No need to change your Modem, the problem is with your Line Parameters. Just simply observe the Attenuation which is 40 and it is considered high(close to very Bad). Try changing your DSL Modulation from ADSL2+ to G.Dmt and then share a screen shot in order to check your Line Parameters as well as SNR Margin. And if I'm not wrong you must be on copper. A wise advise to you would be to shift your Line to Fiber (aka ONU) in order to get stable speeds,pings and nearly no disconnections what so ever. But for now do what I have advised and share its Screen Shot in order to see the problem.

I've tried G.dmt mode before, but I can't remember if that also resulted in the same issues. I'll report back if I still face disconnections. Also, the line man said attenuation isn't an issue until it's above 60, is he right or not?

I've been meaning to shift to ONU, but is there any way to keep my current phone number? Or will the number have to be changed?

A ptcl guy came in to me today after hundreds of complaints at helpline and he did something to the wires coming to my house from the post near by . disconnection issue sorted but at night i m only having 150 or 160KBps on direct download. Have they reduced the speed at night timings??? :crying::crying:


OR what if i shift to Fibre Optics, WIll it be Ok coz i do lots of multiplayering as well and i need good ping as well? I heard that Fibre Optics need back up as well from network end during load shedding>>>???? Should i shift to it or not??? Please Help.

No Bro I am usgin Hotspot almost daily. They haven't blocked it. Even today I used it and its running like butter and am downloading videos perfectly alrite on VPNs.

Man I thought they blocked all the VPNs - good to know it's working... I'm downloading it at the moment.. however the main website is blocked by PTA - what bunch of cocksuckers!

Regarding your concern with speed, I haven't noticed any major dips in DL but did notice that I'm usually stuck at around 370KB/s compared to ~ 410KB/s like before.

Skype is still acting like shit, its even worse on the EVO but still better than what it was during Eid holidays (I'm guessing those cock jockeys at PTCL probably messed around with it during holidays to discourage usage).

As far as fiber goes - it's the best thing that happened to me. Please note that you will lose your current landline number and they will issue you a new one, however the connection speed is great, as long as they have good circuit boards at the back end. I can't comment on connectivity during load shedding since my modem is not on a backup. You can confirm this from PTCL directly.

I'd recommend you to contact PTCLCARES via email ([email protected]). Be professional and explain your problem. Believe me, the very next day the guys will be at your house and they'll make sure it's fixed cuz they can't go home without taking care of it. (Once they left my house at 10PM cuz they were making sure the backend issue got resolved).

Guys PTCL increases 2 MB student Package charges to 1550 Rs,and will charge GST on Data also thats is 20 % tax on internet charges,so get ready for 2300+ bill for 2 MB connection ;( ​

Bro i am raedy for a heart attacking PTCL bill for August,they are charging 20% tax on Data(Internet) as well as on Voice,courtesy to Sindh Government who passed a order to charge 20% on internet connection cost more than 1500 Rs,i m seriously thinking to downgrade my package from 4Mb to 1 mb to avoid huge bills and use 3G (Free Office )

ok PTCL Shitty services are totally crazy - i am facing this bullshit problem form past few days- and i absolutely hate PTCL LAND LINE + DSL

my modem ptcl dsl zxdsl 831cii

i have quite recently upgraded my package to 4MB DSL - in MARCH of this year i availed this free 4MB upgrade service back then i had a latest model modem - so i used 4MB dsl as a free service - whenever i use to check my LINE DOWN STREAM RATE it was always on 4607 - upload was liek 5** something

so my last model modem got screwed and fired by HIGH VOLTAGE problem - got this recently using modem as a FREE from PTCL exchange

jab mein iss modem par 1MB use kartaa hooon to complete DOWN STREAM RATE 1096 HAMESHA always show karta hai

lekin now that i have 4MB - i am noticing a big fluctuation ups and down stream whenever light goes off and on

kabhi yeh 3993 show karta hai - kabhi down stream 4096 show karta hai kabhi 4439 ALWYAS CHANGING- stable fix nahi hota jaisa keh mera last one modem huwa kartaa thaa 4607 par hamesha stable fixed

jab bhi modem ko ON / OFF karo to hamesha DOWN STREAM rate and up STREAM change hoo jata hai ??? aisa kaisay ?? aisa keyon ??

in last picture - in ADSL PORTS all of the PORTS were use to be ON - but after reading this THREAD i only checked G.DMT - but still down stream always changes itself

just a few moments ago when light came i checked the settings

the attainable down stream was like 5*** something and Downstream rate was 4609 upstream was 1024 - after 3 minutes MODEM restarted itself and then again settings differs changed

i have noticed that whenever this MODEM settings is on absolute highest settings for a 4MB connection it RESTARTS itself

in MARCH when i got 4MB free services i had this MODEM

No WIFI - without WIFI - this is an absolute piece of performance and stability- i used this modem for 2 YEARS - got blown away by HIGH VOLTAGE - always SHOWED me FIXED Down stream rate and Upstream rate

Yup exactly yes yes - i have also noticed this pathetic malfunction problem in this PTCL MODEM Model SPECIFICALLY - sometimes i feel very low internet speed but when i go and check the MODEM device its INTERNET light is blinking fast

it looks like someone is HACKING wireless all the speed without out even noticing - then i switched OFF my PC - but still INTERNET light blinking - then after all i had to turn OFF/ ON the MODEM

this specific MODEL MODEM is FAULTY all around - i FORGOT to mention this huge problem in my earlier post
