I'm not the one saying these are the top three. These three are just the ones that are the most prominent in all the nominations. Hence, they're the ones considered to be the big three. But even still, that's not enough to consider these three to be the top three. 'Cause these are all subjective opinions for a subjective award. The most we can do is be fair about it and play the games that are most prominent in the nominations.

You are implying that i should wait for all the nominations that is December and then pick the most prominent in them and then play them. I am sorry i can't do that. I play games when they release.

And still if i go by your logic and look for the prominent ones, "Super Mario 3D World" and "The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds" are also the prominent ones, well as a matter of fact even prominent than Infinite. Have you played them?

If the outcome was the same after that criteria was met he'd probably blame "platform fanboys" as the culprit. There is no end to that Abuses will lead to baning unless TLoU wins GoTY so why bother?

I'll tell you this though, the entire Team PG didn't even vote. Only a handful of people did.

You do realize that there can never be an actual Game of The Year, right? People have opinions, opinions can vary. GoTY awards are given out by the collective summation of multiple people's opinions. There will always be arguments saying contrary to the GoTY selection, and they will be just as justified as the GoTY selection. Some people will believe Gone Home is the real GoTY, others The Sanely Parable, or GTA V, or Super Mario 3D World, or The Legend of Zelda: ALBW, etc.

You talk about taking the GoTY award seriously but you don't even play all the games that come out in the year. So how can you tell which one was the best amongst them and then cast your vote? You contradict yourself with your own logic.

The "Game of The Year" awards aren't anything special. They're just the video game industry's and game journalism's clumsy attempts to mimic the movie and music industry (as if those awards aren't the same farce). This copycat-ing of popular media trends is very juvenile. I'm boggled at how much people believe that this shit is legit and law, and that somehow if their favorite game doesn't win, it'll mar the experience that they had with it. Stop taking something, so subjective, so seriously. You look silly.

And correct me if I'm wrong, haven't you only played Infinite from the 3 games including the runner ups? So for you Infinite becomes GoTY and all this becomes biased.

I have the right to post my opinions don't I? It's not like I came in here complaining about the awards given out. I'm sure Bioshock: Infinite was a great game. I just came in here, and spoke my mind. Then someone quoted me and I replied, then I replied, then they replied, etc. I'm not hovering this thread unnecessarily, I'm just replying.

Besides, what do you want me to do? Most of the threads and sections have been dead anyway.

Yes it would have. Trust me, we did the alternate calculations by removing the people who hadn't played all 3 and the results were the same. infinite was still GOTY and TLOU was 2nd with GTA on 3rd.

First of all, who says there has to be 'Top 3' nominations? Why is it okay to do ignore Super Mario 3D World? Why aren't you making it necessary for the people to have played that game as well before voting? This kind of bias isn't gonna strengthen your argument, or Raptoria's for that matter.

To answer your question, no. Members voluntarily opted out of the voting if they felt they hadn't played enough games this year to keep things fair. It may come as a shock to you, but the odds were in TLoU's favor.

You're right. It's not fair, and I agree that other notable games such as Super Mario World should have been considered. But I believe people in this thread, myself included, are using the 'top 3 nominations' supposition because the first post doesn't show that games other than Infinite, GTAV and TLoU were even considered. We, or at least I have the impression that almost all of Team PG only considers these three games to be worthy of GoTY.

Not even considered? How? Not every category is dominated by these 3 games only. Other games won where it was appropriate and if it had enough votes.

Whichever game got the most votes are listed there. Obviously, there was a third and fourth runner up as well.
