I disagree. I think they made the character seem unique while still retaining some of the undead badass-ery of his WC3 counterpart. And let's not forget, he's voiced by TJ ramini, the same guy who delivered an excellent performance on Timbersaw's VA.pfftt... he looks like a little Abuses will lead to ban compared to the almighty Arthas in dota 1.... I was really hoping that they try to keep the core design of Abbadon from dota 1... seems like they only took the horse seriously

it wasn't really "undead badassery"... the only badassery there was from Arthas and they didn't incorporate that into the new design.... anyone can wear a black cloack on a skeletal horse and look like a badass....
you look at Crystal Maiden... she is just like a more visually upgraded version of the old one... i was hoping something along those lines with Abaddon

^^ They couldn't have made someone like Arthas because it would border on copyright infringement even if they used a different name for him and the sword. Valve are in a rather unique position because they have to port heroes from dota 1 to dota 2 without changing the foundations of the character and also making sure it has as little resemblance to a warcraft 3 character as possible. Abaddon is supposed to be a shrouded undead knight on a skeletal horse, and they nailed that part. Except for the voice acting, they really can't do much without changing the character entirely.
Hey striker, my pings to SEA have shot up to 300ms, and so have those of some PTCL friends of mine. After speaking with eclub, I sent an email Nayatels way, and this is what they had to say:
There has been no change in routing from our side as is clear from the traceroute - the latency increases on the last hop. The reason for "Request Timed Out" could be that ICMP traffic is blocked on that hop: this has no effect on data traffic. Anyway, I think you should observe this for a day or two and if the situation does not improve we can take this up with our upstream provider.
Any idea if this issue will be resolved?

Load balancing (by redirecting routes from some other node while the tracert remains the same) from PTCL's end, don't know if intentional or automatic. I wish someone had some sort of contacts in PTCL with regards to routing etc.
Pass the following to eclub, the timing out hop is the equinix one. Ask if they from their end can liaison with equinix to sort this mess out.
p.s this definitely looks like an issue from equinix, I just checked and their backroute is not direct with PTCL. From what I can see in the trace it is coming in via US/EU. This should be an easy fix from equinix's side... if only someone can get them to do it.

hes the only real counter to doom since forever ... but to counter that axe's ult goes through abadon ultimate or any ultimate if below that hp threshold
but he is a tank. with a few strength items he should never be below the axe's ulti's threshold. Also axe's ulti scales very badly. It should have been percentage. Playing it would have been more fun then.
axe ultimate maxed out is 625 flat dmg goes through anything no armor or magical just pure hp ...so that becomes uncounterable by anything other then raw hp then you dont have armor or magic reduction to save you from counter helix or the rest of the team which will be based on physical dmg or either nukes ... anyways axe's ultimate goes through abadon when he is using his ultimate that was the question not how axe should take abadon out 1v1 (which he can provided abadon comes with creeps )
to put into perspective why percentage gain is not a good thing for axe is because we already have a similar spell called reapers scyth of necrolyte which takes out based on your missing hp in other words you can kill someone if there on half hp (provided no magical dmg reduction items such as hood or pipe is present)
an example to show the actual power of axe's ultimate will be comparing it to lina or lions nukes which do inherently 25% less damage due to inherent hero magic reduciton ...not counting viper's skin, pudge, phantom lancer and many others hell bristal back completely makes there ulti into a joke with 40% reduction outright ...do the math 1025 for lion and 1250 for lina with scepter upgrades ..now reduce those amounts by 40% ... now reduce the amount further by atleast more then 25% since someone will get a pipe or bristle will have hood which is 30% diminishing ... now thats a very small amount of damage is it not ?
now compare it to flat 625 damage no bullshit involved ...wont matter if your in bkb, repel or abadon ultimate your going to kill him at 625 hp or anything less then that ... an abadon at lvl 25 has 2,198 hp ...lets make it aprox 2500 if he has some bracers thats your tank class which you can kill at his one third aprox hp ... an average drow, sniper or even troll has roughly 1600 - 1800 hp since they go for damage items ...thats a very good and easy kill for axe ...and to top it off after aghanim you gain 6 sec cooldown ...thats a joke (oh you get 25% movement speed for all your nearby allies too)
in short dont go after axe just never go near him, kite him and etc but not near his ult range when your near his culling dmg

finally someone realizes the shield plus hp combo is insane and please use abadon as a support no semi carry no carry just plain support plus off tank nothing else suits him its dum to play him otherwise
i've actually always appreciated his support carry ability.... he's a great chaser, and can tower dive pretty well with the Shield... but yes, you're right in the regard that he's primarily a support
just played with 2 abadons both thought they were carry inspite of a built sf and a furion to top ...abadons thinking they are carry always shield themselves and use lvl 1 to dmg not to heal anyone thinking themselves more valuable. they use there ulti offensively (not a bad thing but no point) and since abadon has low farming capability due to the mana cost of shield to be spammed they dont get enough farm and eventually cant even carry ...spending 90% time in jungle and then not delivering on the carry ability... while the actual carries have to play entire game 4v5 or worse if they are farm heavy carries
played with a carry abadon today. He sure proved it that it is possible. it was pretty much a 4v4. their naix left and our bane left soon after. Also our clinkz played solo all game and he didn't have any idea what he was doing. so 3v4 basically. He solved the farming issue with the bf and kept getting kills by playing very aggressive. he is also very good at 1v1 with pudge. especially when rot starts to heal him. here is the match.

axe doesn't have enough mana regen to spend 200 mana every 6 seconds, probably thats why people hesitate to go for a scepter with axe. I am still to see a late game successful axe. mostly kiting takes care of him.
one of the primary reasons why so many good players make Arcane Boots on him.... That and Scepter ensure that you can atleast take down 2-3 supports before running out of mana
