen – first Killer Frost, now Plastique – implies that the showrunners may be placing a larger emphasis on Firestorm than a secondary character generally receives. Executive producer Greg Berlanti previously claimed that the writers designed the series to include Ronnie,” from the very beginning, but it’s becoming increasingly clear just how integral ‘The Nuclear Man’ may be to the series’ opening chapters.

With so much emphasis being placed on Firestorm, we have to ask the question: does The CW have plans for launching a standalone series based on Ronnie Raymond in the future? DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has explained that for Warner Bros., the movie and TV universes are intended to stand on their own, and while Firestorm may not be on the same level as Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman, he is certainly deserving of a TV adaptation.

As an everyday young man who possesses the ability to psychically link with his former professor to gain mastery over elements on the atomic level, “Firestorm” was aimed squarely at a teenage audience (what high school student doesn’t dream of working their way into the Justice League?). By casting Amell – who had previously starred in The CW’s Tomorrow People, it’s possible that the network is starting to lay the groundwork for another spin-off almost immediately.

We already know that Arrow will be one half of a four-hour crossover event for Episode 8 in both of the shows’ upcoming season, meaning three Justice League members could potentially share the screen. Does it make sense to keep two on one show? Or if Amell’s Firestorm gains an audience, could The CW hand each of the heroes their very own spotlight?

The top priority for now is, of course, to get The Flash moving forward and catching on as well as Arrow. The showrunners are off to a strong start on that front, with our review of The Flash‘s pilot episode seeing serious potential for the series. But just as one success spawned another – while using a love interest as a link between stories – the creative team may be looking to repeat the feat. Of course, that’s just speculation on our part.

Would you be on board with the idea? Or would you like to see Barry Allen simply gain a partner and metahuman friend with which to join forces on a week-to-week basis? Share your own thoughts in the comments, and we’ll keep you up to date if more signs surface.
The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 @8pm on The CW.

[h=1]‘The Flash’ Adds Tony Woodward AKA Girder as Recurring Villain[/h]

The CW’s Arrow spin-off The Flash is gearing up to hit TV screens this fall after the premiere of the pilot episode at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, and recent weeks have seen the show’s cast of recurring characters starting to fill out with several familiar names from DC comics. Since the pilot established that Barry Allen was far from the only person affected by the particle accelerator disaster at S.T.A.R. Labs, quite a few of these upcoming characters have superpowers of their own.

Wentworth Miller is set to play villain Captain Cold, while on the other end of the thermometer Arrow star Stephen Amell’s cousin Robbie Amell will play Firestorm. Kelly Frye will appear in the first season as Bette Sans Souci AKA Plastique, and Arrow regular Emily Beckett Richards (who plays Felicity Smoak) is also set to make a guest appearance.

It’s lucky that Barry Allen has so much energy, because he’s going to need it with the number of superpowered villains now set to appear. TV Line reports that episode 6 of The Flash season 1 will introduce Tony Woodward AKA Girder, according to a casting call that reveals the character is an old schoolmate of Barry’s who used to bully him when they were kids.

In the comics Woodward is a steel worker who gets dunked into a vat of molten steel, which had been treated with products of S.T.A.R. Labs’ experiments. His body is transformed into a jumbled mass of metal, and the casting call describes Girder as “a grinning lunkhead who loves destruction [and an] unstoppable force… who can transmute any part of his body into solid steel.” Based on this description, it sounds like the TV version of Woodward will look normal most of the time and will be able to transform into Girder selectively.

The main antagonist of The Flash pilot, who was based on DC villain Weather Wizard, was arguably the weakest part of the episode, but a roster of strong and interesting villains could be exactly what is needed to get the series off to a running start. Girder hasn’t yet been cast, but with The Flash premiering on The CW in just a couple more months, we can expect to have a face to put to the name fairly soon.

Already The Flash has clearly demonstrated a much more fantastical tone compared to the relatively grounded Arrow, and introducing a different supervillain in each episode could be a great formula for the first season. Hopefully we’ll get to see even more members of the Rogues Gallery in the first season, or even see unsmiling S.T.A.R. Labs scientist Caitlin Snow transform into her superpowered alter-ego, Killer Frost.
The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 @8pm on The CW.

[h=1]‘The Flash’ Casts Greg Finley as Tony Woodward AKA Girder[/h]

Attedees who saw the pilot episode of The CW’s upcoming Arrow spinoff The Flash at San Diego Comic-Con this year may have joined us in feeling disappointed by Barry Allen’s first super-powered enemy: a version of the Weather Wizard from the comic books, who gains the power to control the weather during the particle accelerator disaster at S.T.A.R. Labs. In Screen Rant’s review of the pilot, we found Weather Wizard to be the episode’s low point.

Luckily, there are plenty more villains lined up for the rest of The Flash season 1. The pilot introduced Caitlin Frost – who in the comics eventually takes on the villain alias Killer Frost – as a member of the S.T.A.R. Labs team, and also suggested that S.T.A.R. scientist Harrison Wells might know more than he’s letting on. Casting news has also revealed that upcoming villains will include Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold and Clancy Brown as General Wade Eiling.

We now have an update on one of the recurring villains that was previously announced for The Flash. Tony Woodward AKA Girder, a steel worker who bullied Barry while they were at school together, will be played by Star-Crossed actor Greg Finley, according to a report by Zap2It. In the source material, Tony Woodward becomes tough-as-nails (literally) supervillain Girder after being thrown into a vat of molten steel contaminated by S.T.A.R. Labs materials. In previous character descriptions, however, it has been implied that the TV version of Girder will be able to shift between human and metal forms at will.

Prior to playing Drake, the tough Atrian militant of Star-Crossed, Finley had a long-standing regular role on ABC’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and has guest-starred on House M.D. and Law and Order: SVU. He also co-starred in 2012 horror film Hypothermia with Michael Rooker.

As we reported previously, Girder is set to appear in episodes six and seven of The Flash. If the show follows the pattern already set by Arrow, then there are no doubt many more familiar faces from DC comics set to appear, and the S.T.A.R. Labs explosions opens up opportunities for all kinds of characters with superpower.

The villain-of-the-week format could end up working very well for The Flash‘s first season, but there have already been hints of what the show’s first story arc might involve. At least a showdown with Girder should allow Barry to confront one of the traumatic experiences from his childhood.

The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 7th @8pm on The CW.
