[h=1]‘Daredevil’ Season 2: First Look at New Costume[/h]

Since Daredevil launched on Netflix in early April, the series has taken over the conversation about Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, overshadowing this year’s Marvel Studios offerings in the minds of fans and critics alike. The grounded approach to Marvel’s universe, along with the mature themes and focus on character development, resonated with fans in unexpected ways.
It wasn’t long before a second season of Daredevil was announced (only eleven days after the premiere), with Marvel shifting their Netflix plans to give audiences more of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. The second season will see the introduction of The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) to the MCU, the brutal vigilante who would rather kill criminals than send them to prison. Despite sharing the common goal of cleaning up Hell’s Kitchen, it won’t be long before the two characters come to blows over their differences.

In preparation for the big fight, it appears that Matt Murdock will be donning an updated version of his costume. The official Daredevil twitter account tweeted out our first look at the costume, which you can see below. At first glance, the costume appears largely similar to the one debuted at the end of the first season. However, a closer look shows faceplate is now black instead of red and there appears to be more black added to the costume overall.

Admittedly, the lighting in the teaser image as well as the positioning of the suit makes it hard to make out the finer details. A second photo has since surfaced, featuring what looks to be test footage of the new costume. The authenticity of the photo has yet to be confirmed, but it appears to be in line with the teaser image. Check it out below:

The costume itself seems to have more black outlining than in the first season. The biggest change, as we mentioned, is the black faceplate. The change makes for a nice homage to Matt’s original costume and will likely help increase his intimidation factor by keeping his eyes in the shadows. Comic fans will likely make the connection between this costume and the armored black and red suit the character donned in the ’90s era.

In the first season of the show, Daredevil’s costume was created by Melvin Potter (Matt Gerald) in his workshop. Melvin was employed by Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) at the time, crafting armored suits for the villain in exchange for the safety of a woman named Betsy Beatty. By working with Daredevil on the suit, he risked both her safety and his own.

It’s possible that Melvin worked with Daredevil to make upgrades to the suit. However, a recent teaser image makes the idea a little less likely. Melvin Potter is also known as Gladiator in the comics, a villain who wields circular saws and has battled Daredevil on numerous occasions. If the teaser indicates his transformation into a villain, Daredevil might need to find a new ally to help him fix his costume.
Daredevil season 1 is currently available on Netflix. Jessica Jones premieres in Fall 2015, followed by Luke Cage and Daredevil season 2 in 2016. Season 3 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 9:00 PM ET on ABC. Agent Carter will air season 2 in early 2016.

[h=1]Daredevil: Punisher Fans Will Be ‘Blown Away’ by Jon Bernthal’s Take[/h]

One of the next big names from the annals of the Marvel Comics Universe that will come to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be The Punisher, when Daredevil returns to Netflix for its second season in 2016. Fans are anxiously waiting to see how their favorite vigilante, Frank Castle (played now by The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal), will turn out; including, how true he will be to the most beloved comic versions of Castle.
The original Punisher debuted in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #129 as a rather one-dimensional assassin. In fact, that was his original name, The Assassin, but the creative teams wanted to turn him to the good side and use the character more down the road, so he got a better name. Then you have the original mini-series and run of the 1980s and ’90s; this is the Frank Castle that a lot of fans grew up on, the steely eyed hardened Vietnam war vet who ripped (sometimes literally) through every imaginable organization, villain and even hero that Marvel could imagine.

IGN recently caught up with Marvel Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada, at the premiere of the new Marvel Comics Netflix series Jessica Jones and questioned him about the possibility of The Punisher getting his own series after his appearance in the upcoming second season of the Daredevil series. Quesada had the following to offer:
“I think we’d love to see something happen, but its way too soon to tell and we don’t necessarily like to discuss which metrics we use to decide these things. But what I can tell you is that anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal’s take on Frank Castle. He is…its one of those cases where its the character from the pages come to life.”
Anyone who has spent a long time reading comic books may be questioning the ambiguity of that statement from Queseda. After all, to say that a character is coming to life right off the pages of the comics is rather vague. You can take almost any character that has been around for a few decades, much less one like The Punisher, who debuted way back in 1974, and find multiple variations and takes on the character, due to creative teams needing to keep the stories fresh over the years. No one is going to pitch a fit about getting a true to the comics version of The Punisher, but which one should it be?

Queseda himself edited a fresh new take on the Marvel Comics Universe in the late 1990s called Marvel Knights. This series, under Queseda’s direction, resurrected The Punisher as a sort of demon hunter with a funky glowing symbol on his forehead, an idea that was short lived. The Marvel Knights imprint was used by Garth Ennis to revive Frank Castle once more in 2000-01 for a 12-issue miniseries. This lead to an ongoing series and eventually a new era under the Max imprint, boasting more realistic and gritty art and storytelling. Comic books had changed and now one of the more brutal and imposing anti-heroes to ever grace the pages of Marvel Comics had caught-up to the fold.
This appears to be where Jon Bernthal is taking his inspiration. This era of The Punisher spawned yet another film in 2004, starring Thomas Jane as Frank Castle, that was well-meaning, but still fell a bit short for many fans. Although Jane did spark some serious fan interest when he financed his own Punisher short film in 2012, titled Dirty Laundry, to showcase for the fans at San Diego Comic Con. The last feature film version of The Punisher came in the ultra-violent Punisher: War Zone back in 2008. The imposing Ray Stevenson portrayed a dark and certainly violent version of Frank Castle, very akin to the 1990s comic book of the same name.
Whichever version of The Punisher fans are dished in the second season of Daredevil, it has to be one that we can take seriously if he is going to fit inside the confines of the series and the new Marvel Universe, so the Ennis/Max-era Frank Castle is the most likely way to go.

Daredevil Season 1 and Jessica Jones Season 1 are now available on Netflix. Luke Cage Season 1 and Daredevil Season 2 (a.k.a. Daredevil V Punisher) will premiere on Netflix in 2016. Iron Fist and The Defenders will arrive sometime thereafter.

Daredevil Season 2 Images & Details: Matt Murdock vs. Frank Castle [Updated]

Season 1 of Netflix’s Daredevil series pitted the titular superhero against his arch-nemesis, Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. Kingpin). The pairing was an obvious choice given their long history in the Marvel comics upon which the show was based, but for season 2 the show is expanding beyond Fisk to introduce a new challenge for Matt Murdock.
The show’s depiction of Fisk was a little more nuanced than in the comic books, portraying him as a flawed individual who justified his violent misdeeds as the means to an end goal of cleaning up Hell’s Kitchen. Fisk may be out of the picture for season 2, but in his place will be someone else who seems intent on cleaning up Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary: Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher.

EW talked to showrunner Doug Petrie about how they will be handling The Punisher’s appearance in season 2. According to Petrie, who took over showrunner duties for the new season along with Marco Ramirez, their portrayal of The Punisher is very much rooted in the current national dialogue about gun violence:
“Taking lethal justice into your own hands is in America in 2015 is tricky s—t. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If you’ve got a gun and you’re not the police you’re going to incite strong feelings. We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think.”
Scans from EW‘s article recently showed up on Twitter, giving fans a first look at The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal as The Punisher as well as G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘s Elodie Yung as Elektra. Now that EW has posted their article online, fans can get an even clearer picture of Bernthal as Frank Castle. The article also features a picture of Matt Murdock getting a little bit closer with Karen (Deborah Ann Woll), who returns from season 1.
UPDATE: EW has also posted a higher-res look at Yung as Elektra, while Netflix has debuted additional images from Daredevil season 2. Check them all out, below:

The image of Matt Murdock and Karen getting a bit intimate is significant, as it teases the possibility of a love triangle for season 2 once Elektra shows up. Viewers of season 1 will remember that Elektra was briefly teased as a past girlfriend of Murdock’s, and according to Petrie, she will appear in season 2 as “the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have.” Petrie added:
“She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”
It’s fair to say that there will be both sparks and bullets flying when Daredevil season 2 hits sometime in 2016.

Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Luke Cage season 1 and Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced.

Nice. Elektra <3

It looks like Matt, and Karen will have romance. :/
And with addition of Elektra, now it will be a love triangle. One thing i liked about season 1 was, it didn't have much romance. I hope it doesn't focus on the romance aspect.

My guess is he gets back with his ex, or finds a new girl.

Btw, all season 2 episodes of Daredevil have been finished filming. I think season 2 will hit netflix in April, like Season 1 did. :D

Did they change the costume from the last episode of S1? This costume looks really terrible, and just awkward. Marvel needs to make costume from the person who made the Green Arrow's costume, and rest of the Arrow cast members costumes. A costume should look bad ass, this is just....

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2 Premiering in March 2016?[/h]

Going into the premiere of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix, many superhero fans wondered whether The Man Without Fear would finally get a proper screen adaptation. After all, 2003’s theatrical Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck in the titular role was seen as a highly divisive effort at best and a downright clunker at worst. It’s telling that it took over a decade for the character to be resurrected on-screen, but thankfully, Marvel did indeed fix the mistakes made previously. In fact, Daredevil season 1 has been hailed as perhaps the best new series of 2015, and a game changer for comic book TV shows across the board.
Of course, when a show does that well, the natural follow-up question is “When do we get more of this?” While a second season of Daredevil has been officially confirmed for quite some time now, Netflix hasn’t yet seen fit to announce a premiere date for the Hell’s Kitchen-set drama’s return. Daredevil season 1 debuted in April of 2015, so many logically assumed that season 2 would premiere in April of 2016. Well, in news likely to delight more than a few Matt Murdock devotees, it looks like Daredevil season 2 may instead be coming a month earlier than that.

In the 2016 preview issue of EW, the magazine lists Daredevil season 2 as premiering on Netflix in March. While that’s only one source — and an unofficial one at that — EW isn’t some fly-by-night gossip rag, they’re a trusted industry news source. It’s hard to believe that they would print that Daredevil was returning in March without obtaining some type of confirmation from a person privy to Netflix’s plans for the series.
While one month isn’t that gigantic of a leap backward in the grand scheme, it’s still a nice treat for Marvel fans as the world prepares to transition into 2016. Superhero lovers have a ton to look forward to next year, from big-screen juggernauts like Captain America: Civil War and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, to exciting new film properties like Doctor Strange and Suicide Squad, all the way to the solo Netflix debut of Luke Cage. The return of Daredevil amounts to the delicious icing on a tasty comic book-based cake — especially when you consider Daredevil isn’t coming back alone. Wilson Fisk may be behind bars, but Matt may long for his old nemesis after tangling with The Punisher. One thing’s for sure, Hell’s Kitchen better brace itself for the carnage to come.
Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Luke Cage season 1 and Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced.

[h=1]REPORT: "Daredevil" Season 2 to Debut Same Day as "Batman v Superman"[/h]

The Marvel vs. DC war may be waged on live-action platforms this spring. According to an unconfirmed report published earlier today by ComicBook.com, Marvel Television's "Daredevil" season two will debut March 25 on Netflix -- the same day as the theatrical release date of Warner Bros.' DC Comics-based "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." When reached by CBR News, Marvel TV declined comment, and Netflix stated that a release date hasn't yet been announced, only confirming that the new season will premiere at some point in March.

If the March 25 "Daredevil" date happens, it won't be the first time "Batman v Superman" has been involved in potential competition with Marvel fare. Originally, the film was to open against Marvel Studios' "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6, before being shifted a few weeks earlier, to March 25.

Bad decision. It should have been early March....

manigamer Yup! I remember when Daredevil S1 came out, it had all the hype, and attention was towards it. With BVS coming out, which has TONS of hype, no one would bother to talk about Daredevil S2, even if it is epic. Logical choice would have been early march release. Marvel is really shit at marketing their products. :p
