I think they are polishing some of the heroes before releasing Dire Tide along with it. My second guess would be to save it for Christmas instead.

Update: Ok seriously there is no Diretide this year. Check the link for confirmation.

Diretide is a Dota 2 event. It began on October 30th 2012. Valve will restart this event in 2014, instead of 2013. Due to the fact that Dota 2 came out of the beta-test, Valve want to make it better for players, instead of doing events. Diretide will be held on 27th October 2014

And I have been on reddit all day and all night.. No sign of the wretched event. I am very disappoint.

I have to say, I am definitely taking my time to wrap my head around the list of new changes to the game. The tweaks that each hero and item have gotten completely changes the way the game is played now!

For starters, BLINK DAGGER PUDGE!! Considering how I always thought there was good reason behind this (how can all that fat meat instantly blink to a location so quickly?!), I haven't really seen it as a major detriment to some of the matches. Then again, Blink > "FRESH MEAT!!!!" isn't exactly something I would want to see in ANY game where Pudge is in the enemy team. Warding is more crucial than ever now, since dewarding nets you cash as well. I hate the new Tango/Potion/Clarity system where you cant share and have to manually apply it. It makes it tedious in battle, where you have to drop everything you're doing just because you need to heal your carry's ass (at least for the first 10 minutes of the game). I have my issues with Lothar's Edge/Shadow Blade, since the new 28-sec cooldown timer makes it very risky to use during ganks and general movement. While it does ensure that annoying characters like Furion, Sniper and Drow need more time to escape, it does hurt making it on a Crystal Maiden now.

Some heroes that I would recommend as playing now are Slardar, Venomancer, Broodmother, Bristleback and Doom, among others. These heroes have seen changes that either make them more effective in battle (Slardar/Bristle), or highly annoying (Brood/Veno) and fearsome (Doom). Veno's new ability to have his Plague Wards get his passive ability may be a little imba, but Doom's Doom laugh1 now cancels out passives like Greater Bash and stuff.
