Ok so i finally FINALLY got around to watching The Original Trilogy after years of hearing about it from references in TV shows to Darth Vader parodies to whatnots
Downloaded the HD Version, gathered a couple of cousins who are movie buffs also anxious to see what the hype

I was gonna post it in the Movies Thread but i believe this requires its own thread as i want Feedback from all those who have watched it and no Uncles :wink2:

Is this seriously worth the amount of praise it gets?
Is it not a very very Overrated Franchise?
Are the Jedi completely and absolutely Useless? -_-

I went in hoping that im about to watch a series that might become one of the my favorite franchises
Following is my take one the Series (Spoilers)

Spoiler: show
Now i started the movie with the mindset that yes it is a 1977 Film and i will treat its visuals as such

Star Wars: A New Hope
So the first movie started out slowly and being impressed by the amount of Ratings and fan following the movie has we patiently watched but just couldnt bear it
The annoying Droids and Chewbacca, the absolutely STUPID Storm Troopers, the Stick in the a$$ Darth Vader along with the garbage fight scenes and that HARDCORE FIGHT Between Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader -________________- what the F was that.

Chalo it was 1977 but the Dialogues? The Story? :S
Moving on

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
So after few cups of Coffee and some arguments over whether to watch it or not we eventually started it

I must say this was actually pretty good "Relatively" and even the visuals were better along with the Story and its twists, betrayals, suspense
When Luke looses his hand that was hardcore along with the revelation

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
Very slightly impressed by the previous one we wholeheartedly started this one as now we were gonna see some "Jedi" and the so called "Epic Conclusion to an Epic Series" along with it being a 1983 film one would hope for comparatively better visuals and action .......OH BOY

The fight with Jabba the Hut and Luke Skywalker's "Power" and "Plan"
That was his plan? The freaking R2 D2 is gonna hand him his LightSaber and he will pwn everyone? Thats Bollywood right there
"You dont know my Power im a Jedi" oh bhai konsi power? aik number ka khassi admi paired up with an inteha ka farigh fight scene

Next the stupid koala bears their scenes were a torture to watch specially from the time they capture Leia to the point where they freed them
Then the fight between Rebels + koala bears vs Storm Troopers :(
Why are they wearing suits if 1.5 Feet koala bears can knock them down with pieces of freaking Wood?
It was by far ONE of the lamest things i have ever seen but THE most Lamest Things i would ever see was yet to come sadly

Now Emperor is on the scene and he seems like one bad mofo ok im impressed a bit and then there is talk how "Jedi" are the last hope and that there is another Skywalker (Leia)
But when the final fight took place between Jedi "Luke Skywalker" and the Emperor i was dumbfucked ABAY RETURN OF THE JEDI? SALA JEDI GULLI KAY Abuses will lead to banY KI TARHA MAAR KHA RAHA HAI

And then it happened Darth Vader lifts the Emperor and throws him down a hole (lmao)
We laughed our asses off, Rewind the Scene and laughed again. Epic conclusion? The Lamest Shit i have ever seen -_-

Purpose of Jedi? Nothing
Purpose of revealing Leia to be the "One"? Nothing
Emperor? LOL

Good thing About all Three Movies? Indiana Jones (sm1)

no need for a spoiler tag if you want feedback... let it be a spoiler thread.... it was hard for me to watch these movies as well... due to the bad effects... but the ESSENCE and the SPIRIT of the story is what got to me... i am a person who can get past bad fight scenes and cgi... you might enjoy the newer ones more then as they have good fight scenes and modern cgi...

Actually the OT Trilogy was a big thing back then. Special effects were top notch and people found the story intriguing as well. This makes sense since Star Wars was a unique material during 1970s and 1980s. The OT Trilogy has a cult following since then.

Empire Strikes Back Episode is by far the best Star Wars movie ever made.

Yes, Ewoks in Return of the Jedi Episode suck. Many Star Wars fan agree on this. I guess that Lucas intended to add some humour with Ewoks but it backfired.

In current times, Sci-Fi works are a norm and special effects are significantly better. Those who are accustomed to modern works may not enjoy the classics.

Just from my perspective they are good enough

So the Prequel Trilogy? Good enough?
Nope. But Part-III (Revenge of the Sith) is actually quite good. But then you'll have to watch the first two parts as well.

Star Wars is overrated beyond measure. "Alien" is from the same era but the effects are brilliant even from todays standards.

I enjoyed the prewuel trilogy alot more than the originals, for one thing you won't be dissapointed by the visuals, I saw the movies in 2010 and they still looked pretty awesome even though they were made in the early 2000s.Plus the story of Anakin Skywalker is much better compared to Luke and leia's.Give them a go.

TBH, we didn't get to see these movies when they were released in their respective time and era...

Now our eyes and mind is adapted to watch visuals in HD and such so we cannot now bear to watch old movies where the CGI and SFX were prime in that time...

Even at first I was hesitant to watch Star Wars, but due to insane amount of parodies, references and what not, I finally decided to give it a go...

And guess what, I watched all 6 movies, granted the original series was a little hard to watch because of the visuals and such but nearing the prequel trilogy it got better :p

Also one reason that many people who watch Star Wars this late don't enjoy it because they think that the story is too bland and repetitive and many aspects have been covered in many movies, what they fail to realize is that it was this movie (or any other old movie) that gave rise to ideas modern movies are based upon...

So one should watch an old movie with their minds set back to that era...

So well I enjoyed all 6 parts, Vader was awesome :p

^^Not sure what you're talking about there, the first movie especially was the most boring Sci Fi movie I've ever seen, the acting was terrible, the plot made no sense and the worlds shown were pretty bland, I see how StarWars would appeal to kids and people in their early teens back in the eighties, that's the era when most Star Wars fans come from I guess. :p
