Is there something wrong with Skype or am I the only one?

Using DSL or EVO, my skype calls dont get connected - it doesnt ring and jumps to VM.

Late night it works fine... so I'm guessing it's the net...

Those bastards! always looking for a way to make illegal money... assholes... they've even blocked skype to landline/mobile calling (permanently) almost over a year ago.

OK, I'm also a PTCL user and I'm on a 2MB Package. (Student). My package was also upgraded to 4MB connection few months ago, when they did the promotional upgrading. And referring this page on ptcl, Broadband 4Mbps For All When I checked this page in June's last week, I remember exactly this page mentioned that all packages are upgraded to 4MB until the "PROMOTION ENDS ON JUNE 30, 2014". Since the 4MB package was supposed to be charged at a higher price after June 30, so in order to prevent this, I called PTCL support at 1236 in the last week of June & asked them to downgrade my package to 2MB. I'm back on 2MB package now!

BUT THE PROBLEM IS, ON THE ABOVE PAGE, THEY REMOVED THE "JUNE 30, 2014 PROMOTION EXPIRY DATE" FROM THE ABOVE PAGE!!! This really concerns me:
1). If the promotion is still ON, then why the New Promotion End Date is NOT mentioned on the above page?
2). and If the promotion is already down, then why the above page is NOT removed from the ptcl website?

Anyone who is using an Upgraded Package, can you please tell me if you're still being charged for your LOWER Package?

This has been happening since yesterday.
The internet stops working and the internet icon turns to this. Then after about a minute or two the icon returns to normal and the internet starts working again.

I'm using it in Karachi. Downloading is amazing (Around 960 kb/s on IDM and 870 kb/s on torrents.) There are no frequent disconnections, but, the ping is messed up. I don't really believe that changing from 4 mb to 8 mb messes with ping, but the PTCL wala told me that my high pings were due to connection upgrade. So if you're an online gaming enthusiast, you might want to reconsider.

Hmm I'm gonna game for sure but for now I just wanna know what a the connection setup like? Thru your phone line or something else? I've tweeted necessary in fo to ptcl cares guy and he's saying 'teams will coordinate with you shortly'. I've been bitten by ptcl in the past so I'm extra cautious this time... so far just exploring

The DSL light on the modem is usually stable but the internet connection will disconnect and then reconnect after a couple of minutes. At other times, the DSL light is stable, but the internet light remains off until I restart my modem, and then it connects fine. My connection stats are shown in the screenshot below:

Any idea what could be causing these random disonnections? My modem is the one shown in the picture below:

This modem is at least a couple of years old, so I thought I'd get it replaced with a new one. I talked to the exchange guy, and he said that replacing the router would cost me 2400 rupees. Now I'm on the fence about this. Should I get a new modem from the exchange for 2400 or get a TP-Link TD-W8961ND. Or is there a better modem I should go for? Or is there no need to change modems?

Any help would be appreciated.

PTCL folks are some of the most fucked up pieces of shits I had to deal with. EVER. Complained thrice now, and everytime I get this message saying that my complaint has been closed. Been getting 3-4 mb on my 8 mb connection for a week now, and they cant work this out. Horrible service.

Thats weird that he asked for 2400 to get it replaced. Usually they ask for 1500 if the router is damaged. I replaced mine without paying a penny and its wifi antennae was broken and the power button didnt work right. Though the guy who fixes my speed problems was accompanying me.

if u want to change ur modem go for other than ptcl as i ve changed 4 ptcl modems all are same and same in range only appearance is difference else same signal strength.
