This is just borderline sad now.

Deep Silver (game's publisher) is still putting out game trailers and news on Steam even though the game's not coming out on it anymore lol

https://steamcommunity.com/games/412020/announcements/detail/1728722175258235230
aaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha

but but but...Steam is so unfair. Letting us get all those pre orders and still letting us advertise after we pulled our game from their store at our own will. Evil, they are.

So glad I refunded this.

@Chandoo

Regional prices are being implemented for more countries now. Metro Exodus is $25 in Pakistan. Also worth pointing out is that Epic defers payment processing tax to the consumer so the final price will be around $30 for the consumer.

This is how they are able to undercut the industry standard 30% fees, by shifting the charges towards the customer which Steam does not lol

So, using this as a use case example, Pakistani customers will be paying $10 more for the same game on Epic's store compared to Steam. Kinda shitty if you ask me, especially considering that's the only way you can get this game if you hadn't already pre ordered.

That's unfortunate and shitty for regional pricing.

Also in this particular case back when I pre ordered with the US dollar rate the standard edition would be Rs. 2,460 on Steam. If anyone buys the game on Epic store the cost would be Rs. 4,170 :p

The crazy train continues:

Metro Dev Says Next Game Will Skip PC if Boycotts Continue
“To this I can answer that in a pinch, if at all all the PC players announce a boycott of the Metro, then the next Metro, if it does, is definitely not on the PC. Better or worse, decide for yourself."
https://gamerant.com/metro-sequel-pc-boycott/

And 4A Games's official communication is putting the blame solely on the publishers.

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sqq1h9

The recent decision to move Metro Exodus from Steam to the Epic Game Store was made by Koch Media / Deep Silver alone.

The recent comments made by a member of the 4A Games development team do not reflect Deep Silver’s or 4A Games’ view on the future of the franchise. They do reflect the hurt and disappointment of a passionate individual who has seen what was previously nothing but positive goodwill towards his work turn to controversy due to a business decision he had no control over. We respectfully ask that any and all valid feedback over this decision is directed at Koch Media / Deep Silver, and not the developers at 4A Games.

The future release strategy of the Metro series lies with Koch Media / Deep Silver. Our decision to partner with Epic Games was based on the goal of investing in the future of the series and our development partner at 4A Games. We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans.

If this is indeed true, then what makes him think that console gamers would unanimously love such jerks? I was interested in Exodus on PS4 but now I'm unsure.

The average console buyer is much less forgiving. On top of that, none of this directly affects them. Lets say 80% of people buy from Gamestop, and few weeks before launch Walmart pays royalties for an exclusivity deal and no other retailer is allowed to sell physical copies. Just maybe, maybe then you'll see console gamers taking a stance.

This is a poorly managed business decision that will backfire for sure. And people who believe this is competition and evil Steam needs to be defeated need to learn and familiarize themselves with the fundamentals:

Console gamers *do* take a stand, which is why GameStop is tanking rapidly and in the red for the last couple of years. It's extremely surprising GameStop hasn't filed for bankruptcy or has been sold off to someone by now.

Its surprising because people still shop there. Gamestop has been shit for a long long long time.

Either way, developer would threaten to not release on PC but not consoles. I think that is self explanatory. Its a "saftey" net because the average joe doesn't pay much attention.

I've personally switched to E-Starland for console stuff.

www.estarland.com

It's not a chain, they do online shopping but only have one huge physical warehouse location which fortunately is 10 minutes from where I live. They offer *much* better trade prices than GS (in some cases DOUBLE of GS)* and have a huge variety of stuff from pretty much the start of gaming as we know it to now.

* for example, Tales of Vesperia definitive edition. Gamestop gives you $15 trade credit, E-Starland gave me $30 store credit. (I won a free copy in a raffle).

It's true that most people will only react if something important or relevant to them is at stake like Steam is for PC gamers. Console users are not losing anything in the case of Exodus but one can still have a principled objection to greedy corporate practices, as many have when it comes to giants like EA and Ubisoft. This is an issue across the gaming industry and is not platform specific as publishing giants have other ways to feed their greed on consoles. So, I think there needs to be solidarity among gamers in opposition to those who blatantly disregard consumer interest over their short-term corporate interests. Unfortunately, quality developers like 4A games take the hit as collateral (the developer guy quoted above isn't helping either; I'm sure nobody's reasonably undermining his efforts in making the game by criticising the publisher disappointing decision.).

^ The nightmare trailer was epic. Anything around 85 would be a great score but I really hope this is somewhere in between 88-90 (although unlikely) just because there are not many developers left that make these kind of great single player story based games

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they go back on their word about ensuring the Steam version gets all patches/DLC day 1.

Welp, done with Hellblade 2. Thoroughly disappointed. Such a nothing burger after the unique experience of the first game.

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

  • L LegacyGamerGuy:
Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.
