That's a valid observation. It holds true for many classical movies as a matter of fact.
I recall being underwhelmed after watching Se7en because I felt a similar plot and ending had been done so many time over the years. Little did I know that movie was the first one of its kind. Same with "(F)Lawrence of Arabia", "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and a host of other films.
But the acting was generally poor in Star Wars. One of the reasons I don't put it beside the other classics in my list.
