Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

I will probably keep my PS4 and Xbox one s as much as possible and my gaming laptop .will skip next gen. consoles

They would probably provide a few more hints through 2019 but won't officially announce it before 2020. Just a guess.
Considering the quality of work being produced by Rockstar in RDR2 and the size of the world created in AC Odyssey I believe that current gen consoles have still got enough juice to last about 2 more years.

yesterday in which he said that the PlayStation 4 is heading into the end of its life cycle.

Looking forward, it seems likely that the next three years will include price drops for the PS4 family of systems, on top of Kodera’s stated plan
to focus on exclusive titles and the digital services being offered through the PS4. Sony said during its annual Investor Relations Day yesterday
that it aims to employ the strategy in question through its 2020 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2021.
Kodera has indicated that subscriptions and online services will play an even bigger role in whatever console comes after the PS4.
“We need to depart from the traditional way of looking at the console life cycle,” Kodera explained. “We’re no longer in a time when you
can think just about the console or just about the network like they’re two different things

More love for streaming, PS Now, PS Vue is only expected from stakeholders who own these, not from most of the developers and neither the general public. In the long term such features would only end up like kinect, VR etc.

1. A 2021 launch for PS5 is hardly surprising: PS3 launched in 2006, PS4 in 2013, PS5 in 2021. 8 year cycles.

2. Again, not surprising. Holiday season deals are the norm.

3. Streaming. Now this is the decisive point for the upcoming gen, and the only reason to question the development of next-gen consoles. I am hinting of course at Google's Project Stream. I'm very curious to see the developments that take place in this area within 12 months.

That is still unlikley to happen because from a business point of view Sony would still be losing a lot of $, since they would have to sell such assets as a dlc which means a price tag around 20$.

Whereas, they have successfully sold quite a lot of remastered titles at full price, take TLOU as an example, Shadow of Colossus is another one.

Sadly, we fail to realize that we are now living in a post 2005 era and gaming industry has become more about making money. Back then games were developed for gamers by gamers but that is not the case now.

But my question still remains. You are only thinking of it as a gamer while I am trying to assess the situation from a business perspective.

Secondly, backward compatibility is not a game changer in my personal opinion that could turn the table in favor of either of the two.
