Okay guys, I've looked around and I can't seem to make up my mind. This is the first time I'm going to be spending this much on a phone so I want it to be just the right device.

I've heard a lot of good about the Nexus but the Galaxy SII's screen size is too tempting. Has it received official ICS as yet?
Currently, I'm using a BlackBerry so this will be my first personal Android device. What I want to know are the pros and cons of each phone and why I should go for it.
At the end of each post from you guys, just write the phone you guys suggest I should go for.

Thank you.

In addition to the OP's query:

How long will it take for the S3's price to drop below 45K.

Not an expert on prices but imo it'll drop to 45k in about 4-5 months time.

@OP - both have their advantages and disadvantages. I would personally go for the SII as its lighter and more durable then nexus imo. Having a light phone is my mian priority hence i picked S2. On the other hand Nexus has Jelly bean,720p screen res so, you decide what you want :p

Nexus has an orgasmic screen. It was enough for me to pick it over the SII.

I'd say you ideally use both and then decide. I'm in love with the Nexus, and thus my suggestion may seem biased.

However, it is going to be updated to Jelly Bean in a few weeks officially, and the ROMs are here already. A lot of performance gain has been reported. (R3Z0N)

Yawarjr17! What do you mean by "S2's screen size is too tempting"? Are you trying to say that its Too Favorable for you? Or is it the Huge Size of G.Nexus' screen which is too Uncomfortable for you?

In any case, its a tie between both handsets.

One packs a more powerful hardware (S2) while the other delivers a completely different ICS experience. (Now upcoming Jelly Bean i.e. Android 4.1)

All i would say here is ... If you are a big fan of playing games on your device, you might wanna consider the S2 because of its Powerful Hardware. The additional benefits would be:
- MicroSD Card support
- RGB SuperAMOLED Plus screen
- Powerful GPU
- Huge Custom ROMs & Mods support
- Brilliant 8MP Camera

The things where G.Nexus excels at:
- 720p Orgasmic Screen w/ Bigger Screen Size
- Exclusive ICS (now Jelly Bean) experience
- Faster camera shutter
- Audio Quality a bit better than S2.

These are SOME of the things i was able to mention. Other than that, its totally upto you to decide which one you would like to purchase.

LordIT! Dont expect the prices to go down below 49k for the next Full Year. (Incase the next Flagship comes early and packs even more powerful punch)

Why are people even considering a sub 720p screen now a days? 720p is absolute minimum. Compare S2 screen with G.Nexus and you'll know.

... because we are stuck with minimum choices for a 720p screen (sm1)
Even if you have 1 choice, go for it. Seriously is screen something you'd want to compromise on? And its not a small difference. S2 looks 10 years old compared to G.Nexus when it comes to screen.

How is that an advantage? Galaxy nexus screen is sharper which is all that matters.
Only if you buy second hand, the regular S2 is no longer available new. The i9100G will still have a gaming edge not due to powerful GPU but lower resolution.
And galaxy nexus doesnt have huge support? :crying:

Not everyone digs pixels like you do.

The irony in that statement always makes me laugh. People with better vision are unlikely to benefit alot from high PPI as they dont need to keep the display very close to their eyes. Sure micro text detail is gonna be better but you wont actually see any pixels. For those people with weaker eye sight is another issue they will keep the phone much closer to their eyes which will make the pixels visible. But so what even if at times you can see pixels?? It's not the end of the world OMG!!!!!!!!!

Is this even an argument? Whether a 480x800 screen is better or equal than 1280x720? Please stop being silly.

Who said it is equal?? Is screen the only thing that matters in a phone? Fact is S2 screen is still better than quite alot of screens.

You talk like a 720p phone is available dirt cheap :tv:

Seriously though ... If G.Nexus has a 720p screen, that ALONE is NOT a motivating factor to purchase this phone.

Seriously is screen something you'd want to compromise on?
No ... but its better to consider the overall package and not JUST the screen.

I am in no way criticizing either the G.Nexus or S2 for their ... package.

And its not a small difference. S2 looks 10 years old compared to G.Nexus when it comes to screen.
NO ... Period!

How is that an advantage? Galaxy nexus screen is sharper which is all that matters.
Seriously?

Well ... i on the other hand like i said before, will consider the overall package and not JUST the screen. That said, my main focus point was the MODS. Almost all of the S3's software enhancements are available for S2 (especially that famous Smart Stay).

Then the Powerful Mali GPU is an advantage. I thought this was pretty well known. >_>

Only if you buy second hand, the regular S2 is no longer available new.
You forgot that i always preach about getting a used phone ... inorder to meet the Price/Performance objective :p

Besides, the i9100 is available in General Market, both in Brand New AND in used.

A couples of days ago "Darth Major" was telling me there weren't any in Karachi so yea i believe you. But the situation is different in Lahore.

The i9100G will still have a gaming edge not due to powerful GPU but lower resolution.
No it wont. The difference will be barely a few fps. The GPU in G.Nexus is overclocked, probably to coup with the higher resolution. So i dont think the i9100G will have ANY edge at all. (Not to mention that the "G" variant is even worse package and a stain on S2's name)

So i fail to understand why are you even considering the i9100G here.

It's not better than Galaxy Nexus which is the topic under consideration.
Hey aren't you the same person who criticized G.Nexus for its Pentile display?

You specifically mentioned the RGB screen as an advantage and I was pointing out that its not really an advantage when you are comparing WVGA RGB screen with HD pentile.

Yes I agree the mali GPU is an advantage I should have numbered my post to avoid misunderstanding, I wasnt saying that all of your points are invalid.

See the S2's development and community isnt really an advantage in comparison to galaxy nexus. You listed it as an advantage for S2 and not for galaxy nexus which is implying that S2 has superior custom rom scene which is not true. If anything the real advantage S2 has due to being so popular is the best accessory market for an android phone.
