Really digging it... but advanced level is too damn hard... its like someone dropped oil on the road

Trust me, once you get used to the Advanced setting, the game just comes alive. Hang in there, the gameplay is way more rewarding without the assists off. On Advanced you still get ABS, but everything else is turned off.

But........

isnt this kinda case with nearly all racing games..i remember NFS having this and i also felt it a lil in gt5

I don't get why they have to fuck with the physics for the drift modes. PGR2 had a bad-ass cone challenge thingy in which you had to drift like mad but they didn't change the gameplay for it.

This is the only negative I can find in the game.

Oh yeah, and it does look phenominal.

Amazing game. I can't put down controller until I get platinum in gymkhana modes. Very fun and addicting.

I had zero interest in this game until I randomly tried it out yesterday. The game looks breathtaking, the presentation is top notch but the gameplay.....I've got mixed feelings, I was expecting something similar to Shift but this is different, it actually kinda reminds me of Motorstorm. I don't know what settings I was playing on but it was pretty clear the game wasn't going to be forgiving of mistakes, the thing that makes it bearable over other sims though is the ability to correct your mistakes sands of time style.

I am intrigued, there is enough content in the game to warrant a purchase but I don't want to get it if you're just going to get bored by it in a few days like every other game Bhad Mohfo

How dare you! How dare you insinuate that this most marvelous, super stupendous piece of British software is anything like that crap Sony is touting as a racing game? I have played Motorstorm, good sir, and calling it utter shite would be an upgrade to where it stands at the moment in my eyes.

You broke my heart, Omy, you broke my heart. I don't know if I'll ever be able to recover from this Freddo-level backstab.

And about me getting bored? Well, I gotta be honest, I do get bored very quickly. And now that you've mentioned it I don't think I've ever put a game back into my PS3 once it's come out.

I think DiRT 3 would be different because I love the game. It has a lot of content. And if the Codies keep on releasing DLC rally tracks (the Monte Carlo 8 stage rally is confirmed) and if there is a little community support here on PG I see no reason for me to get bored of it too quick.

I just wanted to point out that my combined playtime for CMR 04 and 05 would probably have been 200 hours+. I used to be a hardcore racing game fan.

And come on, it's surely a better investment than Brink!

Ok, so i played a few laps of Rally time trial in Kenya on advanced (ABS also off) & manual transmission with the PS3 sixaxis gamepad, the handlin' definitely is more sensitive this time & it feels better this way imo, keeps you on your toes, punishes you seriously for mistakes. This is more hardcore than Dirt 2 for sure!

Graphics wise the lighting in this game is really impressive, good decal/particle system as well.

Will start the tour mode later some time as i gotta finish RE 4 first of all. (sm1)

LOL I was just pointing out what I saw good sir, the thing that reminded me of motorstorm was the fact that the cars refused to turn in that as well. That's just about it, if I knew such a mega rant would ensue, I'd have elaborated sooner.
And other people going on about track racing, rally racing blah blah I don't play many racing games, heck I'm not even a car enthusiast, not going to be pretend that I am either. At the end of the day, I really do not care about anything beyond whether it's fun to play or not. So please, pretty please with two cherries on top, reserve your judgement for someone else.

Played the game a bit.The graphics are generally the same as Dirt 2 with slight improvements (xbox 360).The physics have been improved,the game can get a bit hard even in the intermediate settings.Uploading replays to the youtube feature is good.Adding split screen is a very great feature!

Where is the love for water splashes in DiRT 3 ? DiRT 2 had atleast one water splash on almost all tracks.

I hate the fact that I can't redeem my VIP code, can't play online without it. Saw Hitman/Alienware playing it yesterday as well, but alas we could't play against each other.

I am sad to admit that I had to go to the intermediate setting for the Gymkhana and drift events.

Guys iam a big fan of Dirt, guess what, this stupid game is facing some problems with Dx11 cards,
I have set the graphics to maximum, the graphics are simply amazing, but, the problem which everyone having a dx11 card will face is a freeze issue during loading screen or autosave. Iam tired of this.
