[h=1]Daredevil Season 2 Gets a Teaser Trailer, Poster & Premiere Date[/h]

Season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil will premiere in a few months on Netflix, building on the success of season 1 and introducing more… unique residents of Hell’s Kitchen to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the process. Daredevil season 2 will pit Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in a battle of ideologies – and, in all likelihood, fists – with the vigilante Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). With Daredevil season 2, Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War, and WB/DC’s own Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice all arriving in 2016, superheroes are going to be busier fighting one another more than anything this year, on the big screen and small screen alike.
However, despite rumors this week that Daredevil season 2 and Batman V Superman would be going head to head themselves, we can now confirm that the two projects will not debut on the same day in Netflix and theaters, respectively. The Man Without Fear will instead return a week before the Bat of Gotham and Man of Steel go to war, as revealed in the above Daredevil season 2 announcement (read: teaser) trailer.

Here is the official synopsis for Daredevil season 2, teasing both Matt’s battle with The Punisher and the addition of Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung):
Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.
Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
You can check out the Daredevil season 2 poster, below:

The Daredevil season 2 announcement trailer contains no actual footage from the new season, instead recapping key events from season 1 (the accident that blinded Matt as a child, his encounter with the Kingpin, and so forth) through a series of memorable snapshots from season 1 – recreated as painted church ceiling panels done in the style of the Sistine Chapel. Matt’s spiritual crisis was a central issue during Daredevil season 1 (and always was in Daredevil comic book stories before then) – so it makes sense for that them to be just as important in season 2, as The Punisher’s actions and behavior force Matt to determine just where he draws the line as a vigilante himself (as indicated by the new teaser).
What little Daredevil season 2 footage that has been revealed through different Comic-Con events has also emphasized the conflict between Matt and Frank Castle, though this fresh announcement trailer also provides a reminder that Matt’s martial arts teacher Stick (Scott Glenn) and in turn the mysterious organization he works for, is another plot thread that will be picked up in season 2. Meanwhile, the line about Matt facing a “life-altering choice” in season 2 provides good reason to start worrying about what might happen to his loved ones – Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) – when Punisher makes his way into town.
That’s a lot of meaty narrative substance for Daredevil season 2 to explore, boding all the better for the next addition the Netflix corner of the MCU. Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 both set the bar high for Marvel’s Netflix series, but the addition of Punisher reads as a smart way for the former to feasibly up the ante with regard to the story stakes, personal drama, and super-vigilante action… while at the same time even improving on certain aspects of its initial run in season 2.

Daredevil
season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2 Producer Calls John Bernthal’s Punisher ‘Extraordinarily Memorable’[/h]

By the time the credits rolled on the final episode of Daredevil season 1, Hell’s Kitchen had seemingly found a savior in the form of blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). The visually challenged litigator had finally donned his iconic red suit and took to the streets to dish out justice, but with season 2 on the way, it seems he still has trouble coping with the word “hero.” His existential crisis will only be compounded by the arrival of The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), a vigilante who does not share his sense of restraint.
Next to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Bernthal’s Punisher has become arguably the most highly anticipated superhero debut of the next year. He’s an iconic character with a lengthy cinematic resume, but he has never been truly done the justice (pun very much intended) he deserves. If Jeph Loeb — Marvel TV Executive VP — is to be believed, The Punisher’s time to shine has finally come.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Loeb confidently declared that Bernthal had crafted a dark and faithful version of Frank Castle that will most certainly leave an impression upon audiences:
“Jon Bernthal has succeeded in his quest…His Punisher is extraordinarily memorable, in every way.”

That’s high praise when one considers that The Punisher is actually one of the most often attempted comic book characters on the big screen. By shifting The Punisher away from the limelight and into the status of a pseudo-antagonist, Marvel can delve into the darker elements of the character because he does not necessarily need to be likable or relatable. Unlike most Marvel superheroes, The Punisher has no issue with the wholesale murder of the criminal underworld; he’s a violent, borderline psychotic man who has earned the distrust of people on both sides of the law.
As a result of that characterization, it’s been hard to properly portray him as a protagonist. Between Dolph Abuses will lead to bangren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson, no actor has ever been able to hold onto the part for very long due to lukewarm box office performance — although Jane holds a certain cult status among fans for his portrayal of Frank Castle. Now, it seems Daredevil will correct those past errors.

Loeb went on to talk about how Elektra (Elodie Yung) fits into the narrative. He explained that it all boils down to a difference of opinion between these three violent people — Daredevil, Elektra, and The Punisher — with regard to how justice should be served on the streets:
“What’s fantastic about the story is, is that it’s created this enormous division in his life, because the woman that he once loved has returned, and she certainly has some issues with morality, and how you get the job done, and going on the other end of the spectrum is Frank Castle, who believes that justice needs to be served in a particular way.”
Based upon Bernthal’s previous roles, it would seem that The Punisher is in more than capable hands with him. Between his roles in projects like The Walking Dead, and David Ayer’s Fury, the actor has proven time and time again that he is a master of portraying dark, violent characters who firmly believe their way is the right way. Then again, compared to The Walking Dead‘s Shane Walsh, The Punisher is a whole new ballgame, so we will see in time if Loeb’s assessment of Bernthal’s performance is accurate.
Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2: Jon Bernthal Says ‘We’re Going To a Whole New Place’[/h]

With news breaking that the Punisher will get his own Netflix series set within the grim and gritty back alleys of the streaming services’ corner of the Marvel Universe, it is clear the powers that be at both Marvel and Netflix have been left sufficiently impressed with actor Jon Bernthal’s rendition of the gun-toting vigilante. While the folks who make the decisions on which character gets his or her own show have been suitably spellbound, Bernthal’s next and possibly more difficult challenge will be to convince viewers the solo antics of Frank Castle are in fact binge-worthy with his role in Daredevil season 2.
By all accounts, the Punisher’s contribution to season 2 of the Man Without Fear’s television series will be a substantial one, with the season’s narrative having been described as “Daredevil vs. The Punisher” when the character’s inclusion was first announced. Other hints, like the poster that was released a few weeks ago – which immediately brought to mind the outrageously divisive opening credits sequence to The Leftovers season 1 – with the Punisher’s trademark skull like a storm cloud looming over the crowded tapestry of Matt Murdock’s Hell’s Kitchen were about as subtle as the character’s preferred method of handling lawbreakers. Meanwhile, official and unofficial photos alike focused as much on Bernthal as they did the eponymous hero.

While Bernthal’s ability to bring a definitive version of the character to life is certainly a primary concern, the overall quality of Daredevil season 2 is also a priority – especially given the positive response the show enjoyed from fans in season 1. Topping what came before is usually the goal of any sophomore season, meaning, in a way, every well-received show is competing first and foremost with itself. Daredevil season 1 set a high standard for Netflix’s Marvel TV shows, one that puts added pressure on the series to deliver again, especially in the wake of the positive reception Jessica Jones was handed upon its arrival.

Now, according to a new interview Bernthal gave to EW, in which he lays out his reasons for taking the role and his awareness of just how high expectations are, the former Walking Dead actor describes Daredevil season 2 as “going to a whole new place.”
But before he digs into discussing season’s tone, Bernthal touches on how he sees Frank Castle and how that informed his approach to the character:
“… He’s a guy who brought the war home with him [in] the worst possible way. There are a lot of iterations of this character and in all of them it’s a man who’s gone through this unbelievable trauma and what’s interesting about our take on him is how this trauma reshapes his own philosophy. I can’t give too much away, but what’s interesting is the way [showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez] have made his story a slow burn. It’s interesting to find this guy at the point we find him. You want an evolution and a process. He starts in one place and will end up in another.”
As Bernthal describes it, that place is a very dark one – one that he deliberately put himself into.
“… with Frank, what was important was the emptiness inside him. He’s dealing with this unbelievable loss. There’s unbelievable anger and hatred and shame. There’s a sense of responsibility and as a father and husband, if I were to lose my family on my watch … I had to put myself in as dark of place as possible the last six months.”

Reading Bernthal’s explanation of the character and his take on him, it sounds as though Frank Castle is going to be not only one tough customer, but also a very intense one. That might cause the audience to think twice about Frank’s black-and-white view of the world and his role in it as judge, jury, and executioner. As Bernthal puts it, he would like the audience to have conflicted feelings toward the Punisher, and especially his actions:
“One of the things I’m most excited for is I’m hoping the audience will go back and forth. There are things you can identify with and get behind, and there are things when the character pushes it and you can’t get behind him anymore. And that’s what I want. I think that’s the nature of the character. This is a guy who pushes the envelope. He’s brutal, but he’s coming from a place of unbelievable hurt. And the best thing about the character is he just doesn’t care. It’s a highly personal mission he’s on and if he offends you, it’s completely unimportant to him.”
Mostly, though, Bernthal is excited for audiences to see how the character evolves over the course of the season’s 13 episodes. The season is largely being billed as a conflict between two men on a similar mission, and who approach that undertaking with varying extremes. But as Bernthal notes, the clash between Daredevil and the Punisher will have a greater impact than simply “two men enter one man leaves.” The interactions Frank has with Matt Murdock (and others) will lead the character and inform on his “evolution” throughout the season.
“… I can tell you that this guy, horrible tragic things happen, and we will see how he goes through that. The effect the other characters have on him will push him certain directions. I think once you see these characters collide, it’s tremendously interesting and emotionally gripping as well. It’s going to be a special season. If you thought last season of Daredevil was dark, we’re going to a whole new place.”
While Daredevil season 2 will apparently take the characters to a new, darker place, it is clear that Bernthal’s journey as the Punisher is far from over. As such, the announcement of his joining the Netflix stable of Marvel characters presents some interesting questions about where the character will find himself following his clash with the Man Without Fear. Whatever that endpoint is, it will obviously be the beginning of something new.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2: Matt Murdock ‘Questions Everything'; New Details on Elektra[/h]

When Daredevil debuted on Netflix, it showed fans a darker and more violent corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe than what’s been featured in the movies and on network TV. Winning instant acclaim, the show featured a more grounded take on the superhero genre than many of Marvel’s other offerings and a deeper story than many expected.
With season 2 a mere two months away, more and more information is being released on what to expect. Much of the focus so far has been on the arrival of the Punisher, but now we’re starting to get a few details on Elektra as well.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, Daredevil star Charlie Cox discussed the direction that the new season was taking Matt Murdock/Daredevil. He explains that “with Wilson Fisk in jail, the crime rate has plummeted. Things have returned to normal, if not better than normal.” This feeling of “normal” isn’t going to last, of course, as the Punisher arrives and begins his war against the remaining criminal element.

The Punisher’s war on crime is difficult for Murdock to stomach, especially as comparisons begin between the Punisher’s style of vigilante justice and Daredevil’s. Cox explains that this makes Murdock “question everything,” explaining that “Matt has to reevaluate who is and what he does.” This likely plays in to some of the moral themes that have been discussed previously for season 2, and looks at exactly where the line is between justice and vengeance.
Actress Elodie Yung, who plays Elektra in season 2, also discussed her character and how she approached her portrayal of the famed assassin. Referring to the way the character is portrayed in the comics, she said that “I wanted to keep the coldness” of the character. Yung continues:
“Elektra is kind of a sociopath. This world is a game for her, a chess game. What motivates her is what she wants. She’ll use anything [she] needs to use to get to her goal. If she needs to kill people, she will.”

Yung also explained that she and the producers wanted Elektra to be a complex character with different levels that come through in the season. “She’s not a bad person,” she explained, adding also, “She’s not a good person. She’s a person with different traits and layers. We’ll find out who she is really by the end…”
Showrunner Doug Petrie (who along with Marco Ramirez took over the role from Stephen S. DeKnight) also added a little information about Elektra’s costume in the series. The design of the costume was apparently driven by two questions: “What looks cool?” and “What would you really fight in?” Petrie explained that “Elektra isn’t just about protection. She’s a bit of a stylist,” and her costume in the series needed to reflect that. No word yet on when fans will actually get to see that costume, however.

Marvel’s Daredevil season 2 is set to premiere on March 18 on Netflix. Luke Cage is expected to debut later this year as well, and Iron Fist, The Defenders and a second season of Jessica Jones will come in 2017 or later. A Punisher spinoff series is also rumored to be in development.Source: TVLine

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2: Marvel TV Head On Matt Murdock & Elektra Relationship[/h]

With the second season of the popular Netflix Original Series based on the eponymous Marvel Comics character on the way, fans of the Daredevil show have been clambering for more information regarding where they can expect to see the blind, Hell’s Kitchen lawyer, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), go next. Following the release of the first teaser trailer and poster for the new series, and knowing full well that an epic stand off between Daredevil and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is on the way, anticipation couldn’t be higher for the show ahead of its March 2016 release.
In addition to including infamous vigilante Frank Castle to the series’ rotating cast of heroes and villains, fans also know that the Murdock’s old college flame, Elektra Natachios (Elodie Yung) will be also making an appearence of which more details have just been released.

During a conversation with CBM, the head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, discussed Elektra’s role in Daredevil season 2, drawing attention to the character’s relationship with Murdock in the comics – wherein she left Matt during their college days for reasons that remain unexplained at this point and time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Loeb’s specific comments relating to the dynamic between Elektra and Daredevil on the show were as follows:
“I think one of the things that’s dynamic about [Elodie Yung’s] performance is that you never quite know if Elektra’s telling you the truth. Matt, who has this sort of ability to be a human lie detector, because he’s emotionally attached to her, it skews his ability to be able to know whether or not she’s telling the truth or he’s being manipulated, or is she actually not manipulating him? That kind of interaction, and I think the natural emotion that was going on between Charlie and Elodie that we captured on film, added a great deal of spark to it. Particularly, given that Karen Page [from the first season] is an equally strong and independent woman who has her own story that’s going on throughout the series. As you will watch it unfold, you get very caught up in the push and pull of Matt Murdock’s life.”
Elodie Yung as Elektra on Daredevil season 2

Just what sort of help Elektra might be seeking from Murdock in the second season of the show is the obvious question that still remains. Based on the accumulation of all outstanding source material relating to the two characters, viewers might very well see the first appearance of an antagonist as well known comic book readers as The Hand, as noted by CBM.
Following the establishment of the basic character that was featured on the show’s first season, returning viewers can likely expect a second season from the Netflix Original Series that will focus primarily on Murdock has he comes to terms with the reasons behind his taking up mantle of the show’s titular protagonist. With any luck, fans of the series might just be in for a second season to rival the likes of such feature film fare as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight – though only time will tell how well things shake out for the Hell’s Kitchen lawyer in a little over a month.

Daredevil
season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced.

[h=1]Daredevil Co-Executive Producer Promises Season 2 Will Have Everyone In Costumes[/h]

The first season of Netflix’s Daredevil was known for a few things, its dark, gritty tone and ambitious fight scenes among them. For better or for worse, it was also known for being a bit of a tease when it came to its titular hero’s costume, keeping him in a cobbled-together black outfit until his signature red one was debuted at the end of the season.
Season 1 was very much an origin story, introducing Matt Murdock just as he was starting to get into the crimefighting game and suffering a whole bunch of bruises and broken bones as a result. The reasons for the delay on introducing his final costume were sound: to show a man who hadn’t quite found his footing as a hero yet and to raise the stakes a bit as far as the abuse his body was enduring. With season 2 he will finally be decked out in the red costume comic fans have come to know and love, and he won’t be the only one in a recognizable costume, either.
According to ComicBook.com, Daredevil‘s co-executive producer Doug Petrie confirmed at a recent TCA press conference that Elektra will sport a version of her signature red costume familiar to comic book fans, although there may be some alterations to it to make it more realistic:
“I think, what we were thinking – first and foremost – were two questions. One was what looks cool? How much do we love the comics and can we do that? And, then also, in terms of bringing Elodie in and her martial arts training – which is so evident in what she does and who she is as a character – what would you really fight in? What would protect you? And, also Elektra isn’t just about protection. She’s a little bit of a stylist, so we threw all that into the mix.”
http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Daredevil-Season-2-Netflix-Footage-Punisher-Elektra.jpg
According to executive producer Marco Ramirez, Elektra won’t be the only one who gets in on the costume action:
“Anything like a comic book costume, to us, a fun part of the challenge is making it organically feel part of the world or the tapestry of the world that makes it seem like season one. So, will people be wearing kick ass costumes in this show? Yes. Yes, everybody does – we promise! But, that said, we wanted to make it feel as organic and grounded as possible.”
Presumably, “everyone” means The Punisher as well. Previous images of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle obscured the front of his shirt and made it difficult to tell if he would have his signature skull logo. Given the positive buzz around Bernthal’s portrayal of The Punisher, though, and talk of him having his own spinoff series, it doesn’t seem like the showrunners would want to play coy with his identity. As to when exactly Frank Castle will take up the mantle of Marvel’s most notorious vigilante, that is something fans will have to watch the show to find out.

[h=1]Daredevil Star Charlie Cox: Marvel TV & Movies Are Different Things[/h]

The second season of the Netflix Original Series Daredevil is already on the way for release in March 2016, with a series of new episodes set to explore darker territories than Hell’s Kitchen lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) has faced so far, including a rivalry with Frank Castle/The Punisher (Joe Bernthal), and the return of his old college squeeze, Elektra Natachios (Elodie Yung). Based on all appearances so far, Cox has gotten the role and world of the Marvel Comics character down pat, and viewers can expect even more of what they’ve come to love about the character on the small screen.
Nevertheless, Cox may not be appearing anytime soon on the big screen in a major motion picture from Marvel Studios, such as The Avengers: Infinity War. That is, despite whatever feelings or desires the actor in question might have regarding the role.
In a recent interview conducted by Entertainment Tonight regarding the delineation of power held by Marvel Studios and Marvel TV respectively, Cox claimed that while he may play Daredevil on the small screen, Matt Murdock could potentially be recast if he were to appear on the big screen in the near future. While Cox might otherwise wish to continue portraying the character in a feature film, the actor was quick to acknowledge the difference between the two studios, stating:
Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things. So even if the character were to appear [in The Avengers: Infinity War], that doesn’t necessarily mean that I would appear in that film.

Cox was quick to declare that he would, “Pick a fight with the guy that they choose,” making it clear that the young actor is intent to continue playing Matt Murdock were he to make the transition from Netflix star to Marvel Studios contender. Obviously, the Daredevil show, as well as fellow Netflix series Jessica Jones, both operate within the same cinematic universe as the Marvel Studios feature films, so it would seem like a no brainer for Cox to retain the rights to playing Murdock – were he to appear in any film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Just where we might see Cox end up next following the conclusion of the second season of Daredevil online remains to be seen, though the future of the character is undoubtedly one fated to wind up entangled in the films produced by Marvel Studios at some point. But even if Cox is not cast ultimately cast in The Avengers: Infinity War, viewers will always be able to catch the actor’s take on the role on Netflix indefinitely.

[h=1]Ray Stevenson ‘Delighted’ to See New Punisher in Daredevil[/h]

With the release of Daredevil’s first season last year on Netflix, both Marvel and the streaming service made history. Netflix garnered praise from critics and fans alike, while setting new records for their original content. Marvel, meanwhile, made a bold first step in introducing more adult themes and narratives into their otherwise kid-friendly MCU. The show became a kind of standard-bearer, giving audiences the world over a glimpse into what their burgeoning plans for The Defenderswhich includes, Daredevil, the recently released Jessica Jones, this year’s Luke Cage, and the forthcoming Iron Fistwill look like. The success of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones has solidified those plans to great interest, with each of the previous series now set for at least a second season before all characters converge in their Avengers like crossover event.
Daredevil’s return is just two months away, with Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire) set to reprise his role as the titular superhero. Joining the cast this season is Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Elektra and former The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal as the hyper-violent vigilante Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher. As with Daredevil himself, Punisher’s debut within the MCU is set to be a return to form for the character, whose previous cinematic incarnations were met with lukewarm receptions among fans. Now, an actor who previously portrayed the Punisher has weighed in on the latest incarnation of the character.

Speaking with Cinema Blend about the upcoming premiere of season 3 of Black Sails, actor Ray Stevenson spoke on the character, whom he portrayed in Punisher: War Zone back in 2008. The actor still has positive associations with the role, but wonders how Frank Castle will translate to the new medium.

“I’m delighted that the character is still vivid and valid. Punisher is from the Max series of Marvel comics which is technically an R-rated, I mean it’s a very violent man doing very violent things to very violent people. How he will translate to the audience, I wish them all the very best. But, when I look at Garth Ennis’ writing, I found it to be some of the most sophisticated and intelligent writing I’ve ever come across.”
Despite his delight, there seems to be some hand-wringing about how the character will be portrayed. While it’s true that Punisher’s previous cinematic incarnations, including War Zone and its predecessor Punisher — which starred Thomas Jane (The Expanse) — were both hard-R films with incredible amounts of violence and adult themes, this doesn’t seem to be a terrible concern for Netflix or their audience. Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been unafraid to dive into the dark underbelly of the Marvel universe, and neither series has shied away from the kinds of gruesome violence Punisher is best known for.
Early buzz on Bernthal’s portrayal as Castle has been largely positive, with the character even being considered for a spinoff of his own. These signs all point to great things for the latest incarnation of the Punisher, which doesn’t bode well for Stevenson’s long simmering hopes to portray the character once more.
“And when I did the movie, I think the only thing it suffered from was that our references were from comic books that were already 10-15 years old and I would love nothing more than to continue and bring Frank back… but bring Frank back to the big screen.”

Given Daredevil’s history of erasing memories and bad will from subpar cinematic portrayals of popular characters, chances of the Punisher’s return to the big screen, especially now that Marvel owns the full rights to the character, seem slim at best. That is, of course, if the early buzz proves correct.
As of now, however, there’s no reason to doubt the veracity of the claims that this latest Punisher will become definitive. Netflix, it seems, can do no wrong when it comes to Marvel and if things keep going as they’ve gone so far, we can most likely expect great things when the character makes his debut.
Daredevil season two debuts Friday, March 18 on Netflix, while season one and Jessica Jones are streaming now. Luke Cage premieres later this year, and Iron Fist is expected sometime next year.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2: Elodie Yung Says Elektra is a ‘Sociopath’[/h]

Though it found itself somewhat eclipsed by the huge cultural phenomenon that Jessica Jones turned out to be, Marvel’s original Netflix venture, Daredevil, was still a big hit in its own right. The series is set to return in March for a second season and it promises to expand on the adventures of Matt Murdock and friends while also building on the growing mega-story leading up to the Defenders crossover; not to mention, introducing the Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnations of fan-favorite characters like The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Elektra (Elodie Yung.)
In a recent interview, Yung has expanded on her take on the character; giving fans a taste of what they can expect from this new interpretation of the Daredevil player.

According to Yung, who was not familiar with the character prior to her audition, the Marvel/Netflix version of Elektra will not be shying away from the grim storylines and dark personality traits that have made her a favorite among fans over the years. When asked about the interpretation by Collider, the actress responded:
“We think Elektra is a sociopath. This world is a game for her. It’s like a chess game, and what motivates her is what she wants. She’ll use anything she needs to use to get to her goal, and if she needs to kill people, she will. She has this coldness in her, and I tried to keep that. But on the other hand, we wanted to create a character with different layers. I think Elektra isn’t a bad person, but she’s not a good person. She’s a person with different traits, with layers, and she’s seeking who she is. In this season, there’s an arc to her story. Hopefully, she’ll find we’ll find out who she is, by the end of it.”

Originating in the iconic Frank Miller-penned Daredevil stories of the late 1970s and early ’80s, which transformed the blind vigilante series into the gritty noir-inspired form it’s best known for today, Elektra is a deadly female assassin who serves the supernaturally-inclined Ninja cult “The Hand.” In her debut (which Miller openly admits is largely inspired by the backstory of Sand Serif from Will Eisner’s The Spirit) her mission in New York on behalf of her clan becomes complicated when Daredevil recognizes her voice as that of Elektra Natchios – the daughter of a murdered Greek ambassador with whom had been romantically involved as a teenager.
Though memorably killed off at the conclusion of her storyline,Elektra has since been resurrected multiple times (over Miller’s objections) and is one of Marvel’s most popular female antiheroes. However, her subsequent appearances have been controversial among some fans; with some feeling that having her embrace a more heroic role (or a more overtly villainous one, for that matter) at various points has weakened the character’s original mystique. During the Secret Invasion crossover, Marvel retconned several of her then-recent character turns as having actually been perpetrated by a Skrull impostor; though the “real” Elektra remains alive and active currently.

The character was previously portrayed by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 Daredevil movie opposite Ben Affleck before reviving the character for an unsuccessful spinoff film – though neither installment was especially successful and the liberties taken with Elektra especially were roundly rejected by fans. It likely won’t be difficult for Yung and Marvel to create a preferable version by comparison, though like with Daredevil himself much early criticism can be expected to involve the character’s famous costume – a subject where Yung refused to elaborate beyond “There’s definitely a costume.”
One question that’s yet to be answered is what role Elektra will actually play in the Daredevil season 2 storyline. Traditionally, her origin (as part of Daredevil’s adult life) involves a complicated setup that includes the villains Kingpin and Bullseye; but Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is not yet confirmed to return for season 2 and Bullseye has not been cast at all yet. On the other hand, several unanswered plot questions from season 1 centered on The Hand and other enterprises connected to Eastern criminal organizations, so its possible she is onhand to help set those plots in motion rather than something closer to her comic origin.

Daredevil
season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced. Screen Rant will keep you updated on the Punisher spinoff as development continues.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2 Promo Art Teases a Shattered Matt Murdock[/h]

It’s difficult to catch a break when living the dark, gritty life of a New York vigilante. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) may have won himself a string of victories during the first season of Daredevil, but there are still more battles for him to fight. The fight against Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) was only the beginning. Between the arrival of The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), the return of his former flame Elektra (Elodie Yung), and the remaining threat of the Hell’s Kitchen criminal underworld, Daredevil’s hands will be full this year.
Being Daredevil means getting hurt; it’s an inevitability that the blind lawyer prepared himself for. However, if a new international promo image from Daredevil‘s second season is any indication, Matt Murdock will remain a target even when he hangs up his red suit for the evening.
Released online — courtesy of CBM — the new promotional image shows Matt Murdock’s trademark glasses neatly folded on the ground, with cracks in each lens. At the bottom of the image one can see only the Daredevil logo and the phrase “Seconda Stagione,” which is Italian for second season. Check it out below:

Overall the image maintains Daredevil‘s trademark minimalist style. Promotional material for the series tends to utilize dark, blank backgrounds with simple representations of objects or characters. In this way the images tend to mirror the blind Matt Murdock’s own way of taking the world in: simple and uncluttered yet endlessly profound.
On a more literal level the image has some noteworthy implications for the personal life of Daredevil’s alter ego. The first season of the hit Netflix series kept violence relatively distant from Matt during the daylight hours — he would typically go looking for danger once he had donned his mask. Now it seems the danger will find him when he is not necessarily ready for it. The threat may come from The Punisher, Kingpin, or perhaps an as of yet unannounced villain, but the image seems to suggest this season of Daredevil will see Matt struck where it hurts.
Then again, the threats against Daredevil’s secret identity may not have anything in particular to do with his vigilante activities. As a lawyer, he’s bound to make enemies during the course of his day job, so it remains entirely plausible that he earned this danger without anyone discovering what his nightly activities consist of. Audiences will just have to wait and see.
Screen Rant will keep you updated on the Punisher spinoff as development continues.

[h=1]New Daredevil Vs. The Punisher Trailer Coming Tomorrow[/h]

Is there a difference? #Daredevilhttps://t.co/kZUvXEa5Fc
— Daredevil (@Daredevil) February 14, 2016
In 2015, Marvel kicked off the Netflix side of their cinematic universe with the first season of Daredevil. The show received an overwhelmingly positive critical response, and Marvel followed the series up with a second critically well-received series with the first season of Jessica Jones. Now Daredevil season 2 is the next release from Marvel and Netflix, with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and a Defenders team-up series set to arrive in the coming years.
Daredevil season 1 followed Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he fought against Kingpin (Vincent D’Onfrio) in order to save his neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. Season 2 will introduce other characters from Marvel Comics, including Elektra (Elodie Yung) and the fan-favorite anti-hero The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). A promo for Daredevil season 2 teases a new trailer for the Marvel Netflix series that will feature Punisher.

The new teaser (above) released by Daredevil on Twitter features the head of the titular hero’s costume flickering in and out and changing into the logo for Punisher. Meanwhile, Bernthal can be heard speaking as Frank Castle a.k.a. Punisher, saying, “You know you’re one bad day away from being me.”

Soon after Daredevil added Bernthal to the series as Punisher, season 2 showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie – who took over from Steven S. DeKnight – referred to the second outing of The Man Without Fear as “Daredevil vs The Punisher.” Reports about Punisher in season 2 have teased an exceptional portrayal of the anti-hero that will please fans – which may explain the rumors that Netflix and Marvel are developing an entire Punisher spinoff series, though it’s unclear when that would arrive if the reports turn out to be true.
From everything we know so far about Daredevil season 2, it seems Punisher will play an integral role – likely filling in for Kingpin as Matt Murdock’s main antagonist for the season. Additionally, like the contrast between Daredevil’s way of cleaning up Hell’s Kitchen versus Kingpin’s in season 1, it seems season 2 will provide another comparison in the way that Matt Murdock and Frank Castle handle vigilante justice.
Of course, although much of season 2 will likely be devoted to Daredevil facing off against The Punisher, the season will also see the introduction of the famed assassin Elektra as well as the return of Matt Murdock’s friends, Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson). But, though Daredevil season 2 will likely provide compelling returns to the season 1 characters and an introduction of Elektra to the MCU, the fight between Daredevil and Punisher will be the main attraction – one that we will hopefully get a glimpse of in the upcoming trailer.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2 Promo & Poster: Matt Murdock’s In a Tough Spot[/h]

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War will see superheroes duking it out with one another on the big screen in 2016; meanwhile, Daredevil season 2 will be pitting “street-level” superhero Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) against the anti-hero Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) on the small screen. Matt will also be dealing with his old girlfriend Elektra (Elodie Yung) showing up in Hell’s Kitchen during season 2 of said Marvel/Netflix TV series, but the main focus of the season – and the focal point of marketing for the season, too – has been the conflict (one that involves different ideologies and, eventually, an exchanging of punches) between Daredevil and The Punisher, so far.
That continues with the most recent promo released for Daredevil season 2, which you can watch above. Marvel/Netflix has also released a related poster that shows Daredevil, chained up and looking worse for wear following an encounter with The Punisher – though, Marvel comic book readers already have an inkling of the dark events that may transpire during the scene that’s being teased here (more on that shortly). First, here is the official Daredevil season 2 synopsis, followed by the aforementioned new poster:

The Daredevil season 2 scene teased here looks to have been lifted right out of the Punisher/Daredevil comic book story that Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon (who also collaborated on projects like the Preacher comic book series) wrote and illustrated, respectively, in 2001. You can read more about this encounter between Daredevil and Punisher in the Marvel Comics universe HERE, but the short of it is this: this is an incident where Frank Castle forces Matt Murdock to make a moral decision, when it comes to killing others, in order to prove a larger point. The line that Bernthal’s Punisher says to Cox’s Daredevil (one that has been featured heavily in Daredevil season 2 marketing of late), “You know you’re one bad day away from being me,” likewise appears to be a part of either this infamous encounter between the two characters – or a similar meeting between them on the show.
In short: if Matt was hoping that his conscience would become more clear – and his moral compass easier to follow – after he defeated Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) in Daredevil season 1, The Punisher’s actions (and how Matt responds to them) should very much prove otherwise.

Daredevil
season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Jessica Jones season 2, Iron Fist, and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced. We’ll keep you updated on the Punisher spinoff as development continues.

[h=1]Daredevil Season 2 Promos Highlight Foggy & Karen in Hell’s Kitchen[/h]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5p77RMUUzs&feature=player_embedded

In just a little under a month, Netflix audiences will go back to Hell’s Kitchen as the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil hits the streaming service. Anticipation for the second season is already running high, given the outstanding critical and audience success of both Daredevil’s inaugural season and its sister series Jessica Jones – further solidifying Netflix’s standing as a provider of original content. The bar has been set sky high and Daredevil’s second season has a lot to live up to.
Blessedly, there seems to be little reason to think Daredevil season 2 will disappoint, and the intensity already seems to ramping up nicely. Joining series stars like Charlie Cox and Rosario Dawson in season 2 are Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Elektra Natchios and Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) as Frank Castle/The Punisher. While the addition of these heavyweight characters adds to the anticipation for the upcoming season, a series can be made or broke on the strength of its side characters, and there can be no denying that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson helped make the first season stand out as much as it did.

Netflix released two new spots showcasing Karen and Foggy in the final run-up to Daredevil season 2’s premiere. While the new ads add little to our understanding of what to expect from the new season, they certainly help fuel the hype machine and, at the very least, portend interesting roles for both of the series’ main side-characters. Check them out, above and below:

Described as character sketches, these Daredevil season 2 promos are intended more to provide insight into the roles of each character than insight into series specifics. Karen sits amidst a pile of paperwork topped with a skull – alluding both to her work with Matt Murdock as a legal assistant and hinting at the specter of death the looms over her – as she looks over the Punisher’s sign. Meanwhile, Foggy walks through a darkened alley, looking backwards towards an off camera yell – one that, in all likelihood, results from The Punisher’s work on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.
Both of these sketches build on the characterization from Daredevil season 1. Karen, of course, was framed for murder and gotten off by the legal team of Nelson and Murdock. Foggy spent most of the season in the dark regarding his partner’s superheroic activities, choosing a different path to fight the evils of man. These new ads definitely add ambiance to the marketing campaign for season 2, and give us little doubt that the new season will be every bit as fantastic

Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Jessica Jones season 2, Iron Fist, and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced. We’ll keep you updated on the Punisher spinoff as development continues.
