If those who pre-ordered already get to play it on Steam, then why cancel? I get it they skipped steam, but it's "CAPITALISM" guys (Y)

A month before release the publishers have added Denuvo and signed an exclusivity deal with Epic to remove the game from Steam. The game is suddenly at the top of the Best Sellers on Steam. Shady practices, what else?

Pre-ordering the Gold Edition was already a gamble on my part since we have no details on the DLC/expansions and when they are supposed to come out but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. What are the chances the Season pass will even be worth it now?

[h=1]Valve calls exclusive Metro Exodus deal with Epic ‘unfair’ to Steam customers[/h]

[h=2]Steam users express displeasure over another PC game ‘exclusive’[/h]

Earlier today, Deep Silver and Epic Games announced that the PC version of 4A Games’Metro Exodus will, after today, be sold exclusively on the Epic Games Store and not on Steam. There are important caveats to that exclusivity: Existing pre-orders through Steam, which have been available for months, will be honored; physical copies will include Steam keys; and the deal is exclusive for one year.
Still, Valve calls the decision to pull Metro Exodus sales from Steam in favor of Epic’s digital store “unfair.” In a statement posted to the game’s Steam store page, Valve alerted potential buyers about the exclusivity arrangement and weighed in on what it means for its customers:
Later today, sales of Metro Exodus will be discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store.
The developer and publisher have assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.
We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.
Meanwhile, Deep Silver attempted to calm concerns about the game’s content and how Steam customers will be able to access it in an FAQ also posted to Metro Exodus’ Steam store page. Steam customers will still be able to purchase stand-alone DLC for Metro Exodus on the platform, the publisher said, and no existing content or future DLC will be exclusive to Epic’s store. “All future title updates, patches, and free and premium DLC will be released simultaneously across both versions,” Deep Silver said.
We reached out to Valve for comment on what it considers “unfair” about the Metro Exodusexclusivity deal and will update when the company responds. In the meantime, many Steam customers are voicing their displeasure over Deep Silver’s arrangement with Epic Games via the Metro Exodus FAQ’s comments section.

I think its super nice - valves monopoly has some competition and they will hopefully start reacting to what people want a bit more...competition is good
Yeah but what about installing ten different launchers. People are so annoyed with Uplay and Origin and the numbers just keep increasing. Discord has a store too now and then there is Gog. Maybe developers should release their games on all platforms and dont make it exclusive to one :|

Ofcourse its not ideal. I think we are in a place where we have 4,5 major launchers (I will consider seeing "running a launcher as part of launching the game" ) which is honestly a super bad solution - but I dont think that negates my point of valve having proper competition. I also think epic doing it is going to be better, just because of the number of games which are made on epic engine and the substantially incentive developers are getting on the epic store.

I am not talking about bad implementation of store fronts, nor about platform exclusivity.
I am just happy valve is getting some push back.

Also why I think consoles are an excellent option :)

Fun part is finding out people in this thread literally have no idea what competition and monopoly means lol

Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.
The cross gen era really made people think 60fps would be a new standard lol

Welp, done with Hellblade 2. Thoroughly disappointed. Such a nothing burger after the unique experience of the first game.

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
